Woman here with wide forefoot and regular heel. Women's 9/EE can still be too tight across the forefoot but I've found Men's 7.5/EE to be a great fit without a heel I'm swimming in. This style has good stability at the expense of some cushioning. Good all around walking shoe but not for long days or longer walks where I need more cushioning. I do use a metatarsal insole with it.

I tried two different styles of HOKAs (returned both as lack of stability was an issue) and a pair of G-Defy shoes (also returned as fit was off). These NB shoes are the perfect combo of foam comfort AND stability. Walking on clouds, but not "big, puffy clouds" like HOKAs where I felt my balance was impaired. Love 'em!
I'd also recommend:

Loved the look. The step takes some getting used to as it is very soft. Felt like walking on a marshmallow. The size was very tight around the middle part of my foot.

I had good experiences with New Balance in the past, especially with the 1080 series. I really like the "Fresh Foam" material, and NB sizing is almost always just right for me. The 860s disappointed. They're definitely not a suitable substitute for the 1080s. They were a half-size small, which is okay because they were exchangeable, and the toebox is roomy. The issues for me are weight and ride. These are heavy shoes and the strike on the pavement is hard, despite the Fresh Foam. The ride is flat, by which I mean there's no real sensation of return that propels you to the next step. Honestly, it reminds me of running in army boots back in the day. I feel like I'm just clumping down the road. The 1080s were also heavy, but they had a more refined ride and, more importantly, a far more plush feel that compensated for the weight. Can't recommend these.
