Material is stiff. Is it even leather?

I have large feet. A women's size 12. The boot was very loose and wide. The leather did not have the look and feel of good leather shoes.

I ended up sending these back. I was very disappointed in the leather. It felt cheap and was stamped as Made in China.

I am returning these because they are made in China, and also the leather feel very plastic. Disappointed.

I bought these boots back in 2007 and remember them being the most comfy boots I had owned. I hated having to toss them 3yrs later due to work specific contamination. Fast forward to 2019 and I decided to give them another try. Not the same boots anymore. **Note that my previous pair was not made in England either** Each boot has noticeable assembly differences which has caused one boot to fit tighter around the center of my foot compared to the other. I know these boots take a decent amount of time to break in, but I doubt that will change how these feel. I currently also own a pair of Danner Moc toe boots and it looks like these will continue to be my go to boots until I wear them out. Too bad it took a couple days of wear before I got the true feel for these Dr. Martens because now I can not return them.

I am so disappointed. I knew something wasn't right the moment I tried these on. After researching, I figured it out. Made in China. So much cheaper and more ill fitting than the authentic Doc's I had in the 90's. It's a shame.

The fit is fine. The style is fine. Dr. Martens has gone down in quality. The past two pairs of Dr. Martens boots I have ordered have cracked at the pinky toe area where the boot bends with the foot. I do not have sharp nails. The leather feels cheaper these days. Alas, no other boot compares. I love Dr. Martens' straightforward look, design, and function. But I'm seeking alternatives if anyone has ideas.

I've had a variety of Doc Marten's over the years, and the upper on these felt flimsy and the leather was thin. I've read reviews that suggest there is no difference between the "Made in England" version and those made elsewhere. I don't know if that is true. The existing pair I have are made in England and much sturdier. However, they are older so I don't know if that means the quality has just gone down generally. Even the toe box on these was relatively soft. I'm returning and will likely pay the extra and see if the Made in England version are still good quality.

Bought these for my husband's birthday, at his request. He owns 3 pair of Dr. Martens and has had one of the pair of boots (also 1460) for 20+ years. When I saw the pictures that others had posted and read some of the reviews I was skeptical about the quality, but bought them anyway. I told my husband about what I had seen and read as he opened the box and told him I thought they were being manufactured overseas. He said, "they make them in the UK".. well, he was wrong. Lo and behold the tag on the inside says Thailand. The quality seems really lacking. The leather (we bought Napa leather in black) was cheap and flimsy. We cannot justify $145 for a pair of cheaply made boots. Back they went.

Ouch!!! This is possibly a torture chamber for your feet. Unless you’re into self mutilation choose anything else. It cuts across the back of the ankles like a dull rusty axe.

This was my second pair of Martens and I could feel the crappy Chinese quality coming through the shoes souls. The pair of boots were uneven, one fit well and the other was just was horrible. It was as if I was wearing two different pairs of boots. I gave them some time thinking it was just me and the boot break each other in, nope wrong again. The left boot nearly cut into my heal, it wore off the skin of my left heal after wearing them all day. I'm seriously just considering getting a refund, I expected better quality.

This boot runs small and they're impossible to break. They're not comfortable at all and are overpriced. There are thousands of other boots to choose from! Don't waste your money on these!

When I first got the green boots, I'm afraid I thought they seemed a bit cheap and plasticky; however, once I began to wear them, they became my daily shoe. I walked to and from work in them, for 2-2.5 miles per day. The looked good, and I got a few compliments on them. Unfortunately, a crack developed in the green surface at one point, and the darker material underneath showed through. I took the boot by the local Doc Marten store to ask if anything could be done to fix it, and I was told it was unlikely and reminded that the shoes needed to be treated regularly--which I'd been doing. I don't wear these anymore, partly because they now have a defect, and partly because I don't want to make the defect worse. It's a pity they didn't remain in good condition for more than a few months, but I suppose they probably were made to look cool more than to endure a lot of mileage.

I've worn Doc Martens for years. Bought two pair of the Originals and am highly disappointed. I don't even believe that they are leather. Looks more like plastic or vinyl. Uncomfortable and the one pair squeak horribly. I contacted Doc Marten with my concerns regarding the boots and they responded with their return policy regarding defects and/or damage. Thing is, it is not a defect or damage, it is like thinking your buying a BMW 5 Series but get a Pontiac Fiero.

Unfortunately, it took me a couple of days walking on these to come to the conclusion that these are the most uncomfortable pair of boots I've ever wore. While just by looking at them you assume they are quite roomy on the toes, this is deceptive. My left pinkie is always trapped before reaching the tip, causing me pain every single time. The cheap, unlined leather construction folds a bit around the heels, causing cuts, even after wearing thick socks to protect them. Stylewise is classic Doc Martens, and you will never assume that boots that look so good and comfortable are extreme torture to your feet. I have seen knockoffs at Payless that are more wearable than these.

I've been wearing Docs since the '90s. This is the second pair of boots I've gotten rid of. Anyone else have this issue? The heel cup top cuts into the achilles tendon. This is a serious problem. After walking all day it feels like a razor blade. I don't think it is confined to this style, as another style I had did the same. Don't get me wrong, these boots are beautiful! Amazing. Look just like the photo. But they are not comfortable. I know the pop sound as the ankle bends on the right boot would get to me over time, and the way the top of the boot digs into my calf. But right away I knew that breaking in wouldn't be enough. I'll be buying something not Docs next time. Wish they felt as great as they look, but I don't care how nice they are if they can't be worn all day. Now Keens are another story.

Other reviewers are right that the leather on these boots seems a lot like plastic. That's a bit unnerving, but the real problem with it is that the boots are super stiff, especially where the top hits my calf. I feel like I would injure myself walking down the street. So they're going back.

I have three pairs of Dr Martens that I purchased in the early 80's and they still wear/look great. I bought a pair last year cheap Chinese imports and they wore out in nine months. BY THE UK VERSIONS...they are worth the price!

Comfortable? Yes. Durable? Negative. I'm on my feet for fifty to sixty hours a week in food service, and I beat on shoes. Asides from general wear and tear, everything from bleach to boiling soup gets splashed on them. Being the cheapskate that I am, I've been spending thirty bucks at Walmart or Payless every three or four months for shoes that wear out quickly, and hurt your feet along the way. I was getting tired of this after a few years, and decided to spend some cash on a "good" pair of shoes. I had a pair of 1460s way back when, and they took everything I could give them for five or six years. Good boots. Haven't even thought about Dr. Martens in ages, when I came across them on here and figured, "What the hell, seems like a good investment." I spent more on boots that came with the cheapest, barely-there insoles imaginable. That being said, once I bought some gel inserts and broke them in, they wore like a dream. I mean they were borderline superb. The slip resistance is above average, too. After having them about four months, the leather (which is a lot thinner and flimsier than I recollect) began to wear in the way that only the cheapest leather does, and finally it began to crack. This after having mink oiled them several times, cleaning them as often as possible, and conditioning them once a week. These things look like a marine's boots who just got back from two years of combat. Awful. I still wear them, and they're still like walking on air, but now the leather has this odd pattern of creases and ridges, and there are several small tears in it. They look bad. I mean, you spend that kind of money on footwear, you'd expect them to look halfway presentable, or, at the very least, not have the leather tear. Didn't mean to write a novel here, but this makes me upset. Maybe I'll give Wolverine or Timberland a shot next.

There are two types of boot wearers, those that can wear the Docs and those that can't. These are beautiful boots and I wanted them to work but they did not. The fit seemed flaccid. The leather just too soft. I was afraid I was crease them so much just walking on the carpet to test the boots that I would not be able to return them. Overall, not nearly enough support at the ankles. Toe box too big. Heel area seemed ready to expand. Other reviewers just rave about these boots. So, I think it gets down to this -- if you like a stiffer, more supportive boot these will not do. If you prefer a soft, glove like feel you will love these boots.

Have bought these shoes for the last 15 years. Last 2 pairs wore out within 6 months. The soles are just not what they used to be.
