The boot's design at the ankle was too narrow and uncomfortable to put on

I've never owned a Chelsea style boot before. I first tried the Blundstone 550. They weren't comfortable and they felt awkward. The LL Bean employee told me to try the Portland Chelsea boot. I noticed an immediate different feel of these boots. They felt so comfortable. The soles are sewn on verses being glued on like the Blundstone. I know people that have their boots resolved instead of buying new ones. You don't have to go through the breaking process. Yes,there is a little break in process for the Portland Chelsea boots. After a few hours of walking in these they are so comfortable. I believe they will last for many years. I'm very happy that LL Bean employee suggested these boots.

Comfortable boots that you can dress up or down. Leather finish is solid. Because there's no laces (and I have narrow feet, I usually have to wear a thicker sock for a snug fit, despite going down a size.

Excellent fit and I was pleasantly surprised at the price. Such a well made boot for not a lot of money (comparatively). Tough to find anything better made these days.

Boots run loose and slide at the heel . Not true to size in fact even two sizes smaller still too wide at the arch but too short in length

I bought these a year or so ago. They are the most singularly uncomfortable boots I have ever owned. Occasionally I try them on again and wear them, no more! I'm just going to scrap them.
