Excellent traditional moc-toe chukka, and the 9-EE fitment was a perfect fit! Thanks, 'Bean.

Purchased these for our son. He loves them. He says they are comfortable and look great. Made well also. He definitely recommends them.

they are a little stiff and uncomfy to start, however after breaking them in they are great! I love LL bean and this product didn't disappoint. I work in my job walking around often and these hold up.

These boots are nice enough to wear to work on a casual day, but rugged enough for winter weather. Look just like pictured

The quality speaks for itself, it took some time for me to pull the trigger on these boots because I have bought boots from other companies that are similar, but not in this price range. This boot is worth the money.

Kind of stiff when first putting them on, which indicates they are just a little smaller than EE (at least on my feet). Hoping continued use will stretch them out.

Comfortable shoes without insulation making them good for warmer days. Heel permits gator strap.

The sizing is correct. The boot is comfortable and good looking. I wore the predecessor to this boot for a good many years. When Bean discontinued those I despaired of finding any shoes that would be a suitable replacement. The Allagash chukka has filled that role admirably. I'm pleased that I, once again, have a boot, that feels right, looks good and have the hallmarks of a product that will last for years!

Bean-style chukka is as I desired. Fit is good.Sole is very good in inclement weather. Suggested improvements: Would like padded tongue for comfort and loop at back for easier pull up.

The only concern that I have is that the boot had no lining. The last Allagash that I had came with a very nice leather lining that made the boot very comfortable and easier to put on.

These are not at all like the "original" bison leather with cow leather trim Allagash boots - very disappointing. Yes, they are well made, BUT.... they are very stiff and don't have the handy "loop" on the back for helping pull on the boots. Bought the same size as we did the "original" ones a couple years ago, which were very comfortable, and flexible and fit perfect out of the box.... These new all cow hide leather are very thick and stiff, and much tighter fit... had to buy shoe stretcher liquid and are in the process of spraying, wearing for an hour or two, and then taking off... repeat....repeat. We'll also be applying a leather softening oil preservative to try to get these more comfortable.

This is my third pair of these shoes, the second pair of boots. The previous ones were bison, which is no longer available. Earlier versions had a smooth leather lining which them slide on easily, the new ones do not. The fit is tight but not too tight. The construction is different and the seam at the heal catches on your socks if you don't use a shoe horn. After a few days they started to squeak from the tongue rubbing on the rough inside of the shoe. I added some proofing wax that eliminated the squeak. The old style bison was much better. I will wait to see is these last as long as my old ones (15 years).

I really wanted a pair of these boots. And I would really like to like them. They happen to be the most uncomfortable footwear I have worn in decades. They look really nice and are quite sturdy but there are a few drawbacks that are deal killers. The tongue is not padded and bites into one's skin when laced tightly. The tongue is stitched to the shoe and the seam lays across the top of one's foot and is uncomfortable. The shoe is unlined which allows the dye to transfer to one's socks. They're just socks, but still. The last straw is the padded collar that goes around the ankle. The padding is hard and it rides at mid-ankle. If it was higher, it may not be an issue but the point is moot. It feels like a rope tied around my ankle. So, these are going back. Bummer but to don't like having blisters and bruises around my ankles.

Looks like someone tried to combine a classic style with "doc" hipness on the tread, which is a most unfortunate combination. Appealing to college age hipsters with what should be a quality classic shoe is trying to do too much and missing it. Just off kilter.

Bought these along with the Stonington moc toe and I gotta say these are NOT as comfortable as the Stonington. They are a beautiful boot and the leather is so well finished and soft but the inside of the boot caused me to get a nasty blister on my daily walk even after wearing them around the house for several days to break them in. I would have spent a few more bucks to have a leather lining inside as the original Allagash was. LL Bean you kind of missed the mark on what could be a fabulous boot

After looking and waiting I finally able to catch the Allagash on the two-a-day sale. The boots arrived and were definitely a great LLB product.. They were well constructed, the leather was beautifully finished and I couldn't wait to try them on. I normally can wear either a 10.5 regular or wide and chose the wide for wearing with thicker socks. Sadly, the boots were way too narrow and overall too tight. Sadly they are packed up and headed to UPS for the return. Again, the shoe quality was great but they just did not agree with my weird feet.

These boots are exactly what I wanted. Cushioned and sturdy with good grip in the snow, yet also stylish enough for the office and social events. I found them comfortable out of the box and didn't encounter any of the issues other reviewers noted-- extended break in period, ankle chafing, etc. Also, I can understand why other reviewers might have wanted inner lining or a padded tongue (as there was for the older bison leather version of the Allagash) but for me there's no need. More to it, the jettisoning of the padded tongue and the contrasting leather trim from the old model makes the boot look a whole lot more streamlined and attractive now.
