Love the boots, but the sizing is way off. All of my Bean boots are size 9, but these 9s were HUGE! The 8.5 was still large, but the 8 was tight. Had to return.

I bought these boots are really like them, but why are they designed with no pull loop on the back?? It would be so much easier to get them on!!!

The toe box is all wrong honestly, but the tread is fantastic and they fit really well everywhere else. I sized up to an 11, and they push my big toe into the rest of my foot. The toe box is too short in height (like top to bottom), so they push down on your toes, but I still have a little room front to back. If you get these and the leather upper bothers your shins at first, don't worry, they wear in a little there to become comfortable in that area quite quickly.

I purchased my second pair of these boots after the zipper broke on my first pair. These boots are warm, comfortable, and have great traction for icy conditions. Unfortunately, because this is the second time that the zipper has broken on a pair of these in less than 2 years of wear, I will no longer be purchasing them and will try a different brand for my boots. I've always purchased LL Bean boots but can no longer justify the cost for the quality.

I have worn these in 3 to 5 in. snow and extreme cold for almost a month. I ordered a half size larger to be sure they fit with heavy socks. I am so disappointed. They are very difficult to get on. There is nothing to pull to get my foot into it. Once on they fit fine. The treads are ok in snow but are useless on ice. They do not keep my feet warm, in fact my feet are frozen after 15 min outside. And i can feel some dampness inside my foot. Not sure how they can be promoted as a water proof insulated winter boot. They are not.

Boots were comfortable, but it was evident that they had been worn before (due to multiple leather scuffs) and thrown back in the box to be resold. The size I need is not in stock and does not have an anticipated restock date for me to get replacement.

When I wore the boot for the first time it scraped my ankle to the point that it bled. I cannot wear this boot!

I have a pair of older Storm Chaser boots. I will need to replace them soon but I hate the new design. So upset since the original design was perfect. Easy on, good looking, functional and warm. I used them for everything. I can't understand why you would redesign the women's version and leave Men's version the same. I may try a mens boot but they are normally too wide in the heel for me. What a shame.

Treaded sole is moulded so stiff it's unbendable when walking.

I have a pair of the side zip storm chaser 5 that I absolutely love. since they don't have that awful chunky sole, I get away with wearing them with nicer pants in the winter when visiting customers, yet not looking like I'm wearing a snow boot. These new ones are very clunky and unfortunately, I just can't bring myself to buy them. I have tried them on several times. The ones I have will just have to last me a few more winters until I can find something comparable. I'm definitely disappointed.

I have had a pair of these boots for 6 or more years and loved them. The material on the top of the foot is degrading so I ordered another pair. The old design somewhat resembled Bean's classic boots and the new ones are like very ugly, taller than the old ones and chafed my legs the minute I walked in them. Also no pull tab at the back. I returned them immediately and I am very sad that they are so changed.

I should have listened to the reviews about the toe box. It’s way too narrow and shallow and uncomfortable. Your toes get squished. I tried my regular size and a half size up and both were fine in length but tight and uncomfortable in the toe box. I love the style and am bummed these didn’t work.

I do not recommend these boots because they are stiff and hit your upper leg when you walk. I will try attaching some sheepskin or flannel to the top edge, but shouldn't have to!

This is the second pair of these storm chaser boots that I have had. I really like them but they don't hold up well. I thought it might have been a fluke with the first pair so I ordered a second replacement pair. We haven't had much snow the last several years so they haven't gotten much use. You can tell by the soles that they are hardly worn. However the stitching along the upper part is coming apart and the rubber is split and cracking. Very disappointed in the quality.

I read other reviews and I should have listened! I really like the look and features of the boot, but the toe box is so strange and uncomfortable.

I so wanted this boot to work for me: It looks beautiful, stiff soled boot, slips on (mostly) and is one of the few LLbean winter boots that come in women's wide. But something is just wrong: VERY narrow toe box and yet too wide and wiggly in the midfoot and heel. Something is not right with the last on this women's wide. Luckily this year LLBean's wide snow sneaker is better than last year, so I bought a new pair of those.(they just don't look as cool...)

It's very heavy and the bottom of my feet hurts when I wear them. Also, it can be a little slippery. Bottom line, it would be a decent boots if it wasn't for the weight that they carry. Over the years Bean used to carry warm lightweight winter boots, I don't know what happened.

I needed new boots with tread for walking around the slippery college campus where I teach, and these looked great online. Ordered online then picked them up at local mall. Knew almost immediately I'd be returning them. Entry is far back on boot, very difficult to get on, and there are no loops or pull straps. Also, mine had obviously been returned--box was opened and beat up, and leather/surface was all scratched up. Disappointing and now I will be driving back to the mall after work.Maybe they'd work for you but try on in the store!

I had to return these. There was no arch support. I have wide feet, so I was looking for a roomy toebox. Oddly, these narrowed at the end of the foot and were quite uncomfortable (but plenty long). I can't answer the width question because they were both wide and narrow at the wrong places.

I just received my new storm chaser boots. This is the third pair I have purchased over the years because they were perfect outside in snow and cold. The boots kept my feet warm and dry for hours, sometimes all day as I work outside. But I was very disappointed with this pair, because they changed the style of the toe. Previous boots had a nice wide toe. Someone must have decided to make this more "stylish" for women, and now it has a narrow almost pointy toe. LL Bean people note: there are plenty of other stylish boots for non-serious "outsiders" to keep their feet warm for a few minutes or an hour or two. I might get a pair of Men's, but I'm not sure what size I wear in those, so now I'll have to wait until I get to a Bean store that has them in stock. Or I'll have to buy something else for the time being. Very frustrating.

I bought these for my wife and we are highly disappointed on the quality. First, no pull tab on back of the boot to help put on. All our other boots from LL Bean have this. Also, the quality is not there. Very thin, especially the upper portion. My wife said she likes her other boots we purchased from a competitor. We have spent thousands of dollars on Bean products over the years and usually have a positive experience with their products. Seem to have cut corners on this product.

I will be returning these boots. The upper part of the boot is too stiff and rubs against my leg as I walk in an irritating way.
