Sadly, an otherwise amazing shoe has been ruined by the "achilles pillow" - an unnecessary ridge of fabric in the heel that makes your foot feel like you're slipping out of the shoe, as well as gives you blisters. Heartbreaking, considering so other few options for a beautifully wide toebox on a shoe that's still cute. What were you thinking Altra? Please remake with out the unnecessary 'upgrades' just for marketing and trying to constantly iterate

I got these this spring and have been wearing them exclusively for hiking. I wanted something with more cushion for longer hikes but unfortunately I can't bear wearing them for anything over just a couple miles. The heel design is horrible and doesn't lock in my foot (even with different lacing methods), which causes the shoe to rub against the heel. My last straw was today when the it ripped off the skin on my heel. I really want to like altra but the constant redesigning of their shoes with no actual improvements makes it hard to keep giving them a chance.

Well, if the foot bed is too narrow for me there's nothing great about it

A family member loved her Olympus 5s for trail and recommended them to me at the end of the season so I tried the newest iteration when they were gifted to me. I would have returned them if I could have since they can only be used as a dog walking shoe for me. For starters, the shoe is really chunky and bulky, with the 3 inch foam block of a sole. The wide platform would be stable with the foam stiffness, but there is absolutely no ground-feel. To me, this completely defeats the purpose of a 0-drop shoe. To add to the unusual design, the upper is a flimsy mesh that makes your foot slide around on top of the platform, and the shoelaces are oversized and difficult to adjust since they barely fit through the lace holes. The heel cup is wider than any previous Altra I've had, so they no longer lock in my narrower heel. When I try using the extra lace hole, my toes just go numb when trying to tighten them adequately. The tongue also slides constantly out of place. This shoe looks and feels like a cheap walking shoe, but is set at a premium price. Anytime I try to actually run in them, my toe catches uncomfortably on the toe guard and I have no confidence in foot strike on trail. Re-market this as a dog walking shoe or a work shoe, Altra. What were you thinking?

My husband and I LOVED the early versions of the Olympus. Version 4 was my favorite! Version 5 did not have a wide enough toe box for my bunions. Version 6 is wider and I was so excited. Until 30 minutes into my walk/run I got a huge blister on my heel. I was so disappointed! My husband had the same issue. I really wanted them to work, so I bought a half size bigger and tried my workout again. Same problem. Remove the Achilles pillow!

When I purchased these shoes, the fit seemed perfect. I went to a trail and literally less than a 1 1/2 miles I had a blister on the back of my heel where the extra padding is located and I had to return them. I was so disappointed because they felt very comfortable until I actually had to use them. Based on the other reviews. It seems that the additional cushioning is problematic and should be reconsidered.

Achilles pad in last pair wore out quickly; got a new on warranty. New not as squishy as last. Within 10 min had plantar pain. Within week had heal blisters. 6 weeks in, I have Achilles tendonitis.

I've been running in Altra shoes since 2019 and have worked in the running shoe industry. These are an absolute miss for me. The Achilles pillow destroys the fit. My heel slips up and down completely, and so I am going to buy the Olympus 5. Even when I laced them as tight as I could my heel slipped still and it began to hurt the rest of my foot from how tight the laces were. Altra please return to the minimalist approach, nobody asked for this change.

Backpacked 14 miles wearing these and got the worst, open, raw, painful blister on my achilles. I have worn the Lone Peaks backpacking for years with no foot problems (from 4's to current version). These Olympus 6's are awful!

I have wore the olympus si ce I started trail running. Loved 4's and the 5's. Ive bought at least 10 pair. I was so excited for the 6. That Achilles heal cushion has absolutely ruined this shoe. I Loved everything else about it but that pad is terrible. I can not run in these. Im going to have to find another brand unless the heel goes back to it is in the 5's. I hoping my last 5's hold out till I see what they do for a 7!

I really wanted these to work. I have two pairs of the 5's and was excited to get the 6's. I've worn them a handful of times, trying to change socks, but still end up with blisters each time. Had a big run today preparing for a race and was devastated when I took my shoes off to see the damage that Achilles pad did. I love Altra's and have trail, road and hiking shoes from you guys and it sucks that these just didn't work out.

I have put less than 20
Miles on these shoes and the tread is falling off, and the fabric near the ankle has a hole in it. These are way too expensive for this low of quality. Stay away.

I loved the Olympus 5. Now they added a roll of padding behind the heel that gave me blisters.

Olympus 6. Too massive shoe tongue. Narrow under the heel- where the sole cast is raised, the shoe is oddly shaped there and it pushes very much into the heel.

High arches, high insteps, hallux limitus (big toe arthritis) mean I need a wide toe box. Podiatrist had recommended Altra but so far only LP Alpine fits, no others Altra advised. Frustrating.

I just bought Olympus 6. Grey &white size 8. Just ran 16.5 trail run. I have never had a problem wearing right out of box! The pad in the heel area rubbed a blister on outside bottom of both ankles! They also don't feel as cushioned as the other Olympus. They are my go to trail running shoe. Not sure what to try next!

Wore these for a 10 mile hike this weekend and by mile two both of my heals had hot spots. Ended the hike with both heels complete torn up. I’ve worn Lone Peaks for years with no issues on technical hikes around the world, but I wanted to try something cushier that would transition between walking and trail running. These seemed promising but that heel pad is a disaster. I should have heeded the other reviews!!
Sadly, Zappos has ended their Runlimited guarantee for running shoes, so I’m stuck with these. Good reminder not to buy running or other athletic shoes from Zappos unless you already know they work! Back to the Lone Peaks for me…which I’ll be buying elsewhere.

Well, they say never meet your idols. I was extremely excited about it these shoes so it was a big let down. I got these to have as an every day shoe for work. I realized that the way the shoe wraps around my Achilles makes it rub. I compared them to my lone peak 8's (my fav altras so far) & the heel cup on the Olympus 6 is noticeably more shallow. They're going back to the store tomorrow.

Faithful to Olympus 5 & prior iterations for thru hikes, unfortunately Olympus 6 destroyed my feet. The new heel cup left me w deep large blistersstill healing a wk later. The new sole is uncomfortably firm for hours of backpacking. Unfortunately will NOT buy again, NOR recommend.

I have been wearing Altras for years now. I wear my Escalantes for work. Lone Peak and Supriors for trail running and Torins for road or hard packed less technical trails. ALTRA gave me this free product to try and so I did. High stack height leads to feeling unstable on technical terrain and can definitely lead to ankle injuries. High cushion I will give them that, but when I run trail I want to be able to feel the trail and react to the surface I am running on. I am sure these shoes have their place somewhere. Just nothing technical.
