I have a super high arch and wide feet. I've hard the hardest time finding shoes that are comfortable and don't give me shin splints or another type of injury. These are amazing. Great grip, comfortable, arch support. I'm looking for regular running shoes that mimic these so I can wear something similar off the trail. Thank you Altra!

I live in bishop and run sierra trails everyday. Some of the most rugged terrain you can get on. over the past year I've ran 1,000's miles in these! Several high elevation 50k's and even a 100 miler in October. Total upgrade from the Olympus 5 the Vibrum has held together much better, the upper way more durable. After a year of use they look as if they could last another year. The fabric around the ankle has torn now but I still run these just fine!

I've owned over 50 pairs of Altras, including multiple pairs of every version of the Olympus. I've always been thrilled with them right out of the box, until the Olympus 6. The Olympus 6 gave me a giant blister on my heel on the first 5-mile run. The heel cushion in the middle of the back of the shoe rubs in exactly the wrong spot. This shoe is a giant miss. I don't understand why running shoe companies change a good thing.

Ive been a big fan of the Olympus for years and several versions. They lost me on this one. It is a tighter fit, which feels a little better than the 5 on technical terrain. They hold my feet well and don't slip as much as past iterations. But that Achilles pillow is a horrible design. It is a blister machine. I've never had blister issues with the Olympus in the past but this new "pillow" just compresses and all that folded fabric and stitching rubs like crazy. I'm surprised it passed testing without a ton of complaints because I'm hearing it from everyone. It's too bad.

I buy the Olympus style of Altra. It is the only Altra style I have tried. I am a FedEx delivery driver, and I make 180 to 200 deliveries a day. I am constantly moving across different types of terrain from concrete, grass, mud, sticks, and gravel. Not to mention the several thousand stair steps I go up and down every day. I average in between 13 to 16 miles a day, 6 days a week. I can usually get about 6 to 8 months out of a pair. That is the main reason I have stuck with the Altra brand. I have tried about 5 other brands, but I can only usually get about 3 months out of a pair. The soles just get worn down too quickly.

The 30-day trial period sold me on trying them. Avid hiker with a skinny foot was impressed that the shoe did not slip at the heel. Love the cushion.

I've owned the Olympus 5 and a version of the Lone Peak. The Olympus 6 is a significant upgrade from the version 5. The issues I had with the version 5 have been improved in the version 6 including a feeling of my toes pressing up on the seam of the toe cap (uncomfortable and annoying) and the heel being pretty loose. They seem to have modified the construction of the toe cap over the upper to make it more streamlined so I can't feel that anymore. With the added padding in the heel cup it's definitely better than before. If I had a suggestion, I'd say they need to narrow the heel cup a little bit and raise the sidewalls in the next version and this shoe would be perfect. Impact cushion is amazing, the look is great and the durability seems to have been improved from the already pretty durable version 5. I would recommend.

I have flat feet, and nothing, and I do mean nothing else, came close to the comfort of these shoes. I assume the people who didn't like the shoes in the comment section must have high arches because these shoes are best for people with flat feet. I've tried dozens of Brands and by far this is the most comfortable other than a few from Skechers I found but I needed some shoes that had better traction in the winter time where I live in Alaska and these shoes definitely do that, I have traction Everywhere I Go. Outstanding shoes! Again for reference I have big size 13 flat feet so there's just not much to choose from for people with such low arches as myself, I am so grateful I found these shoes. They are simply wonderful. If you need art support these might not be the best for you, though you can always buy inserts, there's so many companies out there now selling inserts it should be pretty easy to find some that would help you if you have high arches. As for those of us with flat feet, you'd be hard pressed to find a better shoe. Also I've not had the material issues that some other people reported, perhaps a bad batch when a, they make so many of these shoes that's bound to happen. Quality of my shoes so far has been excellent. Have worn them all over the United States and Canada, no issues. I highly recommend.

Really great high stack trail shoe, still nimble and responsive, but like walking on clouds at the same time. I honestly don't like taking them off. My only complaint which isn't really a complaint is the color way, It's not sand it's grey, like grey grey in real life. Don't get me wrong it looks great, it's just not what I was expecting. All the others look the same irl, it's just the sand.

I tried these at the suggestion of my CrossFit coach. I'm a former collegiate athlete who's been on a weight loss journey the past few years. I bought a pair of Hoka Challenger ATR 6 and a pair of Altra Olympus 6. I've decided to stick with the Altra. The wide toe and heel boxes and the zero drop were the difference in comfort and wearability. The shoe construction is top notch. This shoe holds up under my 290+ lbs as every day wears. I now have two pair. It's made walking, running, and workouts safer, and more comfortable for my aging, sports embattled knees and hips. I'll be a customer for life. I'm wearing them with race laces for a great, snug fit and they're giving me life.

I've put almost 100 miles in them and they've held up great, first time with a wide toe box and zero drop. Still getting used to the drop but the room for your toes is awesome. No durability issues and no rubbing from the achilles pad. Rocks, mud, uphill or downhill they have been great.

I got these after having the Olympus 5's and really liking them for hiking. I don't find many Altra's aesthetically pleasing, but these Olypus 6's may be changing all that. These look as good as they feel, and they feel amazing. Tons of support, tons of grip, and the padding around the ankle is 2nd to none. Whereas I would ONLY wear the Olympus 5's to go hiking, I'll be wearing the 6's proudly out and about in public.

My initial experience with the 6 was mixedit felt a bit stiffer than the 5 and less ready for an out of the box big run. However, after a few runs of 5-6 miles, they've settled in and have turned out to be excellent shoes. Supportive as you'd expect from an Olympus, and ready for any terrain. Mine now have nearly 100 miles on them, including a 50k, and I haven't had any issues with the heel feature (but it is a change over earlier editions). While it's still too soon to say whether it's my favorite edition yet (I loved 4 and 5), overall I'm sufficiently pleased to snag another pair.

This may be my favorite Altra shoe. I also have the Escalante 4, Lone Peak 8, and Via Olympus 2, all in size 12 (same for Olympus 6). I see some complaining about sizing in these reviews. The truth is that you need to tie zero drop shoes tighter than normal shoes. When I've left them loose, I've had my feet slip forward and bruised my toes, but when they are tight, this does not occur. This is especially important for the higher stack shoes like the Olympus 6 and Via Olympus 2 because the toeboxes are large and will not automatically secure your feet unless you tie them tight enough. The Olympus 6 is great because it has a lot of cushioning without the heavily rockered feel of the Via Olympus 2. The insole of the Via Olympus 2 is also more "supportive" in a bad way that can result in blisters, especially around the heel. The Olympus 6 simply lets my heel sit where it needs to and is still secure. I would have expected the opposite given the use cases. I can easily take the Olympus 6 on my eight mile loop down and up two hills for about 1,300 feet of elevation, with some on trails and some on road/sidewalk. The shoes always feel secure and stable. I also use these on wet/snowy days on the road/sidewalk. I'm tempted to use them on dry days too because of how much more I like them compared to the Via Olympus 2. I hope the Via Olympus 3 is more like the Olympus 6 in terms of the gait/"rocker" and the insole.

I wear these while I teach and it helps my knee tendons heal since I tore them. I'm on my feet all day. Going outside in New England in the winter is no problem in these shoes. I'll try hiking when my knee heals but they are so attractive, I don't want to get them dirty. I love these shoes!

These shoes work very well for me with the way the heel secures the shoe to my foot while allowing my toes plenty of room. I like them so much that I bought 3 pairs.

I need to replace my Lone Peaks (which are total junk now) after the sole started to detach while I was hiking in Wyoming this summer. I bought the Olympus 6 to hike Mt. Whitney and Half Dome in October. I didn't get to hike Whitney due to weather, but did various hikes in Sequoia and Kings Canyon. These shoes handled wonderfully. The granite in Yosemite was the true test. I hiked roughly 16 miles to and from the half dome summit. These shoes were comfortable, stable, and had excellent grip and traction. I've read that the vibram on these has peeled off for other customers. It may be too soon to tell, but the construction and quality of these shoes seems to be built to last. Great shoes overall and I would recommend to anyone looking for more cushion and support for long distance hikes.

These are my 3rd pair of ultras and this particular pair being with the most cushion, I didn't think I would like it, but Altra AGAIN, has made me a huge fan by the way they make their shoes. I have had zero issues with the Olympus 6s. They are meant for trail but I wear them on the street as well when I'm training. I've read other reviews about heel spillage, but me personally I have not experienced anything like that, if anything just tighten the laces and it's gone. Again, the wide toe box has relieved my foot and ankle pain. I've tried every brand out there and 'these' are the ones. I highly recommend.

I have very wide feet. I mostly wore sandals, even when running, until I bought my first Altras (Lone Peak). Finally, shoes that fit! I still ran in sandals, then ran into a sharp rock with my heel, and ended up with planar fascitis. Lone Peak was no longer cushy enough, so I bought Olympus. I've been wearing them non-stop for the past 5 weeks. They've been really good, comfy, no pain at all when I wear them. Never thought I'd enjoy such thick soles, but I do. And they look cute. Thanks Altra for making shoes I can wear.
