I have owned many iterations of the Columbia Trailstorm over the years and have been very happy with them. The latest iteration, the Trailstorm Ascend, is no exception. It is a lightweight and comfortable shoe that works equally well as an everyday shoe and as a light hiking boot. It is not 100% waterproof, but it is sufficiently water resistant to keep my feet dry under all but the most extreme conditions, and it is more breathable than shoes that are fully waterproof. The shoe is very durable; the previous model lasted me well over 1,000 miles. All in all, a great shoe at an outstanding value.

Recently wore these on a 5 mile hike, no problems with soreness anyhere on feet. As for waterproofing , in light rain it keep me dry enough (it's a low top). Only issue for me is the tongue of shoe is bit stiffer than i like.

Super comfy shoe. Fits just like a pillow and are very lite. I use them for work considering I am on my feet a lot. I recommend these shoes!!

These make an incredibly annoying noise like foam crunching, windbreakers rubbing, or light snow crushing with every single step. It is loud enough that my kids across the room asked me to stop. It seems to be the way the waterproofing and mesh layers interact. I see now some reviews mention this. I wish I knew if it would stop over time because they seem great otherwise, but I can't walk through life sounding like a bubble party.

Shoes have a strange sound and are ok. It hasnt gone away also feels the same quality as the shoes I bought last year from columbia. They are EXPENSIVE and are not bad but may only last you a year at most.

I had the previous model which I'd used for two years and they were getting worn out. I bought them because they had good snow/ice traction ratings so I was hoping these would match that. So far these do seem pretty solid on snow and ice to the point I'm wearing these and other folks have cleats on!

A great shoe over all I do have one criticism the tread at the very front is almost set up to make you trip if you step just right on something like a metal reinforcement that is hanger thing. But the odds of that happening to someone else I think it's very low.

Shoe is great. Not 100% waterproof (you want that, get a boot); but water proof enough to keep feet dry in sloshing dirty city snow, ice, rain, blind depth sidewalk tactile curb stepoff. NOTE, shoe does run small so buy a half size higher AND you have to wear the laces somewhat loose as the toe box is a bit tight.

Really want to love this shoe but....it makes too much noise. It's like a crunching sound similar to when you wear those old track suits from the 90's. Very sad I need to return it cause it's such a good fit, comfortable, and nice style but the sound it makes ruins it.
