The size: I ordered this in black, in a size 8-1/2 wide. I was shocked to find these nearly a full size too long for my foot. That never happens to me. If anything, I usually find shoes and boots these days to be just slightly too small, but not small enough to go up a size or a half size. The width...meh. I rated these true to width, but they were slightly tighter than what I consider a wide to be. Though these were a bit long for me, I kept them so that I could wear heavy boot socks with them. The positives: These boots are incredibly warm. You could be in the cold with these for hours and your feet would sweat. (Unfortunately, they are not comfortable enough to want to wear for hours.) The styling is very attractive. Not clunky looking, not utilitarian looking, just good-looking. The negatives: These boots have zero arch support. The footbed is as flat as a piece of plywood. The flatness of the footbed, in and of itself, makes this boot uncomfortable. Also, there is barely any padding in the footbed. I honestly have no idea how people are rating these as comfortable. (For reference, I am 5'7" and 140 lbs.) This is one of the most generic footbeds in a boot that I have ever worn. (I have a 30-year-old pair of Sorels that have mushed padding that is still more cushy than these.) I expected much more from a Columbia boot. I've owned Sorel, Columbia boots, Kamiks, and LL Bean boots in the past. This pair of Columbia Minx Shorty IV boots are nowhere near as good as any of what I have owned in the past. Extremely disappointing to spend so much money for uncomfortable footwear.

The boot was on the small side and didn’t feel well made. Sent them back. On the side of Columbia they were less expensive than most but I need a well made boot and would rather pay more?

These boots felt true to size and are VERY warm and cozy, however, they have nearly no arch support, and that combined with a very un-flexible sole meant that it kind of felt like I was walking around with a board on the bottom of each foot. In addition, they have to be laced very tightly to keep your toes from sliding to the front, which would be OK, except they don't have side zippers, so they have to be entirely unlaced to take them off.
