Apparently, people are too lazy to read before they buy. Doc Martens run true to size...if you buy the right size to begin with. I wear a US women's 10. That corresponds to a UK 8. Rule of thumb for most women's Docs: whatever the UK size is, it is 2 sizes bigger for US women i.e. UK 7 = US 9 ... UK 8 = US 10. Not hard at all if you can read. Docs were a better quality in the past as they were made in England. Now they are made in China. This is definitely the consumer's loss. You can still find them made in the UK, but you have to invest time looking. To me, that time is worth it. If I'm going to part with this much money for footwear, it's going to be well-made footwear! 1460's are still my favorite style of Doc Martens.

These are so cool! But they seem to run big. I am going to try the next size down, after first ordering my usual size.

I got my first pair of Docs (1460s of course) last year and they are the most comfortable and useful shoes I've ever had! Super stylish too! I would recommend them to anyone and everyone.

These shoes run fairly big so I had to purchase them half a size smaller than usual. I'm normally a 5.5, purchased the US 6 at first, then exchanged them for US 5. The 5's are about 1/2 a size too big still but the 8-eye lacing makes them feel perfect. They are so comfortable and classic.

These boots are awesome! I must say. Zappos is awesome, too. It is my Favorite place to shop. I have gotten my parents shopping here too. They just bought these for my daughter Alexis for her 14 Birthday and she loves them! My Mom was so happy with the customer service at Zappos. They are always so friendly and kind. The shipping was so fast! Two days! That is great customer service! Thank you, Zappos. You are our favorite place and we tell everyone about you! These boots are hot! The are heavy duty and a great price! The style is awesome! You will love them! They are great! I am a shoe queen and I know good boots and these definitely are! You will love them! Thanks, Zappos! You rock!

There's a reason that, fifty-two years after they first came out, the Dr. Martens boot is still selling strong with no sign of letting down. They are just so damn comfortable and stylish without going flamboyant in design. I bought my first pair when I was eighteen and a half, back in 2010, in white. All the comfort I expected, as well as the compliments, came, but white wasn't simply me (I wanted black, but the store was permanently out of it). But just a few days ago, in Hong Kong, desperate for a new pair of shoes, I bought a black nappa pair in the same size - I wear a US 8 for boots although my foot is a US 7. Since black was the color I felt looked best (apart from aztec), I was beyond satisfied. They look really cool with jeans any shade of blue or even shorts - tomorrow I'm wearing them to university in the latter. Although they look small on your feet when you look down, looking in a mirror shows otherwise, and they actually make you look a lot cooler. Even better, the expected period of breaking-in hell lasted literally only a few minutes - I briefly wore them in the hotel and back home in Manila, and before the first hour was up my Docs felt like I'd had them forever! I see one previous review attributes this to the nature of nappa leather, so I'm glad I got it (I was hoping I had the black greasy style). The made-in-England pair was almost twice as expensive as the made-in-China pair, and I'm just a student living on allowance, so I bought the latter - but all the stories about poor Chinese quality seem to not apply here. I'm very hard on shoes, especially as I walk a lot, and I have a seven-year-old pair of CAT boots (made in China!) that have gone through eons of abuse and are still in perfect condition now (except for the cleanliness). Besides, I'm sure Dr. Martens ensures quality control so manufacturing in China would not really compromise quality especially now, now that so many have complained. (They list the 1460 as part of the Material Updates collection, so I'm expecting to attribute my boots' near-excellent quality here). I expect I would be able to wear these even with formal attire or even for things such as running (though I should not be so hard on them in this case!), and I would gladly buy this style many times over, both again in black and in other colors. I've made another leather companion for life.

Bought these for my son. He loves them. He did have to size up. I was vexed that they went in sale right after I bought them, but he needed them right away so what can you do?

I'm on my third pair of these boots. Comfortable, go with almost everything. It's like the boot molds its form to your foot.

Great boot. These last for 18 months of light duty use and then become yard boots. Uppers never fall apart and polish out very well.

I love these boots. They're comfortable, dressy enough for business or casual. I did darken the yellow stitching with a sharpie. They shine up nicely.

The shoes are great. That's a given; they're Doc Martens.
But the service from Zappos was the best I've ever had anywhere. I ordered on Saturday, and by Monday they were on my doorstep. Customer for life now.

Okay, I'm 8.5 and 5'7" and after reading that "63% Felt true to size", I decided to ignore the people that said it runs way too big so I bought an 8uk which is supposed to be 8.5/9 according to DM page...but they really run big, like a half or an entire size. These shoes are huge. Trust me, they won't look small if you get one size down...the design - it's amazing. I have nothing to complain about that so if you are a half size like me you should get one size down unless you are tall...or a clown.

Color is really cool! Kind of dark red brown. Classic Docs feel great and soft, broken in sort of. Can't go wrong, compliments left and right.

Well worth the price. I love Docs...I wear a half size so I buy them a size bigger and then put inserts in. They are the most comfortable work boot you will find.

I bought these recently and I have been doing some reading online on a lot of reviews on what size to get and mostly everyone says get a size down or something but for me I got my actual size and they fit fine, althought it would of been better if Dr Martens made half sizes but they do not, so I just got a size 8 in womens and they fit just fine. I tried on the size 7 in womens and they were just too tight for me, so I definitely recommend getting your actual size. But I also recommend going to a store and trying them on so you know what size to get for sure. They are great shoes that are very comfortable. They are easy to wear with jeans and what not! This is my first pair of boots and I love them!

When I was a teenager, back in the early 90's, I scrimped and saved my pennies for months and months so that I could buy my very own pair of Docs. I wore them the last two years of high school, all through college, every single day for many years of work in restaurants and kitchens. They finally gave up the ghost about three years ago, after lasting through a good many years of very hard use. I was sad to think that I would never own another pair. I have bad feet, though (see years of working in kitchens) and no pair of boots that I have owned has come close in comfort to my good old Docs. Finally, sick of wearing nothing but sneakers or suffering agony all day, I sucked it up, encouraged by favorable reviews, and bought a pair of Docs again. I ordered the Aztec, since that was the only pair in my size that Zappos had available, and since I do not feel quite punk rock enough anymore to pull off a cherry pair. The leather feels good and sturdy and has a nice distressed look, so that I was able to wear them without them screaming "We are new shoes!" The pictures really do not do them justice. I carefully inspected all the seams and stitching and was pleasantly surprised to see that it looks as good and heavy duty as ever. They were comfortable out of the box, without the agony I remembered from breaking in that first pair long ago. In fact, I put them on and went straight on a road trip, where they remained comfortable and wonderful while I ran around like a maniac setting up an art event. I credit their comfort, and my lack of aching feet, for the continued survival of a particularly rude parking warden. I will have to wait and see how long they last, but right now I am surprised how pleased I am with them. As comfortable as they are out of the box, I hope they get even better as they break in the way Docs do. And as always, Zappos is wonderful and their shipping is amazingly fast. I got these boots within two days of placing my order even though they were going to a PO box and the Zappos representative warned me that it might take a week.

Good boots overall. They are darker than the online picture, but still look good. The leather is much softer than other Docs I have, so they didn't take as long to break in. I've noticed Docs nowadays fit a bit larger. I wear 10.5 but I have 3 pairs of Docs in 10 that fit fine.

I've been wearing Doc's for a very long time.Greasy 8 holes, monkey boots, creepers,(they were my go to night shoe in the late 80s.)I'm not a loafer or Rockport chukka kinda guy.Dr. Martens are a staple of my wardrobe. The sizing is the same as it has been forever.I'm a size 9 or 9.5 foot.A size 9 USA does the trick every time.I always put a footbed in them due to the lack of arch support. The quality isn't as great as it was 20 years ago,but what is.If you have owned Doc's in the past and liked them then buy them.If you have never had a pair and are thinking about it, well you probably shouldn't buy them. You just won't get it.As always Zappos was timely with the delivery and i would not shop for footwear anywhere else.Like Dr. Martens, Zappos is where it's at.

The last Dr. Martens (1460s) I owned lasted for over five years of heavy use. They were produced in England. These ones were produced in Vietnam - so it will be interesting to see how long they last. They broke in quickly and look great. I would recommend to anyone. I had to order a full size smaller than last time too?

I knew I wanted Doc Martens for my next pair of boots. I found the 1460's at a sporting goods store in Minnesota for less than Zappos, so I placed an order. A week later the email read 'the item you ordered is not available in your size. I have canceled your order and closed your account'. Nice. I knew I should have shopped at Zappos. I placed my order, and two days later I am stylin' in my Doc Martens. Why did I think I should have gone anywhere else?!

These are fantastic boots. I've worn Doc Martens for more than 15 years now, and each time I get close to wearing out one pair, I immediately start shopping for my next. Here are a couple points to consider before buying these boots: 1) They run a bit large. I wear a US size 10 for everything (running shoes, basketball shoes, dress shoes, and so on), but I had to go with a UK 8 (US size 9) for these boots because the UK 9s were way too big. 2) These boots need be broken in a bit before they start fitting comfortably. If you are a first-timer to wearing Doc Martens boots, don't give up on them just because they don't feel good at the beginning. I would suggest just wearing them around the house for a couple hours at a time for the first week or so, and after that they should feel great.
