23 marathons, 2 full Ironman's, and countless 70.3's... I have run in every shoe known to runners. Mizuno's, Saucony's, Brooks, Asics, Hoka's... every model every brand. Here's what I would say about this shoes - you're not going to set a PR for fastest mile time BUT I doubt that's what Brooks had in mind when they made these. I would compare the Ghost Max's to the Hoka's Bondi lineup. They are super padded, bouncy, springy, and surprisingly really refreshing on the knees. When I got these shoes to test out, my go to runners were the Saucony endorphin pro 4's. I started out by wearing these shoes to work... where I stand on my feet in the OR for 10 hours at a time. WOW. I was very very pleasantly surprised. I have tried crocs, clogs, Hoka's, even New Balance's Fresh Foams... pretty much anything that could add some relief throughout a 10 hr day on my feet to my knees, ankles, and soles. 10/10 these took the cake. Next I decided I would start to wear them in a more active setting when I was walking my dog. Again, very pleasantly surprised by the spring and cushion of these shoes. Finally, I decided I would take them for a true test drive during a night run. Completely different experience from my Saucony's, but not a bad one. Despite the literature, the nenefit, and the buzz, I am a heel striker and at this point in my life, I am not going to change that. What I noticed was that these shoes almost seemed to help my running mechanics by softening my heel strike and propelling my feet and ankles through the transition. I would not describe these shoes as fast. But I would describe them as extremely comfortable and enjoyable for someone looking to stay in shape and preserve their joint health. These are perfect for wearing all day in a job where you are on your feet AND they are perfect for someone who wants to stay in shape, casually run or walk, and wants to enjoy their workout.

Nice looking shoe. Good arch support. Shorter than most Brooks I've tried. It rubbed my big toe on the front edge. Shoe was nice enough that I'm ordering a 1/2 size up. Item was definitely used. Had a few scuffs on the outer material and the footbed was covered in dog hair.

These shoes are great for marathon training. Lots of ankle stability and cushion for medium and long distance running. They wash easily and are made out of durable materials.

I have been wearing new balance 4e for years and they seem narrower now. These are my first brooks shoes and the soles are so nice. The width is great for 4e, I recently had bunion surgery and am having the other foot done soon. I will probably buy more brooks brand shoes just for the cushioned soles.

I love these shoes. This color way was not my favorite, so I sent them back, but they fit true and are very comfortable.

I really wanted to keep these shoes, but when I tried them on my weird middle toe (the longest), which leans to the left, bumps into the left side of the toe box where it narrows. Other reviews mentioned that these shoes are a bit short, and that's how they feel to me, but it could be my slanted toe. The Brooks website recommends the Addiction shoe for me, so I'll return these and try those.

I had Brooks shoes before and have always liked them. I do put in inserts for better arch support. This has helped in the past with previous plantar fasciitis. I am currently only a walker, but at a 15-16 minute pace.

The Ghost Max series have been the most comfortable Brooks I've ever worn. I don't notice a lot of diff between the 1 and 2, but both feel like walking on a cloud. I'd never pay full price though since there's no rush to over pay for hyped up shoes.

Pretty chonky shoe. I'm using it primarily as my indoor trainer. However, I did use for a long run and the cushion felt good deep into the run.

Walk 5 miles 4 times a week. Wore out my other Brooks shoes and gave the Ghost Max 2 a try. NOT DISAPPOINTED! They fit snug but not too snug, the cushion provided makes the road soft yet supported. I enjoy hitting the road with these shoes.

Great shoe. First, as somebody with extra-wide feet, I have to say that what originally got me buying Brooks products and keeps me coming back is that Brooks offers high quality, high-end wide shoes that truly are wide and have sensibly a reasonably "foot-shaped" forefoot. Many manufactures sell shoes as being wide, but from my experiences and from their reviews, they are not even close to being wide enough for many customers. And Brooks offers a "wide" range of models in WIDE and EXTRA-WIDE versions - currently there are 10 men's styles available in EXTRA-WIDE. As for the Ghost Max 2 specifically, it is the most comfortable shoe I've ever worn. Plush cushioning combined with a soft, breathable upper that doesn't have any pressure points and is available with plenty of forefoot room, all while still being quite lightweight, adds up to a shoe you can wear all day without any issues. The only thing about these shoes that could be better would be to offer a more supportive insole, but for many people the stock insoles might be fine. Decades of racing bicycles and playing tennis have left me with some some foot issues, and I need extra support in the metatarsal/ball of foot area, so I remove the original insoles and replace with Abeo 3D3 Max Performance Orthotic insoles. These take Brooks's already fantastic shoes to an even higher level.
