Been wearing ASICS Gel Kayano for 20+ years. Some design changes are good, others great and others horrible- for my feet. Knowing this, I read many reviews, watch videos etc of the latest design when ready to buy. This redesign provide excellent stability. And they breathe well too. The heel cushion is in the outside of the shoe, not the interior section directly under ones heel, which is perfect (for me). I have flat, wide feet and for me the 7 wide in this latest redesign is a bit too wide for one of my feet, but that’s always a risk, easily remedied with thicker socks. Love this latest Gel Kayano.

The show felt narrow in the toe. Almost 1/2 size smaller. I miss the old Kayano

The last pair of Aisics I bought were the Gel Kayano 29 Narrow Width fit my very narrow feet like a glove. I loved them. and have worn them out. The Gel Kayano 31 Narrow width that I just purchased fit completely different. They are bulky and very wide for my foot through the toe and arch area. I'm so disappointed. Fortunately, Zappos allows me that freedom. Thank you very much Zappos:)

I have over pronation and was told that I needed stability shoes. I wanted to try out ASICS because I like their mission statement and core values. However, I wish they had more lenient return policies like other companies because theres no way for me to tell whether the shoes will fit me right or not until I have actually run or walked in them. These shoes feel good if I walk slowly but if I try to speed walk or run, I feel a lot of pain in my soles. Unfortunately, they wouldnt take them back so Im stuck with these and they were very pricey. The shoes look and feel are good. Quality seems okay although its too early to tell how well theyll hold up

I do not like the increase in height around my ankle. Everything else is great.

I have been looking for workout shoes that can handle my obese size. Normally I destroy shoes after a few times wearing them, and they hurt my feet. Totally counterproductive since I'm trying to exercise and lose weight. These have held up to daily 30 minute aerobic sessions with no sign of giving out. Before trying these shoes I was almost crippled with pain on my feet. I was afraid I would lose the ability to walk, and this gave me the push I needed to try better shoes. I highly recommend these shoes, especially if you have wide feet, or if exercise gives you pain. I was also surprised how other aches and pains improved with these shoes, such as my back and knees. I have hope now, thank you.

I had a horrible experience with these shoes and ASICS as a whole. Wore them once, experienced severe pain due to a defect on one shoe and the company is refusing to exchange for a pair of shoes (or even just one shoe) without the defect. I told customer service that the defect can be felt on the shoe and is unlikely to be seen very well on a photo. They are refusing to take this into consideration. We were told twice that we would be receiving a call from management, which we never did. Extremely unprofessional, I will not ever recommend a pair of ASICS due to their lack of professionalism, decency, and poor customer service.

my first pair of gel kayanos was the 27s. love the default wider shoe and toe box. super comfy. these 30s are still wide in the right spots and mostly comfy but im not the biggest fan of the super high stack and bulky look. i miss the more grounded feel and compact look of the 27s. while marketed as a stability shoe, my weak right ankle hates the squishy high stack and i end my shift with more ankle pain. ill stick to using these in the gym or for walking versus standing work shifts.

Heavy, bulky, and no longer the pillow feel when you first put them on. Ive been wearing this particular style for 10 years as a healthcare worker and after purchasing these I will no longer wear asics. Not the shoe it once was. Do not recommend.

The shoes are so comfortable, but I had to go up 1/2 a size for the length. Unfortunately the shoe was too wide and my foot didn't stay in place when I went up in size.

Not a true narrow shoe. I had previously purchased the gel Kayano 28 and they fit my very narrow, skinny, and flat feet perfectly. The unfortunately did not - my foot shifted around a lot, even when tightened well. They needed to be returned. Please make them a true narrow again!

Please, please, bring back the 28 model. The new model not only looks ridiculous but isn't half as comfortable. I bought the 30's and returned and now tried the 31's and sending back as well. They are too wide & bulky. I have worn Asics for 20 years and now in search of a replacement model. So sad.

Had to return. Very different from the Kayano 30, which I love. Boxier and less padded.

I was a loyal Asics Gel-Kayano fan since I ran my first marathon in 1999. But thte past few designs of this shoe have deteriorated in quality and stability. The latest version, the 31, actually gave me footpain. Please go back to the older designs that promoted stability.

The shoe now propels you forward, rolling like a Hoka. I returned it right away. ASICS is getting away from what it did so well.

I have been wearing Kayanos for the past 13 years, to the point my mom would buy then for me every christmas and birthday because those are MY shoes and nothing else would do. Then came the 31s and they look like Hokas, and the heel depth is huge. I feel like I am falling forward. The difference from 29 to 30 to 31 is crazy. Sometimes change is good but if I wanted a Hoka, I would have bought Hokas.

Gone is the shoe Ive ran religiously in for 15 years and now its been replaced with a clunky platform shoe that feels like its taped on your foot with masking tape because the quality has gone down so much. Kayano set itself apart for years as being the highest stability shoe on the market with neat looking outer guide rail placement. Now it looks like every other shoe and doesnt do the job it advertises. The width has gotten wider and the stack height is ridiculous, not to mention the stability has gone way down. Have a wide option for a reason, no need to widen the whole line. The 28 was the last decent Kayano, minus the heal material breaking down prematurely. Asics do yourself a favor and bring back the best stability shoe on the market and set yourself apart again!

Oh ASICS what have you done to the Gel-Kayano! Ive been wearing these shoes for a long long time and I just go from one model to the next but this 31 is so different and not as comfortable to me. I do love the heal and that it comes up higher on my anklegreat support there but the foot bed is completely different to me and not as comfortable. By the end of the day my feet actually hurt and that has never happened with a Kayano before.
If you could combine the heal and the higher support with the Kayano 28 it would be an awesome shoe! The 28 was great!

DO NOT BUY. I have been wearing versions of the Gel Kayano for years for my long and short runs. There has been nothing comparable in the past in terms of stability, cushion, and quality. With that said this updated Kayano 31 does not have the same kind of high quality cushion and stability I am used to (and need for my hip).
