I bought this bag spring 2021 to use for my office job. Not long after the top part of the outer right strap began fraying. After a year of use the satin binding on the interior of both straps began pilling. However, the biggest complaint I have isn't with construction but how poorly designed the bag is.
Water bottle pockets - I don't carry much but often have to force my water bottle to fit in the side pouch. The interior wall of the main compartment doesn't keep contents sufficiently separated.
Second half zip compartment - The thin fabric divider often gets in the way when trying to place something in this area. I don't use it much for this reason.
Smallest front zipper pocket - A nice size but because this pocket wasn't sewn onto the front panel it hangs freely and can easily get pulled into the fabric divider of the second compartment.
Overall the bag is fine but if you're looking to utilize the space efficiently be prepared for it to dictate what you can store. I'd only recommend this for casual students carrying flat rectangular objects. Nothing else.

My high schooler really likes the look and feel of this bag. However we are disappointed with the quality. We originally purchased this bag a year ago. We are now on our third one. The fists two each started ripping. The straps started to rip away from the bag. We've brought the bags back to the store and been given replacements without any issues, but this is an inconvenience and not what I'd expect from LLBean. We'd like to love this bag, but disappointed as it doesn't seem to be made with the quality we hoped for.

I loved this bag for my middle schooler. It has a laptop sleeve, plenty of room for binders and folders, multiple deep pockets and great colors.
She used it for EIGHT school days and the strap started to tear. I'm so sad. Our previous LL Bean bags have lasted years and this didn't even make it through two weeks of 6th grade. I was hoping for something sturdier, especially for $90. Really disappointed.

We purchased this bag for my middle-school aged child this fall. Over the past three months, the top handle and both shoulder straps have frayed/come completely off the bag. The bag itself is still in good shape, but without the straps, is rendered pointless.
Called LLBean and they have offered to have their quality team look at it and credit me if determined to be a quality issue. While this particular bag was a bust, their customer service remains TOPS!!!

We have Quad Packs from years ago from LL Bean, which are top quality and very well made. One has material fraying from being caught in the zipper, so I thought I'd replace it with this. The quality difference is astounding. The material is thin and cheap feeling. The grab handle at the top is super cheap and flimsy. The small top pocket is no longer fleece lined. It didn't seem like it would last. What has happened with LL Bean backpack quality?? It was cute, but that's about it. But then...I opened the Navy pack and was greeted by the most shocking awful bright blue lining all on the inside. It does NOT match the nice green/aqua/mint blue of the outside cord. It managed to clash with both the navy outside AND the light blue cording. It was an awful, bright, clashing blue. The picture here makes it look better than it does in real life. Like they got remnant fabric on sale and decided to go with it or something. Unfortunately, there were no pictures of the inside lining online so no one would expect this. It was an ugly color. Why not just match it to the cord or go with gray inside? For both the quality and lining color reasons, this pack was returned and I went with a different brand and am much happier with my choice.

I purchased this backpack 1 month ago and already one of the straps is beginning to fray/tear at the edge where it attaches to the top back of the pack. I know this is a high stress point for backpacks but considering I consciously don't overload the bag and have been using it for less than a month, I would have expected it to be more durable. Very disappointing.

I just ordered the Medium Blue laptop Pack for my daughter. She was excited about the blue, with light pink accents. When we opened the delivery, we were disappointed to see a blue backpack with cream accents. I read the description of my order to ensure I didn't make a mistake and realized that there is no print information about the color of the accent. After speaking with customer service, I have learned that the picture is simply not clear. Now we have very little time to rethink.

I want to like this back pack and maybe I will eventually. I will try to adapt to new ways of storing things and see if that helps. Note. 1) that top cute cute compartment, really can't hold much weight because it immediately flops over and becomes top heavy. 2) the first compartment - nice organizing pockets - except that zipper pocket only goes down a few inches on each side. So now I am reaching deep inside the space to get inside the organizing pockets. Probably won't use them. Zipper doesn't open wide enough. 3) the holder for the pens and pencils - only the tiny smallest, skinniest of pens will fit in these three pockets 4) The bungee cord on the outside stretches almost full enough for a full backpack, then I am fighting it to keep my pack open. The information is all here on the website, but I chose something that did not fit my needs.

I ended up returning this pack because the water bottle pockets are not large enough to hold a Nalgene or 40oz Hydro Flask. If I really took my time and jammed the bottle in it would eventually fit but I want a pack that I can easily grab a bottle from.

I loved everything about this backpack: perfect size, perfect color, comfortable. But it started fraying at the top of the straps after only a couple of months of carrying a laptop, cords, headphones, tablet and some assorted odds and ends. It went from my house to the car to the office and back so no hard use. This was the second backpack I've had to return for the same issue. I have an almost 20 year old LL Bean backpack that has held up and still looks great, so I guess I'll stick with it.

I got this in the Mineral Blue/Dark Lagoon and it looks NOTHING like the photos. It's much, much darker and a mossy green. I'm definitely sending it back and it makes me sick that I'll have to pay return postage on something that looks entirely different than what I intended to purchase.
