This design is definitely made for wide feet. Even buckling the sandal on its last hole leaves tons of room between the leather and the top of my foot; what's more, the toe piece then pulls to the side, bends.

These were very uncomfortable and way more narrow than I expected. I wear a normal to wide width and my foot didn't fit in the sides. I also found that the ridge under my toes was incredibly uncomfortable. Not even close to a wearable shoe.

I have owned this exact style, purchasing a new pair every other year, since 2005. This is the FIRST time I have ever gotten a horrible blister from the painful rub between my toes. The brand had to have changed manufacturers or something. And I’m so sad…

I ordered the narrow; however, the shoes was far from being narrow.

Absolutely loved these flip flops. So comfortable and forms well to my foot. Only complaint is after wearing them for two days the piece between the toe came off. So angry!!!

These are narrow in the sole but not narrow enough in the strap/buckle

I purchased these Birkenstocks two years ago. The cork footbed is cracked on both shoes. This week the sole detached 2/3 of the way on one shoe and 1/4 on the other. I’m disappointed in what I considered a reliable brand.

I was really looking forward to these as a more stylish alternative to my Arizonas. The leather color was great, but the sizing was way off. While the 39s fit perfectly in the Arizona style, I had more than a finger-and-a-half of excess length in these. They flopped around on my feet like boats, and the thong rubbed the bones of my toes in a really painful way. I'm on the fence about trying a smaller size, given how uncomfortable the thong was. In any case, I recommend going at least one size down.

I don't understand why this is too wide. I have ordered the exact same shoe previously and it fit fine. Something went wrong with this one....way too wide, even tho its marked narrow.

Was so excited about my first pair of Birkenstock. I have worn them several times but the thong causes pain. I can't tolerate the thong. So disappointed!

Disappointed - I have these in black and love them, despite the cracks they developed in the cork at the balls of my feet. These new ones started squeaking horribly after about 3 weeks of wearing them, and they are driving me crazy. I feel like I wasted a bunch of money... boo.

Didn't fit well. Space between top of my foot and the sandle straps was too much for them to stay secure. The thong material was too hard for me as well and I tried them around the house for several days.

These are not comfortable at all. These are a M width and my foot is a M width but this sandal fits like a Narrow. It felt like it was squeezing the sides of my feet with the edges of the footbeds. Also, they seem a little long for a 9-9.5 range. I only wore them around the house for 2 mins and decided to return them. Weird fit for sure! Do not recommend

Hard plastic thong is stiff and unbearably uncomfortable. Maybe I just have sensitive toes?

I didn't like the plastic between the toes--that felt like it would continue to hurt

First time for trying Birkenstock's. The design was fine but the thong was painful. I simply cannot wear them.

I've had a pair of these for ten years. They fit perfectly. They finally wore out so I bought a replacement pair, same size, 39. They are absolutely too big. I'm disappointed that they changed the size. I may be wrong - can't walk around in them to tell as I'm returning them - but they also don't seem quite as... substantial. I've heard people suggest that, since these have become so popular, production quality may have gone down. I suspect this is so. Such a bummer. I used to love these.

I've had a pair of these for about 10 years. They finally really fell apart so I purchased the exact same pair. They're the same size - 39 - but the new pair is too big. They're about a half inch longer and wider. I really can't wear them. I'm so disappointed. I'm worried the 38 will be too small. Just unsure why the size was changed. Hello, Birkenstock?

Fit well. Material was good. But the front part of the shoe dug into the part between my first 2 toes and made it uncomfortable even after 4 days of wearing so I returned it

Wanted these to work because they look so cute-but although I’m used to wearing flip flops, the toe strap was painful even just in the trying-on phase. I don’t have the patience to break in something that already hurts so they’re going back. If you can tolerate the toe strap, I’m sure these would be very comfortable.

Unfortunately didn't work for me. The sole was very stiff. I walked around the house trying to get used to them but it just didn't feel right for me and I returned them.

Terrible. The thong is uncomfortable and the quality is just not the same as Burma use to be. Cute but returned.

Everyone says these shoes are the most comfortable shoe ever. Well for me there the most uncomfortable shoe i have ever put on. I don't get it!!

Yet again, something that backs up the claim that "they don't make them like they used to." The buckles are made of lightweight plastic as opposed to metal. Not what I expected from Birkenstock nor what I expect of any shoe that costs over $100. Cheap garbage. It wasn't that long ago that I got a pair that was made with a metal buckle. Maybe it's Zappos. Returning and will try ordering directly from Birkenstock.
