I happen to have an original '96 Nuptse. Red and black. The red is a nice deep color, no fade and the jacket still is as good as the day I bought it. My only regret is that living in Salt Lake City area, it doesn't get cold enough to wear it unless I go up to Park City or some other mountains. Otherwise I really like having a jacket that will be good for the most extreme days I will probably ever see. One note, I was watching a documentary about climbing Everest. At the base camp a lot of people wear the Nuptse. Of course you wouldn't summit with it, but for base camp it seems to be very popular. Some say it's heavy. Not compared to the navy P Coat I used to wear. I think it's just fine and very comfortable. The only thing that doesn't really cut it is the thin nylon hood hidden in the collar. An insulated removable hood would be kind of nice, but just wear your own cap if needed which it usually will be if it's cold enough to wear the Nuptse.
Leave the hood wrapped up in the collar and zip it up around your neck.

The North Face 1996 Retro Nuptse Jacket is an iconic winter essential, offering unparalleled warmth and style. Having recently found it at an incredible "steal of a deal" price, I can attest to its legendary status and exceptional value.
Material Quality: Built to Last
Constructed from durable ripstop fabric with a DWR finish, the Nuptse's shell is robust and resilient, designed to withstand daily wear and light precipitation. Its quality ensures longevity, making it a reliable investment.
Puffiness: The Signature Silhouette
The jacket's distinctive puffiness comes from its high-loft 700-fill goose down insulation. This creates a plush, cloud-like feel, while the baffle construction keeps the down evenly distributed for consistent warmth and shape.
Warmth: Conquer the Cold
The 700-fill goose down is a powerhouse for warmth, effectively trapping body heat in seriously cold conditions. Features like the stand-up collar and adjustable cuffs further seal in warmth, making it ideal for freezing temperatures.
Price: A Steal of a Deal
While typically a premium item, securing this jacket at a significant discount made it an undeniable "steal." The value for its quality, warmth, and timeless style at a reduced price was unmatched, highlighting its worth as an investment even at full price.
Why the Nuptse is the Best Jacket to Buy
The 1996 Retro Nuptse is a top choice for several reasons:
* Iconic Style: Its classic, boxy design is a recognized fashion staple, perfect for both outdoor and urban settings.
* Exceptional Warmth: 700-fill down provides superior warmth without excessive bulk.
* Durability: High-quality construction ensures years of reliable use.
* Versatility: Suitable for various cold-weather activities.
* Packability: Can be easily packed into its own pocket for convenience.
* Trusted Heritage: Backed by The North Face's reputation for quality outdoor gear.
In essence, the 1996 Retro Nuptse Jacket is a cultural icon and a practical essential. Its superior materials, impressive puffiness, and outstanding warmth make it a top-tier performer, especially when acquired at a great price, making it the ultimate winter wardrobe addition.

Its an ideal prodcut for use on cold and windy days, wheter for casual wear or mountain activities. The greatest thing is that provides excellent warmth without overheating, just perfect. The bad thing its that require especial care at the time of the washing due to the down filing.

The 1996 Retro Nuptse is an exceptional jacket, offering warmth, softness, and a lightweight feel
that makes it almost unnoticeable when worn. The fabric is both soft and highly durable, ensuring
long-lasting use. The sizing is accurate and true to size, providing a comfortable fit with enough
room for layering underneath. Its puffiness adds to its appeal, delivering both style and
functionality. It is an ideal choice for anyone seeking a reliable puffer jacket to withstand the harsh
conditions of Canadian winters

Warm. Will be great to wear when the temperature drops. Not very long, but shouldn't be an issue.

Puffer jacket really nice and comfortable. Although I'm usually a size small and had to get a medium. If your a type of person who doesn't like exact fit, I highly recommend getting one size bigger.
