The shoe is fantastic in terms of comfort, foot protection and lives up to its reputation of being a hybrid trail/hiking shoe, having used them for both. Very unfortunately after less than 340km in them, the upper mesh of the toe box is already showing excessive signs of wear and two holes are forming. At a price tag of 175 and with the remainder of the shoe : sole, heel, etc in close to perfect condition, it is very disappointing. I hope the next version is more durable !

I'm a big Topo fan for hiking and trail running. I've done a few hikes this year in these and I just don't like them. I usually use Mountain Racers and will definitely be going back. These feel to narrow causing me to roll over the side.

I am a physical therapist who often recommends shoes to patients. The topo shoe I reviewed feels well built with a wide toe box. Why would you make the mid foot and hind foot so narrow on a wide toe box shoe. The navicular bone is floating as a result of the reduction in sole material under the medial longitudinal arch.

Purchased the traverse while in Seattle in December - love the fit and roomy toe box. Purchased to replace worn out vasques which wore out in the toe box. These are comfortable and feel great but the inside heel wear will assuredly further deteriorate and I'll be looking for another walking / hiking shoe. NOt sure I would purchase these again, despite the fact, I love the fit. Will continue to wear these until they cause pain or blisters.....it's a shame they look almost new except for the inside heel.

Got the Teaverse and was shocked how narrow in the toe box they were. Painfully crammed my toes together. Sent back for a wide version which I have never had in a shoe. Been wearing Hoka and Altra and thought I'd give these a try.
We'll see...

I have a pair of the Topo Traverse which I think could be a great hiking shoe. Unfortunately the heel is very stiff and the inner fabric and foam in the heel have worn through with less than 100 miles on the shoes. The wear in the heal results in blisters and makes the shoe unusable.
I contacted Topo and they sent this response: "...wear in the heel cup can sometimes be attributed to the user not getting a good heel lock while wearing the shoes. If an adequate heel lock is not achieved, the user may or may not feel their heel and midfoot moving around in the shoe during walks/runs, but the movement can cause premature wear in the heel cup and the collar. We would recommend utilizing a different lacing technique such as a runner's loop to help lock your heel in better to prevent the abrasion from occurring." The problem is the shoe, not how I am lacing them.

I love my Topos. Unfortunately, the Ultraventure was the only trail model made in my size (men's 7W). It fits SO WELL that I've been begging for other models to be offered in wide widths. This Traverse came out in wide and I was thrilled until I saw it's only going to be offered down to size 8. I'm so disappointed! The Terraventure is reported to be the next trail model offered in Wide - I hope it is offered down to size 7. If so, I may just buy ten pairs!!

I have various other Tope models all of which I love.
I bought the Traverse for a thru hike but they are very narrow so I returned them . Completely different from other Topo shoes which have a nice roomy wide toe box.
Topo really need to offer a wide option on these shoes as standard size is a narrow shoe

Shoes purchased for backpacking while carrying approximately 25#s. After several months of training day hikes in preparation for a thru-hike, the sole has started to show signs of delamination. After reviewing my Garmin log, the mileage wasn't nearly as great as first thought. The takeaway, for me anyway, is that the
Traverse is more suitable for light day hiking, for which I will continue to use them for. I'd recommend them for this activity only.

These shoes are NOT for wider feet. Don't understand why Topo is abandoning the slightly wider foot crowd, but these shoes are NARROW. And currently there are no wide sizes available. I didn't even make it a half mile before my feet were screaming at me and I was limping back to the car. It's a shame because the combination of a 5mm heel drop, a rock plate, quick drying insert, and megagrip sole sounded perfect on paper and I wanted to love these.

Disappointed on how narrow the toe box is on the newest version. Why do you change the number one thing the reason why people buy your shoes? I'm also very disappointed on the glue used on the bottom tread pad. Two different shoes I own quickly separated at the front tip when they got a little wet. I'll probably have to super glue them before I throw them out due to put-on mileage.

Sorry Topo but his is not a well designed thru hiking shoe, the toe box is roomy, the sole is tough, but the shoe has a narrow feel to it compared to other models. Thats not what you want if you are carry a pack walking on varied traill conditions every day. You could easily trun a ankle using these for thru hiking. Now I love topos I have several pair and hike in them all the time. Please bring back the non water proof Trailventure, that was an excellent thru hiking shoe.

I've worn Mtn Racers for years never an issue with blisters or uncomfortable fit - love them! I was really excited about trying the new Traverse, but unfortunately I can't say that I will continue to wear them. they seem to fit different and after wearing them on the trail, within the first 5 miles produced two large blisters on each ankle. I love Topos but these specific ones are just not for me.

I own 4 various models of Topo trail and road shoes. They're the best. The Traverse was a Christmas gift from my wife. This is the first Topo shoe that has been a disappointment. As soon I put it on I knew the heal would slip and lacing would only cause me pain on my upper foot. This is the same problem I've had with every other brand. My foot does not "fit down" into the shoe. It rides too high on the platform in the shoe and there's not enough material to wrap around and secure the foot. (Hope I explained that right) I feel Topo got away from what they do best. Love the outsole! Put this outsole on the Ultraventure. Will have to return these and exchange for a different model.

I’m honestly stunned!!! Zappos actually shipped me a pair of muddy, clearly used shoes, and then couldn’t be bothered to make it right. No apology, no real effort, nothing. What a disappointment. So much for the “legendary” customer service they used to be known for.

Mismatched mold of shoe with Right one wildly more unstable than Left due to uneven casting.

Topo quality has plummeted over the years. I went through about 14 pairs of the Terraventure 2. This was the best shoe ever made. While you could notice the midsole giving out around 300 miles, pushing it to 400 miles was no big deal.
I've owned two pairs of the Traverse. I managed to get 400 miles out of my first pair (but they gave out by 200). My second pair I've thrown in the bin after only 150 miles. Didn't even get one mile per dollar on these things.
For now, I'm back in the Terraventure 4 (which I wasn't crazy about), but if this zip foam trend continues, I may have to abandon Topo as a brand entirely. (I've noticed Topo's own website no longer seems to advertise zip foam as a feature.)

Because they run small I contacted y'all and was supposed to get a return label so I could return them for the next size. I've spoken to
2 people and have yet to get a return label

Junk quality, The right shoe has a small twist causing the sole to be uneven. The right heel position is uncomfortable.I don't understand that other shoes made in China are not that bad, but your shoes are of such poor quality.
The left shoe is good, very comfortable and reliable.
