Primarily for road miles but occasionally other non-paved surfaces. I like the wide toe box alloy the foot to splay naturally. I also like the appearance, weight and ample cushioning the shoe provides.

These were good shoes, just not for me. I have wide feet and bunions, so the Topo shape is great, and I have two other pairs that I love - the Cyclone and Phantom. The Atmos was just a bit too much shoe for me. Comfortable for sure, but the cushion was so plush, I felt off balance while running, especially on turns or uneven ground - even when I wore them on my longer, slower runs. Wish Topo could invent a shoe like the Hoka Mach 6, but with the Topo footbed!

LOVE the last shape and fit. Need to work on the tongue (too short) The Zipfoam is improved but could still be a bit softer with more bounce (had Phantoms - way too firm)

Good for long runs at a slow pace. They are a great balance of squish and firm. Definitely more squish though. The only flaw is the tongue. It needs another half inch and more padding.

I bought a pair of highly aclaimed Saucony Triumph 21 and the Atomos. Did some running on a track and the Atomos was the clear winner. I preferred the .5mm rise versus the 10mm of the Triumph. In addition, the midsoles on the Atomos were mush "springier." The only con on the Atomos was the tonge, which is barely long enough.

I've run 50 miles in the Atmos and have been somewhat enjoying them, using them mostly for easy/recovery runns. I like the breathable upper and the weight of the shoe, which is pretty light for its stack height. As for dislikes, I find it runs a tad narrow in the midfoot (as compared to the Phantom and Ultraventure) and I have experienced a decent amount of heal slippage even with a runners knot which may have to do with the short tongue. Overall, I'd still recommend and look forward to v2

Very well cushioned shoe. I would compare it in some ways to a Hoka Bondi except this feels more stable and balanced. In fact, surprisingly stable for such a thick cushioned sole. The only negative is the short tongue which has been referenced in many reviews and posts. This requires you to have to be aware of how you're knotting the laces. Besides runners this would be an excellent shoe for those who work or spend a lot of time on hard, concrete-like, surfaces. Like Altras, this has a natural foot shape that allows for a very comfortable fit for the forefoot and toes. In Hokas I have to always order a wide (2EE) size to accommodate my feet, but not in Topos. I am extremely impressed with these shoes; if additional colors are introduced and the tongue length improved I would immediately order another pair. I highly recommend these both to runners and walkers like myself.

Fantastic foot shape fit with massive cushioning but stable and balanced feel. I would compare these to Hoka Bondi, as far as cushioning goes. But the Atmos has a more stable feel to them. I feel a little wobbly in my Bondis, but not these. And the natural foot shape meant that I had no need to order a wide version, as I do with my Hokas. The only negative, and only reason I’m not rating them 5 stars, is the tongue is noticeably short compared to every other shoe I have. That requires some care when lacing and knotting these up. For some it could mean that the lacing would bite your ankle when running. I’m strictly a walker and have not had that issue, but I am careful when tying these up. This strikes me as a design defect as I can see no purpose to intentionally making a shorter tongue. This aspect has been mentioned in any number of reviews and comments. Other than that I am extremely pleased with these shoes. Runners should find them to be ideal for longer, harder runs.

I wear the Phantom 3 as Altra passed the torch to Topo by breaking what was working. The Phantom 3 are good shoes. These are more plush and comfortable than the Phantom 3. I really wanted to like these as they were offered in a wide size And a dark color. Unfortunately the tongue is too short, so I ended up with the laces up against my feet. I tried tying the laces in different ways. I finally gave up and sent them back. Why design a new model and make such an obvious flaw?

Long time user of Topo shoes. Have run in Phantom (v 1,2, &3), MTN Racer (v 2 &3) , Specter, & Cyclone v 2. I'd say this is Topo's best/ most complete shoe yet. They have always done excellent uppers, so no change here. Whatever formulation of Zipfoam they're using, it's really really nice in the Atmos. I've always felt Zipfoam/ midsole has been Topo's weak spot. Don't know if it's the quantity of the foam, new formulas, or not using dual densities of it, but it's really nice. I'd agree with other reviews here on this site & in the press that the tongue runs a touch short. Kind of baffled that this wasn't identified during creation & prototyping of the shoe. I'd give the shoe a 4.5 if possible, only issue is the tongue. The shoe is a joy to run in.

I like a bit more cushion since I run a lot of miles.

The shoes are comfortable under foot providing a great cushion for shorter to longer miles. The draw backs are: tongue is too short, heel doesn't provide enough cushion, shoes may be slightly narrow around the arch for some and the shoes are off balance. The shoes started off great and the wider toe box was greatly appreciated! On the 5th wear (about 10 miles of wear time) the heel began to rub causing pain. The balance of the shoes shift more towards the heel leaving the forward momentum harder to turn over. The narrow cut around the arch will be personal preference, personally found it too narrow with too much arch support maybe to compensate for the narrow cut. Adding cushion on the heel, rocker technology, widening the shoes ever so slightly and a longer tongue would be great!!

Really wanted to love this shoe...fit and everything is perfect or so I thought...something was poking my mid to heel area on my left foot about two miles in to every run...it was just too noticeable for me to use. Not sure if that was arch support or maybe the midfoot is just too narrow for me. I'm thinking it's too narrow for my medium to wider foot. Cushion is amazing and the toes had amazing room to splay in my normal size. Almost a home run.

Had high hopes for the atmos and its claims of being a max cushion shoe, sadly it is quite a firm ride. Lots to like, great grip, the upper is awesome in fact everything with the shoe is great but the midsole foam is quite hard, has zero return and is poor on efficiency because of. Got 50k in my pair and each run I get knee pain which I have never had in my other shoes. Would be an incredible shoe if the midsole had more cushion and offered more return. Sadly will now just sit in box

Have had more pairs of Topos than I can count and been pretty happy across the board. This is the first pair where I've gotten blisters on the inside of my foot. Feeling around in the shoe I noticed vertical support fabric running along the inner and outer walls that had completely delaminated in the first 70 miles, causing blisters. Forced to return, fingers crossed this design is updated in the next version.

I'm not sure how to explain what's going on with these. I wanted a pair of these since they came out last year. When I finally splurged on a new pair of shoes for work (I'm a nurse) I moved to these from the Ultraventure 3. The cushioning from the stack didn't do anything for me other than make me feel a bit taller.
These Atmos don't activate my gate in the same way the Ultraventure do either. In those I always feel like I just bound up stairsbut these feel like they made my stance fall apart. It's hard to explainbut my feet/legs/stance falls inward when I am standing still in these. Almost like the weight of my body is too heavy for the arch of these shoes? Like, my knees would lock out and bow inwardif that makes sense.
I have short legs, so the added stack height made adult size chairs more comfortable when I was charting, but I'm pretty sure the lack of support is ultimately what gave me plantar fasciitis this summer. There are other variables: night shift, crocs on my days off, etc, but I've since ran back to the Ultraventures and donated my Atmos.
The other disappointment here is that the pretty outsole faded/rubbed off right quickand that's with these exclusively having been worn indoors.

Nice cushion which is slightly firmer than a Bondi. I needed a good cushion shoe without going overboard and this hit the sweet spot. What I don't like is that I had to add a few millimeters of padding to the heel area of the left shoe due to what I believe is a manufacturing defect. I really should have returned these, but added padding on my own. I run a couple times a week and like the extra toe box room. I normally wear wide, and the wide in this shoe is also a better width than a Bondi for me.

Beware...these shoes are ultra comfy but ridiculously SLIPPERY!!! Almost went down multiple times when I wore them after a rain storm and it was very treacherous on streets and sidewalks. Please put a grippier sole on these otherwise great shoes!!

Great sneaker, excellent support in the arch and heel and light too. But these have one flaw that Topo needs to address. The tongue is a 3/4 to an inch too short. It made it difficult to tie the laces over the tongue and the laces untied during intense runs. I am returning these sneakers for this one reason.

This shoe was advertised as maximum cushion. I own the Magnifly, the Phantom, and now the Atmos. I've listed those in order of stack height and also advertised cushion. I am baffled to report that the Atmos has the least cushion any of the topo shoes I own which is 5 different pairs. The only caveat to mention is that I only have 10 miles on them so far, so they may break in more, but they have not broken in any that I can feel yet. The sizing is spot on. The build quality seems great. I wish the toe box was a little bigger, but they really missed it in the cushion department.

Tongue is short. I get edge blisters where bunions would form, got them on a easy run with this shoe. Took out the insole and the base of the shoe is bowl shaped where the ball of your foot sits, so more pressure is exerted on the outside and inside of my foot, don't know what it's not flat from left to right. Also it isn't as wide from the metatarsal area and cuts back shapely to the arch. Fix the tongue, width, midsole base construction and I'll come back, was enjoyable through gait cycle.

Nice wide toe box to accommodate bunions. My heel kept slipping out of the shoe, even using a "runner's tie." HORRIBLE SQUEAK when walking. I know from experience with other shoes that squeaked like this that it will not go away.

I bought these shoes for work and good not get through my first day of these shoes! After 4 hours these shoes were extremely painful! Way to narrow mid foot, but the toe was good. Do not buy if you like NB!

I've had these for about 6 months now and waited to use them multiple times to give a fair review.
For me they are no good, the lack any rebound and it feels like I'm running in quicksand.
My heart rate is several BPM higher than running in any other shoe that I own and I get blisters without fail.
I love the cyclones which I bought at the same time and they are one of my favorites I've ever owned but I'd pass on this one.
