My second pair of these shoes- great cushion, true to size, good support. Two reasons I gave 4 stars- I wish they offered a bit of a more aggressive lug pattern as a "trail shoe" and I do not understand why all the light color choices. They look dirty, worn, and used after only a few runs.

Cushy shoe but the super thick and wide sole made the shoe unstable for me. I felt like I might fall of rocky trails

I bought these shoes more so for recovery and easy runs. They did not work for me. While they claim to be stable, I found the cushion makes them very unstable feeling. So much so, it contributed to a tendonitis flair in one of my feet after the first 20 miles in them. Much prefer the sky vectin to these shoes.

I really LOVED these shoes. I 100% recommend them to you. I went camping for a whole week in Colorado, I did too many hikes, and never took these shoes off. I was afraid they were going to hurt me, so I took an extra pair. I never got to use the other ones. These shoes are light, and the traction is amazing. I always have to use shoe insoles, but with these shoes I didn't have to.

Super comfortable. I find them to perform best on gravel and not very rocky trails. They are NOT good on sandy rocks (e.g. desert trails) or ice/hard pack snow -- frankly super treacherous on the latter.

I've gone through 3 pairs of the Altamesa 300s. They are my absolute favorite pair of trail running shoes. When I saw the 500s come out, I was hoping they would be nearly the same just with a little extra cushion. While I did really like them, they felt a little stiffer and less springy than the 300s to me. All in all a great shoe though. I will always choose NorthFace when it comes to trail runners. I've tried all the brands and keep coming back.

Is it me or do running shoes run bigger now? I've always worn a size 8, but many running shoes are too big for me. I tried sizing down to 7.5, and tried the narrow width, but either way they are too small. So like many running shoes, these North Face ones are too big for me (width and length). However, if you do not have this issue, perhaps they will fit just fine. They are a really nice shoe and are constructed like the running brands you think of when thinking of a running shoe (e.g. Brooks and Saucony). The color is fun too. Too bad they didn't work, I am going to stick with my size 8 NB Hiero 7's.
I'd also recommend:
Saucony, New Balance, Brooks, Hoka

Very comfortable shoes! I use them for trail running and hiking. The sole is large, slightly unsteady feeling until you get used to the fit! Otherwise a great shoe.

I'm very picky when it comes to shoes and how they feel because my feet are very sensitive and I have a high arch. These shoes feel amazing and I can comfortably wear them at work, to the gym, and on the trail. Highly recommended!

I went through five pairs of these shoes on my Appalachian trail thru hike this year! My favorite trail runners in terms of comfort. My only wish is for a vibram/more durable tread for longer use!

I'm a PE teacher and I wear these shoes to work at least 2-3 days a week. They are great support for walking all day.

I'll admit I bought these because I loved the color and the contrasting pink. They are extremely comfortable and needed no breaking in. So far I have avoided muddy areas because I am not sure how easily they may stain. I'm going to take them on an upcoming trip with a lot of walking . I'm confident they will be perfect.

Surprisingly, these shoes are very comfortable and have good grips on the bottom. The soul is somewhat curved for more of a rocking walk or jog.I would’ve never thought to buy Northface shoes.

these shoes are amazing if you are standing for a long period of time. I have hiked and been on long runs in them and they are one of my favorite shoes to do it in. I have these in two other colors because they are so comfortable. I wish they came out with more colors.
