The fabric of these shorts is just as advertised: lightweight, breathable, comfortable, soft, and compressive. They run small - I usually wear a size small/medium but I got a size large and they fit me well. One of my favorite things about these shorts is that they have three pockets - one on each leg and a hidden pocket on the top in the back. The pockets on the side can fit my cell phone and the one in the back would be perfect for a credit card, keys, etc. I like the length; the 5 inch inseam isnt too short and not too long. They do seem to ride up a little bit but since theyre not super short its not a problem. The only thing I would change about them is the sizing, but otherwise theyre great shorts and I will enjoy wearing them more often.

I am 54 tall and 130 pounds, for most, if not all brands I typically purchase a small. I ordered a small in these and they seem a bit more snug than I normally like. The fabric is comfortable and its really nice that they have the phone pocket on the side (a must for any leggings these days, right?). Theres also a pocket in the back that is handy as well. I might consider getting these again but would probably size up.

Nice little short! The pockets are great and the fabric is really nice. Soft but sturdy. The drawstring is nice to help keep the shorts in place. Love the color.
They are just a touch short for my body type, but do not ride up as much as other running shorts Ive tried that are similar in length. There also were just a bit smaller than other medium shorts I have tried in the past. Once they made it over my hips though, they were comfortable!

These are my new favorite running shorts! They fit great, the length is perfect not too long, but long enough that you do not get that annoying chaffing that can happen on the inner thighs, if they are too short. The waist is also great, love that is it higher waisted and does not fall down while running. The material is soft and I have not seen any pilling with several washings. The pockets are a great bonus, the side pockets are deep enough to not worry about smaller items falling out and the back pocket in the waistline is great for holding keys or ID cards securely.

I got these shorts for my wife, who is a casual runner that is getting back into an exercise routine. She thought these were great. Her favorite feature are the side pockets and the back waist pocket, all great places to stash keys or a credit card when she's out. She did think the side pocket was a little snug to exercise or run with her phone for a long time, but was fine for a short errand. She also liked the material, which felt smooth and comfortable and the right weight.

Brooks Spark 5" shorts are remarkably comfortable when running or walking indoors and outdoors. The inner-thigh panel defines comfort! Paired with the smooth, breathable fabric and modest 5" length, the Spark Short Tight checks all the boxes for everyday wear. There are multiple pockets that provide options for storing keys, phone, or rehydration pouches. The key feature of these is the built-in draw string that prevents it from ever being lost inside the waistband. While I do think these shorts run large, I would love to own more pairs of the Brooks Spark 5" Short Tight!

These are great running shorts. No chafing and the material feels soft and smooth. Love that the elastic band is seamlessly built into the shorts and not a hanging drawstring. Theres a back middle pocket for keys and energy gel if needed. What I absolutely love are the two side pockets that are big enough for a phone and whatever else you may want to pocket. The pockets are form fitting so nothing is moving around while youre running, everything feels secure. Women shorts with big enough pockets for your essentials that are form fitting is like a unicorn in the wild. While running, they do run up a little bit as expected but its not so much where I have to pull them down all the time and it doesnt interfere with movement at all. All in all, great product!

The fit and feel of these shorts are like butter! They are so soft, but very durable. The quality is high. They are very well made. The material is thicker but is still very comfortable and stretchy. I love the length of these shorts the most! They are not long and hanging by my knees, but they also are not super short. They are a very nice midi short that stays in place during training. I wouldn't change anything about these shorts. They feel and look great when I'm running!

Unfortunately these fit super tight on me/too small so I havent worn them too much so far. They feel super quality, though! The color is pretty. I love the length. Fabric is nice and feels really quality!

I have a few pairs of tights in my rotation but these are my new favorites because the material is high quality, the pocket situation is well designed, and the 5" length is perfect. I like having the option of putting my phone in the center back pocket (and knowing it won't fall out because the "turn and lock" design) or one of the two (!) side pockets. The fit is supportive without being constraining. I ordered my usual size small and it was true to size.

Overall I really like the Spark 5" Short Tight. The color is versatile and can easily be paired with practically any of my workout shirts. I love that the waistband is not too tight and is mid-waist which makes for a more flattering fit. I love the length of them but noticed that the thigh area is a little too tight/restrictive for my preference so I wish there was a little more stretch. The shorts seem to stay in place and require minimal adjustments on my part no matter what type of workout I am performing which is a huge plus. I also love how smooth/contouring the material is which helps disguise my flaws. The length of the pockets is ideal for storing keys, my phone, etc. while on the go!

These shorts are amazing! They have just the right amount of support and compression but are still so breathable and comfortable to run in. The 5" length surprised me in the best way possible not too short, not too long, just perfect. I've recently switched over to running tights vs traditional shorts for a group fitness class that incorporates running with weights and rowing (IYKYK) and these are the perfect amount of coverage. The side pockets are a bit snug for larger phones, which is a minor inconvenience, and overall these are perfect. My new go to running attire!

I have a version of these shorts from a couple years ago and like everything else good and perfect in this world, they've changed it and not for the better. First, I ordered the same size which is now a little too big. I kept them anyway for dog walks but they don't have the same locked-in feel for running. Also, the side pockets are now angled back just enough to make getting to my phone a little bit harder. So yeah, overall they went from perfect to good enough to return.

Color very cute but the 5 inch inseam seems to ride up. Waist band is awkward. I miss the method shorts like other reviewers mentioned.

I like the fit of these a lot and the pockets are great for a phone or keys while out for a run. I am noticing that one of the seams is pulling out already after 8 wears or so and that is why I am not giving it a 5.

Rides up, didn't attempt to run in them, walking around the house caused them to hike up dramatically, not a great look. Good material/quality, great color (neon orange)

These are super cute, and I love the fabric, but the legs ride up, which is distracting and uncomfortable during my run.

I really wanted to like these but had to return them because they didn't help my chafing at all. I even made sure to size correctly (170 lbs, 5'7", ordered a L). I loved the fit when just walking around the house but they would ride up as soon as I started running. Additionally, I was disappointed with the quality of the material as I had to cut off multiple strings from the stitching... even before I washed them for the first time. That being said, They were very comfortable and wouldn't ride up with walking/sitting, however, since I paid $60+ for them, I had to return them since they weren't comfortable to run in.

Very well made, comfortable and high quality. I'm returning them because they ride up too high up my legs when I run, to where I feel like I'm running in undies. It's probably because I'm not the ideal body type (medium but curvy thighs) and the just don't work for me.

While I like the material and the fit, the seams started coming apart during the first wear and wash. After the first time I wore these shorts when I took them off I noticed two long strings unraveling from the inside seams. I cut the strings and put them in the wash with the cycle on "gentle". I hung dried them instead of using the dryer as I do will all my sweat-wicking material, but as I was hanging them I noticed two more strings unraveling from the inside seams. I have now worn them three times and washed twice (hang drying each time), and the inside seams continue to unravel. This is not the quality I have come to expect from Brooks, so I am fairly disappointed. The only issue I have is the quality of the seams, and maybe it was just the pair that I received. As I said at the beginning, I do like the material and the fit. The compression is perfect, not too tight as some of my high performance tights are, which I appreciated because it felt like my legs could breathe. The pockets are perfectly designed to keep whatever you're carrying secure.

As many other reviews have stated, these are unfortunately a downgrade from the Method short. The worst offense, in my opinion, is the new material, which is more flexible and thus terribly unflattering. I was disappointed trying these on, and even more disappointed running in them. Highly unfortunate as I run 9/10 my runs in the Method short and they are getting worn, but these are not at all a comparable replacement.

Brooks short tights are my go to shorts for trail runs, marathons, gym sessions, and everyday wear. I bought these to replace my movement and moment style of BROOKS 5 inch shorts. The biggest difference I have noticed is in the pockets and the waistband. In these spark shorts, the pockets are narrower and diagonal making it extremely difficulty to quickly access your phone (as compared to the previous version of shorts where I could whip it out easily in the event I need it for an emergency). In the previous versions I could carry my phone and epi pen in one pocket, in the spark shorts it barely fits my iPhone. I also didn't like the waistband- compared to the previous styles, it is a half inch longer from the top of the waistband to the top of the crotch seam. It fits true to size (5ft, 117lbs, size small) & I love the color- salsa is so cute and while I will keep these, I wish Brooks would bring back the Movement and Moment versions of their short tights.
