Not good for running in barefoot. Rough on bottom of feet.

The Hopara 2s are very well made and comfortable. I did expect them to have a little more cushion. I'm an aquarist I work with aquatic animals all day in salt water. The only thing about the mesh lining is that it holds in the sand and dirt that gets under my feet through the day. They are hard to rinse out other then that very work friendly.

I had a replacement for the high arc in the right shoe and still is the same fit that I will try to get used to.

Should it be nice to come to offline store and try it personally and choose the size based upon tryouts. No offense IT IS GOOD AS ITS PROMISED, true!. You feel like walking barefoot meanwhile your toes are comfortably secured. The 'true to sizes' though real true to size, nothings wrong with it unless you're a man with big calves and small footed (my bad)

We bought two pairs (one for me and one for my wife) for a cruise. I'm a huge fan of HOKA, and these shoes are great with ONE HUGE MUST KNOW: If you wear these in sand, they turn into SAND STORAGE UNITS. The issue is the mesh design vs. the slot/sandal design with NO MESH. They are very hard to clean the sand out of and will hold a METRIC TON of sand (wink). If you're looking for a beach or hiking shoe that works getting wet and you're going to be walking through sand/mud/gravel...keep this in mind. They dry out and hold up great, but that's the major issue we had with them. We used them on our Cruise and the style and comfort is 100% HOKA and we love the shoes other than this one design issue. Using them in water where you won't be sinking into sand/mud they are perfectly fine water shoes, if not exceptional!

I ordered the Hopara 2 and the I did not care for the styling so decided to return them and I have to say the return was seamless with a very prompt refund. I have other Hoka shoes and love the comfort and fit.

I bought these to be a more protective shoe than Teva sandals during Scottsdale, Arizona summers when the temperature is over 110 degrees. So far in 80-degree weather the Hopara 2s seem to be well ventilated and cushioned while providing good protection of my feet. I'm a little concerned that the Velcro heel strap will not last long and I'll have to replace the Velcro too soon. The lacing system has turned out to be far better than I hoped, much better than conventional laces. Only 4 star review because I am not confident in the durability of the Velcro heel strap.

The shoe is tougher than others to get on with the toggle.

Upon receiving the Hopara 2 in the barley/oat milk colorway, I was immediately struck by how much lighter they were in person compared to the images online. It's a significant difference that might not sit well with everyone, especially if you're expecting the darker, richer tones shown in the photos. That said, after the initial surprise, the lighter color began to grow on me. Its design provides a reliable grip and outdoor protection, but the firm heel requires time to break in for comfort. Also, there is a CORDURA fabric tag not shown in online photos (next to the Quick Dry label); I like the tag, but it was not expected. The heel strap can rub uncomfortably, especially without socks, though adjustments might help. I hope after a break-in period that the heel fabric softens over time for better comfort. Despite the initial discomfort from the heel strap, it's pretty comfortable.. Contrary to expectations, the sole isn't overly squishy, striking a good balance between firmness and cushioning, which actually enhances the wearing experience. Its grip is commendable, providing confidence on various surfaces, and the shoe performs exceptionally well in Florida's humid and rainy conditions.

I have always wanted a water shoe for wet trails and crossing streams that do NOT let gravel in, and dry fast when you get out. I was concerned about the heel area with no mesh, and my fears played out. Gravel got in. Otherwise, it is a comfortable, lightweight shoe with good traction. I can do all-day day hikes in it. It completely dried in about an hour on a humid mid-Atlantic day. PLEASE ENCLOSE THE HEEL AREA TO KEEP GRAVEL OUT. I will buy it immediately. Muck and fine sand are ok to get in, pea gravel is not. Still much better than my Keens (or any sandal), which takes days to dry and lets everything in. Also, please make a wide model.

I had to special order these, so I'm bummed to learn that the previous US 10.5 and the current don't exactly match. My toe is hitting a bit too much and I'll probably not wear them much. (I can't be bothered with mail returns, bleh)

I purchased its predecessor years ago. One of the most comfortable sandals I've had. Its successor is less comfortable particularly as to the surface of the sole. It has one plus being easier to put on as there is a heel strap that can be adjusted.

Love the shoes Great colors Great fit Enjoying them down here in Puerto Rico on holiday Unfortunately one side of the "lace" on the left shoe disconnected from its central connector this morning! Leaves the left one looking broken and sad and detracts from the pleasure I got from the shoes. How do I contact your guarantee department?

I've been wearing Hoka Hopara, and before that Tor sandals for 6 years now. For some reason, the ball of these Hopara 2 footbeds was either too firm, or poorly shaped, and I developed metatarsalgia in my right foot, and to a lesser extent in my left foot. My feet feel much better in my old pair of Hoparas. I'm also not a fan of the mesh. Yes, it allows less debris in, but what does get it does not get out as easily. I find myself taking them off and emptying them out much more frequently. The main plus to these is that they seemed to have solved the heelstrap manufacturing defect issue - I went through 6 pairs of Hoparas that all failed on the heel strap long before the rest of the shoe showed much wear.

It's a nice shoe. Appreciate the sturdiness & quality of the materials but please design this shoe to be totally enclosed. That way dirt, sand, small rocks and pebbles do not get in the shoe via the open back. This happened within 10 minutes of my creek hike yesterday & it made the hike uncomfortable. Closing the back like a normal shoe will not impact drainage and it will be a better product

I have several pair of hoka sneakers that are 4E width. I love them. I wish the HOPARA2 was wider. I would give them 5 stars if they were.

Overall, pretty happy with this after only a few weeks. I have a heel/ankle injury and this is providing me with a mostly comfortable option which protects my feet while not rubbing against my heel. I measure 12.5 and am very glad I upsized to a 14, even though the site recommended a 13. Worth noting that sometimes I can feel some of the shoe's structure on the sole of my foot. This has been minimized by tightening up the lacing.

Wanted to love this shoe, only kinda like. Nice blend of cushioning and support with arch support you rarely see in a sandal. Appreciate the adjustable heel strap, does a nice job of locking down the heel. However, the mid- and forefoot are too wide for me. My feet are swimming in this shoe. Length is fine. Bought these for hiking, but definitely too loose for that purpose - I'll stick with my Bedrocks. Hoka needs to make a Medium and Wide version, these are definitely Wide. Will keep these for casual use. They are comfortable and look great.

The Hopara is a super cushiony shoe, and a comfortable fit. I felt sure-footed and supported during a visit to the canyons of New York City!

The best/worst hiking/water shoes ever! Wore the Hopara 2's for a week, walking around NYC to test the comfort before my vacation. They were perfect, so i wore them the next week for easy hikes, tubing and swimming, etc. After a few days, the right heel loop immediately started to fray. Then the mesh on the left shoe began to pull apart from the sole. I was shocked at how quickly they fell apart after only 3 weeks of casual use. Then there were the blisters from the right shoe (weird blisters where I've never had blisters before). Had to return them when I got back. Hated to give them up because they were AWESOME shoes! The soles were good and grippy on trails, they protected my feet from rocks, dried quickly, were easy to take on/off, and they had stable support. They were perfect, until they weren't.

These shoes look great, but after wearing them for a week, I am questioning my purchase. My feet hurt after walking in them, and I have had to go back to wearing my walking shoes.
