Was looking for a recovery shoe that was more supportive than a Croc. This shoe has amazing arch support and comfort: but for the price needs a few improvements: First is better ventilation, so more holes in the rubber, especially on the lower sides where the footbed meets the upper (like how Crocs have, it feels airy and amazing keeping feet cool and dry).
I found my feet getting sweaty in these without wearing socks, which defeats the purpose of a fast slip on recovery shoe or house shoe if you have to put socks on.
Second is a back strap for option to keep shoe on foot. If you are walking faster or doing activities around the house, the shoe can come off.
Third: half sizes for a more perfect fit. I found the 8s slightly loose/large and I imagine the 7s would be too small.
With these additions, this shoe could serve many purposes outside recovering at home,
and I can imagine wearing them to work standing and walking all day on your feet if they have the adjustments mentioned above.

The first time I purchased this mule in my normal size, and It was too short and too narrow. So I ordered the next size up and it was too long and wide. Have to return again. Does not come in 1/2 sizes.

I agree with the reviews that the toe box is shallow. I wear compression socks, and my toes felt "squashed" in the mule.

First off , I love the design of the mule. I wanted to love the them, but they aren't as comfortable as the Ora recovery slide 3. These mules lack support & cushion. I still like it, but have issues with it. Such a bummer. I wear the slides every day. Hopefully the next version of the mule is as comfy and the slides.

I have been wearing Crocs for years, but after foot surgeries, I wanted more arch suppoert. These shoes are supportive, but I have to wear socks with them because there are areas inside the shoes that feel pokey and hurt. I would not buy again.

This shoe probably would have been great if they had a wide option but the did not. I am going to have to return these shoes due to them being to tight around my feet.

My husband normally wears an 11.5 so I ordered a 12. It was way to small so I exchanged for a 13. The left shoe fits, but the right is still too short and is rubbing a sore on his heal. I didn't check to see if they come any larger, but even if they do, I'm sure they would be too large at that point. No idea what to do.

Compared to Oofos recovery slide, i didn't find these any comfier than my Crocs. I was hoping to find a clog like slide for work, like my Crocs, but w/ more padding. Oofos don't have a clog type, otherwise I would of bought em. Had to return these.

The ORA Recovers Mule was recovered by my Podiatrist for my Plantar Fasciitis but alas, I have a very high instep and usually wear a wide width so they were just too tight.

My heel sunk down which is not good. My other style in the open toe does not do this so I was disappointed when I got the closed toe style.

These are very unsafe if you need steady support. I've had tennis shoes for couple years. Need a shoe that provides comfort while feet are not subjected to slippage. My feet slip, try to keep tighter in width wearing footie. Developed scab on toes.
Altogether wrong selection . Now must discover your return policy

My physician recommended I try these to relieve knee pain. They seem to have worked, but my pinkie toes on both feet got very irritated from chafing so I had to stop wearing them. I contacted customer service and unfortunately there is no solution other to wear socks, so I will be taking advantage of the Hoka return policy for a refund for the mules. Maybe they can redesign the mold and leave more room for pinkie toes. That said, it was recommended that I try the slides, and those seem to be working better.

These turned out to be just too big - not short, just big around my skinny foot. I would walk right out of them. I put my custom orthotics in which helped but then the top of the shoe cut into the bridge of my foot. Hoka seems to make shoes for people with larger, higher volume feet.

Thought this would be the perfect upgrade from Crocs. I've been happy with my Hoka running/gym shoes, and recently slides. This could have been a contender... My biggest issue is the removeable (but needed) insert. Why does this need to be a separate component? There is no apparent reason to wear without this necessary piece. Yet, it doesn't stay in place. I wore these for less than an hour doing very light yardwork/gardening (like I said, trying to replace Crocs). On the slightest incline or decline the insert would move with my bare feet while the mule itself stayed planted on the ground. The opposite of healthy and protective footwear. I'm giving this 3 stars, rather than one, because the design is cool (again, comparing to Crocs) and I wouldn't be embarrassed around town if I forgot I had these on when leaving the house. I also found them pretty comfortable overall (on flat surfaces). I hope this can be improved and I would consider giving another chance. Also, is it so difficult with all of today's technology and 3D printing to custom fit half sizes, one quarter sizes, or literally any custom size after some smartphone app does a scan against a ruler or something you send? Just some ideas on how it might improve... Hopeful.

I spoke with customer service before ordering this mule. They assured me that it did not have toe grips. Well it does! The shoe is terrific runs a little short but the toe grips hurt. Unfortunately I have to return them

Not as comfortable, stable or cushiony as expected. Sizing is weird and rubs in spots.

Great idea. Sizing is tricky. I found it comfortable to stand on or walk on, but it was a bit tight around the toes. I have slate floors, and the squeaked with each step, which was annoying. I would recommend to a friend if they could buy them in person and make sure the fit worked AND if they have carpeted floors.

These are my 4th pair of Hoka's I have two sneakers, the De Luxe recovery slides (which saved my knees) and I just purchased these. I am somewhat disappointed. They have given me a blister and it isn't as cushy as the other Hokas.

I have Hopara 1 & 2, size 8.5 which fit perfectly. Hopara 1 blew out (rear entry) but Hopara 2 standing strong so far.
I also have the recovery flip flops, size 8 that works well. The recovery Mule, size 8 is tolerable around the homestead but the toe box is not real comfortable, and the inserts have slipped out on occasion which is disconcerting.

I really like these sandals, but since I wear a size 8.5, they are not perfect. I first ordered a size 9, as was mentioned on the site to go up a half size if you wear one. Well, they were waaaay too big and I couldn't even walk. So, I ordered a size 8. They fit, but there is this molded lining in the sandal that is meant for comfort, but being a half size too small the ridges of the lining hit my toes in the wrong place and get uncomfortable. I guess in the end, I'd recommend if you wear whole sizes. Be prepared to return in you wear a half size.
