When I find a shoe that is comfortable I stick with it and I change them every six months or so. Your Rivera 4 has the potential to be such a shoe, but not if the colors choices are not useful to me.

I frequently wear these shoes because they complement most of my outfits, but they aggravate my small bunion. I try not to wear them for long to prevent the bunion from getting bigger.

Overall I love this shoe. I am a PT who was dedicated to Brooks Glycerin, until it changed and became painful. Another PT recommended Altra and I love it. However the laces do not stay tied and the tongue moves around all day! But I'll keep them for comfort!

I am a walker, not a runner. The wide toe box and thick cushioning allow me to stay on my feet a good long time. I have a big foot, size 10, and these shoes preserve my vanity. My feet look somewhat petite!!

The look is great. The bounce/cushion is nice. But it's definitely a half size too small. Really disappointed that the toe bow wasn't wider. I have narrow feet and these felt snug.

I really like this brand for the support and comfort, however the toe scuffed and came apart within the first 2 weeks.

Great shoe! Love it, but it runs at least a half size small. Maybe a whole size when compared to the Olympias which run very large.

My podiatrist recommended Altra due to having neuropathy. I bought these sneakers and instantly loved them. Nice roomy toe box and very comfortable. However, after only 4 months the inside of the top heel portion of the shoes started to wear away. Also have a small hole forming on the outside back of the sneakers. I notified the company and was told it was not covered by the warranty because they claimed this was caused by me by not tying them tight enough thus causing my heels to slip. This is not true, my heels never slipped. I have never experienced this in any other sneakers I have worn. They did give me a store credit as a curtesy. I will buy another pair with the credit but if this happens again I will no longer buy this brand.

I started wearing these 3 months ago for daily walk/jogs. The fit is great and I love the feel. The problem is that they are falling apart already and need to be replaced. I expected better quality.

I don't know what changed! I loved my last pair. This pair is narrower in the toe box even though I ordered wide. Also the tongue is narrow and shows my socks on either side. So sad.

I do not have wide feet, but I have PF and am moving to minimalist. However, I still found these shoes very narrow! The side of my feet were pushing out, and even though I wear a 7.5, the 8 were too small! Lack of consistent sizing is so frustrating. I really wanted to like these, and now I don't know if I should try the 8.5 or look for a different shoe. So far, return process has been easy, thankfully, as it seems this may be a repeated process.

I had a pair of Rivera 2 shoes that I loved. They fit like a glove and are super flexible and comfortable. I usually wear a 7 wide, and the 8 fit perfect. I purchased the Rivera 4 in a size 8 and could not even walk around in my house with them they were so tight on my foot. I did not have a Rivera 3, but the Rivera 4 is much more narrow than the 2 and I will have to return and try a different shoe model as there is no wide option in this shoe.
The shoe looks really nice and it is still pretty light weight. The newer 4 model is a little more structured and not as flexible as the 2. I'm sure it would be a nice shoe for someone that does not have wider feet. The shoe just does not seem to meet what I am used to getting with the Altras and the advertised wider toe box.

I probably should have returned these shoes but the problems weren't apparent immediately. Basically the shoes feel small in the length (especially the left shoe curiously) and they didn't have the same width as a similar pair I bought a few years ago. I have a neuroma and my podiatrist recommended this brand due to extra width. Maybe if I bought a half size up?

Sadly, I returned the shoes. I am hesitant to reorder as the sizing is confusing to me.

The fabric did not hold up. Started to tear soon after purchase. I am willing to pay a premium for quality shoes but I expect quality.

The fit is great for a wide foot, feels great for softer surfaces but for long distance on hard surfaces (sidewalk/road) they do not have enough support or cushion.

I purchased Rivera4s and immediately started having SEVERE back pain. I have worn Rivera 3's in the past and they are no longer available. Customer service was not helpful about my issues.

I sized up one size due to the reviews. The fit is perfect. I bought them for walking, but I am wearing them all day because they are so comfortable. I am ordering a second pair!

I love the Rivera3 for daily runs, and this redesign just isnt it. I dont know why you had to mess with a good thing. Am not on the hunt to find a new shoe.

RIVERIA 3 was great!! But the 4 is like an entirely different shoe. Altra why are you changing to lesser quality??? It is so apparent reading several reviews. This shoe feels cheap. Padding thinner, cuts into my ankle, tongue different and wont stay in place. I would return if I could. Went back to wearing my 3s. Other people at the gym report the same. Also loved the Solstice XT 2 but the XT 3 terrible. Disappointing Altra.

I ordered a half size larger in this shoe and it was still almost too short and extremely narrow. The toe box was not roomy at all, and the sides of the shoe were so narrow that my foot was wider than the sole and actually hung over the edges on both sides! I require a roomy toebox, but my feet in general are not very with so this is ridiculous especially for Altra. I thought ultra was supposed to be the shoe recommended by podiatrists and running experts but I think as of late the shoe has gotten narrower and has just lost quality in general from other reviews I have read. I returned the shoe today and I will not be purchasing other Altra shoes in the future.

The eyelets for putting in shoelaces are RIDICULOUS!!!! I had to cut the laces to remove them.
Then to re-lace w/the laces I wanted, I had to CRUSH the little plastic leader with pliers and then use the pliers to push and pull the lace through each eyelet. It took 30 minutes PER SHOE.
I love the way these shoes fit, but I will NEVER again put myself through the stupidity of trying to use shoes like this.

So happy to see altra making a neutral color trainer however the mesh material is really thin, my bright pink socks "glowed" through the shoe. Felt smaller than my usual altras and I'm returning.
