I like that the shoes are narrow through the center. Really supports the arch of my feet. I'm a nurse and standing or walking all day and once these are settled to your feet, they're awesome!

Feels great. Nice upgrade from the previous version. Just needs more color ways.

Please just add at classic black & white combo & an all white or an un dyed version to every release or atleast to the Torin line

Physical Therapist recommended Altras for my return to running post knee surgery. The wider toe box is helping my foot strike by spreading my toes and feeling my foot-strike, reducing pronation, strengthening my ankles, and reducing the pressure on my knees. I'm now running 25 miles per week with no pain and I have significant bone on bone. My pace is easy (aka slow - 9 min miles) but I'm enjoying running without pain again, which is all I can ask for.

These are great shoes for regular walking (3-5 miles/day) and have helped tremendously with an over pronation problem. The one drawback is the interior vertical seam at the heal. When this lets go, the shoe goes in the trash. For me, this occurs close to the end of life of the sole but they could otherwise still be used for yard work etc. Instant blister when it happens.

Great shoe, favorite in the lineup for road running. Rubber sole wears too quickly, wish Altra could beef up durability.

I wear more for walking than running. I need the wide toe box and these are the best fit I can find. Only complaint I have is the color they call "White/Blue" is not accurate. The liner is blue but the exterior has a definite green gray color, not blue to my eye.

Wish they had more cushion in the toe bed.

The tread on these aren't holding up. This is my 3rd pair, and I used to be able to get ~400miles. Had to retire these at 200

I've been wearing Altra shoes for a decade & currently rotate between 8 pairs. While I keep buying I wish they would go back to the OG concepts and colors. These are at best ok.

Compared the Altra Provision with the Altra Paradigm. Paradigm did not fit well, so were returned. Gave the Provision a try. At first they felt ok, but the longer I wore them, they became less and less comfortable. I don't think I'm a fan of their zero drop. The Provision will be returned, too. While the design may work for some feet, they didn't work for mine.
I'd also recommend:

While I like these shoes and have been using the Provision's for many years, the newest version really doesn't hold up well and wore out extremely quickly compared to previous versions.
Very disappointed.

They apparently do not make the Provision in WIDE width (I called Altra to try and find them because I have had two in the Provision 7 and loved them; of course they were off "Amazin"). The lady suggested I order men's adjusted for my size for the width I need. They were way too narrow; my feet started going numb immediately! I have read so many reviews like this- for a shoe company that is all about the roomy toe box, this just doesn't make sense!! PLEASE make your shoes wider, and offer WIDE width in more styles!

Wide toe box and narrow mid foot makes no sense. Cushioning is non existent. I don't run but if I did it wouldn't be in these.

I wear a size 9 women’s in Altra Olympus 2 and love them, but these are a half to full size too big. What I disliked the most is the faint dirt smudge on the side and the dog hairs inside the shoe. Guess they were an Amazon return, since they came in an Amazon box?

This is my 3rd pair of provisions. The tread on the 8's seems to have worn out quick, less than 100 miles on them. Fit and comfort is amazing, but need better tread.

These are my 11th pair of altras. I loved the Torin 4, they then made radical changes. I bounced around then landed on the Rivers. But the third edition was different from earlier versions and made the switch to the provision. Loved the 6th and the 7th was better. I couldn't wait to try the 8th when I needed a new pair. I have worn them now for over a month and I am started to have the some of the same issues that I had with the Rivers 3. My toes hurt after a run.
I also noted a change to the heel fit. This is the first time I had the issue of my heel lifting out of the shoe. I locked my laces which helped but the feel of the shoe is not the same. I never had this issue in 25 years of running. I went back to the provision 7 and waiting for the 9 to see if it is fixed. If not, I am going back to Asics. It is a shame because I love the zero drop and foot shape shoes. Why do they mess with what works?

Been an Altra wearer for a decade but this is the second time I've had shoes that were off their usual sizing by about a half a size. Disappointing.

I returned the shoes on 12/8 and still did not get a refund. The shoes are absolutely massive and do not fit true to the size. That was the second pair I bought and had to return.

I can only get 100 miles out of these shoes before the foam completely loses structure and no longer supports my foot. This is compared to 300-400 miles I could get out of the Provision 7's before the shank / rails would stop providing support. I've owned and worn through three sets of both shoes and run 30-40 miles per week on mostly concrete surfaces.
The pros are the 8's have a roomier toe box and, fresh out of the box, they feel pretty stable. They have great colors of course.
The cons are they're much heavier than the 7's, have a higher stack height provided by low quality foam, and the heel support is less natural than the 7's (it feels like you're running in clogs versus a more natural heel cup in the 7's). Additionally, the tread on the 8's is like ice skating compared to the 7's. The 7's have a unique tread with an amazing grip that lasts for forever compared to your vanilla running shoe. Not sure how to explain it, would recommend looking it up. The short of it is the tread would stick to absolutely anything and each individual tread block was redundant so wear was minimized. I never wore the 7's down to where I was running on foam, even after over 400 miles on a pair. The 8's, however, are a vanilla tread style and rubber doesn't even cover the whole bottom of the shoe. The tread has no native grip characteristics and wears out at the same rate as the foam (after ~100 miles the rubber no longer had grooves). I would wear my 7's on gravel and trail runs, confident they'd provide grip and support, but my 8's would sooner see the trash can than anything other than pavement.
I actively don't recommend these to friends, a complete 180 from recommending the 7's to anyone who would listen. Hoping Altra fixes these issues in the 9's.
