Getting on and off is a little difficult had to put shoe stretchers in shoes before I could wear them.

I like them once I get them on but maybe I have to high of an instep, I struggle to get them on without a shoe spoon. I have had to cut the opening so I could stop breaking the shoe spoon. They are very comfortable and light to wear.

Love the sleek/narrower look. Sole tread was great on all surfaces from brick, grass, asphalt, concrete, tile, etc. Pretty stiff midsole which I prefer but as my only shoe on the trip my feet started to hurt on day 10-11. Could use a pinch more cushion in the midsole.

They are small! Boyfriend is always a 12 in Merrell and they are too small for him. Pretty sure it's because of the laces.

Really wish I could return these. The materials are great but the fit is bad, I trip over myself on hikes which is dangerous, and I got blisters on my toes after the first few uses.

I'll cut to the chase: -They feel a bit cheaper in hand than they appear in photos - The materials overall just aren't that nice. -The tongue isn't separate - instead you slip them on and there's stretchy neoprene around the opening which I don't care for. -They fit about a half size small compared to other Merrells I have.

I've been wearing Merrells for years, and it's easy: size 12, M width works every time. Every time but this one. It was way too tight, and, Dear Reader, please skim through the reviews where we're telling y'all that there's no tongue. It's such a weird thing to change. I wear Jungle Mocs all the time; I think I've worn out 3 pair over the years. They're pull-on, but they have some elastic to make that possible. These are not elastic, no tongue, and just uncomfortably tight immediately. I have a high arch and wide forefoot, but normally Merrell handles that anatomy with aplomb. They do look fresh, though.

THESE ARE SLIP-ONS. Yes, they have laces, but the tongue is attached on the sides like a slip-on, with the associated narrow opening/fit. These aren't going to wear like a "normal" laced shoe will. -- This should be made clearer in the product description.

Had to return-the toungue is sewed to the insides of the shoe all the way to the rear. Leaves very little room to insert foot and get into the shoe. I need a sneaker where the younger is free and loose for entry then laces up.

Unfortunately these shoes are a major step down from the original alpine sneakers. Not sure why they needed to try and fix some thing that was not broken, but these shoes do not hit the mark. There is no tongue, instead there's a stretchy cuff around the ankle. It is oddly tight, and uncomfortable. It cannot be adjusted to fit people with different angles. The toebox has a breathable mesh on top, which is nice, but right behind that as you go up the foot there is a hard line where the suede kicks in, and this cuts into the toes immediately. I'm so disappointed that they have gotten rid of the Alpine sneakers. I own 12 pairs and they were absolutely my favorite shoe ever. You guys just needed to make more new colors, you did not need to redesign the shoe.

You had a perfect shoe and could not leave well enough alone. My previous Alpine was great, this one has a totally different build and it is far inferior. Now the old ones are no longer available. I already have to buy men's because you don't make enough women's styles in wide. Please stop adding style after style when you already are meeting a need. It is wasteful and decreases your customer loyalty.

Looks great, but impossible to put on comfortably and quickly. Opening is too rigid. Maybe it would be fine once broken-in, but who wants to risk that it won't and then be out the moeny for shoess you can't wear.

This shoe is horribly designed. There is no real tongue, so the opening to get your foot inside the shoe is really tight. I will be returning this for another item.

Fit is horrible. Tongue is fixed and shoes stretch over your feet. Poor design, not a clever design.

The tongue is sewn in and fixed. Shoe is designed around a stretch material concept which is a horrible idea. It is very difficult to put these shoes on and I am not overweight.

I wore these twice to coach my son's lacrosse team and the suede on the toe ripped. Just walking around grass. Disappointed as I've always been happy with other Merrells.

I enjoyed the shoe for walking and kicking it around town but after 4 months they began to tear. There are holes in the suede on each side of your instep which started to tear. I didn't wear them everyday either so I would have to say the durability of the shoe is poor. I really liked the look and comfort of the shoe so I am pretty disappointed they didn't last longer.

I returned them. The inner "surf sock" type liner was a giant pain to get on. These felt nothing like the four other pairs of Alpines I've owned.
