We took these to the remote parts of Alaska in the Katmai National Park to watch bears during the salmon run. We also went to the Valley of Ten Thousand Smokes to view the old volcano eruption. Ultimately the boots did the trick, but ended up rubbing on the edges of my toes. I've worn size 14 for years, but this must be cut smaller. It eventually made for an unpleasant trip by day 3, but we will try the next size up.

Great Boots! Actually waterproof and comfortable. They were comfortable the whole time, they broke in nicely as well. Lots of support for your foot and did not get blisters like I did with my Keens.

Own 2 other pairs of Merrell boots and Merrell's are an easily broke in boot/shoe, put about 50 miles on them before climbing Pikes Peak. Feet felt great and the stability and comfort were more than I anticipated for a newly broke in boot. Testament to the quality and comfort that is Merrell.
Would/will buy again when that time arrives.

I needed a new pair of boots, and I had compared the wear on older pairs. The Vibram soles were holding up so much better than their counterpart, that this was an easy decision for me. These fit well, are comfortable on long hikes. I really appreciate these boots for no matter what my situation is, I know they will handle it well. They keep my feet dry in the wettest conditions.

When I first tried to wear Merrell hikers, they put my ankle at some kind of weird angle, and I couldn't stand the feeling of my leg being twisted. I didn't try them again for five years, and now either my ankle is more limber or the hikers are more flexible, but I can wear these pretty much anywhere. Akron has an extensive metro-park system, and the trails go through a variety of terrain. My Merrells get me through all of it without any problems. Not what I would have said five years ago. These are good.

Worn on a trip around the Ring Road in Iceland. Worked very well in combination with waterproof pants and coats during some rainy treks around the country.

These are my boots after only three months, which is a little over 1000 miles on the Appalachian Trail. The missing toe section happened on the talus fields in the Shenandoah National Park. The rips on the right shoe finally happened after walking the rocky ridges of the Priest at night. Those tears on the left shoe are from Dragons Tooth. The burn marks are from the Smokies, when i had to walk for 3 miles in a trail that had turned into a stream and a cold snap froze my shoes solid. I put them by a fire to dry out - too close. The scuffs could be from all the summits in NC, like Mt. Albert in the rain. These boots have lived hard and while they might need to retire, if I do summit Katahdin, itll be in pair of Merrills.

We averaged 15+ miles a day in Zion and Bryce parks. In my group I was the only one who didnt get blisters! They are very comfortable out of the box. The grip on rock and all surfaces is fantastic. I was able to walk right on top of slanted rocks no problem.

This is an incredible pair of hiking boots. I owned a pair of Merrell's for the past 4 years--the "mqm flex 2 mid gtx". They held up really well, but I didn't think they were rugged enough. The material was kind of thin, so I would often stub my tow and feel much of what I would step on. I wanted to upgrade to something more rugged, but still lightweight, and not as big as some of the other boots out there. This hiking boot fit the bill. It has so far withstood 8 4000 footer White Mountain hikes in NH, as well as numerous others. It grips rocks like no other; it is lightweight so you can glide on the trail; they are comfortable; they are extremely water resistant (my feet stayed dry through numerous river crossings and rain showers); you don't feel much underneath the feet; and there is a protective guard on the front so you don't stub your tows. This list isn't exhaustive, but should show you that these are a very versatile set of hiking boots. I would highly recommend.

I am a landscape architect and I traverse the hills around Austin Texas. I have been relying on these Merrell for over twenty years. Please don't stop making these shoes. I tried your synthetic version of the Moab and it stretched too quickly and didn't hold up as well as the original leather version. I buy about four pairs every year.

Poor SupportGreat Support
My overall impression of these boots is very positive. I bought the men's size 7.5 Wide, and I found them true to size. The insert is pretty thin, and it doesn't provide much arch support. However, that was ok for me because I use custom orthotics. My orthotics fit very well in these boots. The sole is also pretty thin. It doesn have much cushion, so I felt the rocks and roots as I hiked through the woods. I'm not an experienced hiker, so I don't know if it's desirable to feel so much of the trail. I'd prefer a little more cushion between me and the ground. However, I still like the boots, and I'd buy them again. They are lightweight and comfortable.

They shipped me a different item that is not even related to this product. When questioning the support team I was informed the boot was out of stock so they decided to send a random shoe in it's place. Why not just cancel the order and say out of stock?

Been wearing MOABs for years. These MOAB 3s run big. I usually wear a 9.5 but when I received them and tried them on, they felt like 10s. I had to order a 9 and now they fit perfect.

I have been using this style for year; however, this one is a little bigger than the others for same size. May need to go down a 1/2 size.

Great outdoor shoes. Took these out to some national and state parks and never had a problem with these shoes. Anyone whos been on long treks and trails knows your shoe wear matters, and I can say that these are great
