The ordering template suggests and recommends ordering the shoes a whole one size smaller than what you normally wear and I recommend you follow that suggestion. I was reluctant to do so but did and they fit perfectly. I can even wear them with thick wool hiking socks, and they still fit very comfortably. As soon as they arrived I treated the upper leather part with Huberd's Shoe Grease. The shoes fit, are comfortable, slip resistant, and most importantly are waterproof. I've worn them to work on a rainy day where part of my job is outside and some is inside. I put six miles on them in one day, they work fine, they are comfortable, and my feet were not sore at the end of the day. I would have no problem recommending these shoes to a friend.

This is my second pair. My original pair was over 35 years old. The soles were getting too slick to wear in icy conditions, but the upper portion of each shoe was still in excellent condition.

They are wonderful. Thinking about a pair of mocs.

L.L. Bean probably does not anticipate my main use for this shoe. No it is not boating nor any outdoor activity. I am a urologist. I wear these shoes in surgery. In most of my surgeries, the floor gets quite wet. These shoes are great for this environment. My old pair was just worn down. This new pair is comfortable and has much support.

These are the most comfortable shoe/boot, I could wear these all day, which I have actually, you just need longer socks for them to feel really comfortable, I suggest ll LL Bean marina wool

The only truly waterproof shoes for early walks through damp fields during NE spring and summer. Size 8 fits my 8.5-9 foot. Lasts longer than I can remember.

Fit is larger than expected. Usually take 8 1/2 shoe, this is an 8 and fits perfectly. I am an LL Bean Emplyee

What a boot. Keeps my feet dry, even in heavy rain.

I have always wanted a pair of these shoes. The fit is great, non slip, superb workmanship and beautiful smell of leather. I've always enjoyed the rain. Go figure..right?!?

A known commodity, I'be ben wearing some version of Bean Boots Gumshoes for decades. Fit, form and function are all there.

Great quality with plenty of arch support. The only problem was that it took a couple of exchanges to get the right size which was 1 1/2 sizes smaller than my regular size.

Product is good. Shoes fit well and are great for use in the woods and wet areas. Fit well when ordered one size smaller than usual. Shipping was timely.

I have owned a pair of L.L.Bean's Maine Hunting Boots for over 20 years. I wanted a waterproof shoe I could use while fishing in a 12' foot boat that might leak some. I ordered these Gumshoes as they would be cooler fishing than the boots I own. I ordered them per the instructions in the catalog. The arrived and fit perfectly. I anticipate they will perform just as I intend them to.

How can anyone go wrong buying an LL Bean Gumshoe? ... They're the BEST shoe-boot in the world! ... I have owned a pair since 1973! ... LL Bean restores them for you FOR LIFE! ... I have a high rise and a low rise. I'm all set! Rain or snow, I'm covered - and the Vibram-soled, insulated high rises are outstanding. ... I love my good old "Made in Maine" LL Bean boots.

Wore a pair of these all the time in high school (35 years ago) and I can't believe how much more comfortable they are now. The foot bed is greatsupportive while standing and walking.

I've had my pair of gumshoes for 15-20 years. I found that unlike the picture, the short tongue slides down to form a pocket along the rubber seam line. Because the tongue is not attached to the sides, like the boots, I made an alteration. I cut 2 vertical slits in the tongue, like you would find on hiking or athletic shoes. This allowed me to pass my laces through and better keep the tongue from sliding or shifting. It doesn't eleminate the pouch at the seam line, due to the design, but has kept the tongue more in place. I wear the gum style as much as my 6" uninsulated boots in inclimate weather. I've tried insulated, but found they cannot be worn year round. An extra pair of socks in the winter is perfect for me.

Real good "WET" shoe. Tough comfortable durable and stylish. Could be less expensive but,,,? This Gumshoe is a keeper.

I've always had confidence in an LL Bean shoe product.
