This is an attractive and rich looking coat. The color is beautiful and the wool is soft to the touch. It has two sticking points, however, that prevent me from giving it five stars, to wit: the pockets are on the shallow side and any pair of gloves stuffed into these pockets is in danger of getting lost. Second, the zipper is tricky, as other reviewers have noted. I suppose one gets the hang of it, eventually, but meanwhile... I will be returning this coat because I ordered a size 16 but received, inexplicably, a size 14. I weigh 158 lbs and am 5'4". The 14 fits snugly and if I wear a sweater under it, I feel stiff and my ease of movement is impaired. I think coats should be a little roomy, so I hope that when I receive the size 16, (I am told it is back ordered forJuly!) I will have the comfort I need. I can hardly wait, but I guess I have no choice because I really want to have this nice coat!

The zipper doesn't work. I will exchange it. I love the coat and have wanted it for 2 years so I'm hoping it's just a fluke

4 regular is simply not a small enough option for smaller framed/short people. Please make smaller sizes of this coat!

I've been obsessed with this coat for three years, but it is still not available in petite, so I am still without it. I purchased the regular and the shoulders were too large and the sleeves and torso were too long. I took it to a tailor but it would cost a fortune to alter it to fit me, so I returned it. Please make it in petite!

I love everything about this coat and wore it day after day. I was disappointed that the toggle closure was not actually leather. Seems really cheap for the price paid.

Going by the size chart, I thought that the coat ran small for a relaxed fit. Further, the zipper was difficult to operate. On the plus side, the fabric was very nice and the plaid was attractive and just what I was looking for. I had an entire wardrobe built around it. In future, please offer the Women's Classic Lambswool Polo Coat, Three-Quarter, Pattern in Plus sizes for us mature shoppers who now need a little extra space.

Fit is small, style cut in shoulders was tight. Material seemed thin. Quality of toggles not up to L.L.Bean usual standards. Overall disappointing. I have worn L.L.Bean clothing for years and never had to order a size larger or return an item twice due to poor fitting. Signature item not available in L.L.Bean retail store which was even more disappointing and inconvenient for me as a buyer. I loved the style and red plaid though. What happened L.L.Bean with this coat? For $289 I was very unsatisfied and incurred 2 returns with it.

The fabric and workmanship may be lovely but something that screams "lesser quality" is the mismatched plaid on the front and arms. The manufacturer should have taken the time to match the plaid across the entire coat (an easy job!) and the coat would be much higher quality.

I've been wanting to order this for two years, and finally ordered in November. I could live with the inferior zipper and plastic toggles, but for a $300 coat I can't excuse the mismatched plaid. I would notice it every time I put the coat on. I'm so disappointed. I usually wear a size 6 so ordered an 8 to make sure it was large enough to wear a sweater under it. It was snug through the hips. Item was backordered and estimated delivery was January 8. No problem. Coat arrived two days before Christmas when I was out of town, and I had to ask a neighbor to pick up from my home since there is a huge problem with porch pirates in my area.

I read the reviews for this coat before I bought it and quite a few people said that the zipper was low quality. I didn't think it would be that bad. It really was that bad. I liked the coat very much. If the zipper had been of higher quality I would have kept the coat. I'm very sad that I couldn't. It was almost impossible to zip up.

I purchased this coat the first year it came out. I am 5'2" and the sleeves, shoulders, and torso were much too large for my frame, so sadly I had to return. The plaid makes this classic staple more stylish and unique, and so every fall I peruse the website and catalog, hoping this will be the year. Maybe 2025?

Tried ordering 2 times. Both had bad zippers. Zippers are not good quality. Also some loose strings. Very beautiful coats. It's a shame that the quality isn't there.

I ordered this coat in both colors and 3 sizes each because I really wanted this to work. I normally wear a 14 in coats. This one was way too narrow to layer (even the size 18!) and the toggles and toggle closures were plastic. Very disappointed in the quality and cut.

The coat was everything I hoped for except it had a musty order which made it unwearable.
