Had to return. Too small. Size 12 in the Phantom 2 fit perfectly. Why the size change in the Phantom 3? Makes no sense.

I ordered a pair of these shoes, and I am returning them. I love the wide toebox but I am not paying $140 for a pair of shoes whose only insole liner is a little piece of flat foam 3/16th of an inch thick. There is very little cushioning in the soles of these shoes. When I put my Keen sandals back on with their rubber/vinyl soles, they provide much more comfortable cushioning than these shoes do. Otherwise they appear to be well constructed.

I consider Phantom 3 instead of athletic shoes these are regular shoes. These shoes do not have the comfort, flexibility, and softness of athletic shoes. I have been using them for three days and it is a nightmare, the seams are annoying, the insole on the right shoe has a higher height that bothers the arch, especially if you have flat feet, the right shoe is narrower in the front which is evident if you look at it, I don't understand why despite what many customers have expressed, this company has not meticulously checked the right side shoes. I chose this model because the Magnifly model did not have a choice of black color, only gray.

The toe box is nice and wide but it is super narrow (even in the wide size) right near the arch of the foot. Also, it looks like it is cushioned but it is hard as a rock.

Their support in the heel area is too tight for me. Also, the shoe seems really wide in the front. It will buckle when I start running in it and that would bother my toes. Too much sole, wish it was thinner so you could "feel" the road better. Reminds me or a Hoka, which always has too big of a bottom on their shoes. Wish these shoe companies would offer a more "normal" looking running shoe with a 4 or 5 mm drop. Choices are limited which is why I tried these 5 mm but the shoe overall is just not comfortable. Too much going on, doesn't just fit on my foot unnoticed and ready to run. Keep shopping. Thanks for making returns SO easy ZAPPOS!1

Came back to read the reviews after not really being happy with these. The heel cushion wadded up on me, I thought it was a fluke, but see others mention it. The arch is in a weird spot and/or too narrow on my left foot. Which is my smaller for to begin with. Both feel too short. I LOVE my topo trail runners and boots, have many miles on both of those, these are just not "right" and I don't recommend. Wonder if the QC is lacking at the factory?

I have been wearing Topo's for the last few years, and have been loving the Phantoms. The first model was good, the second was amazingright out of the box/cushy/stable/no break in period! I've never loved a show so much! I fully expected to love the Phantom 3s toobut haven't. I ran in them 4-6 times/week for ~2 months and they still feel as though they need to be broken in. They are a much firmer feeling shoe than the Phantom 2s. I started having new pains I never had before as well, so have swapped back to the phantom 2s (was lucky enough to snag 2 pair in my size!), and am feeling much better! Please change the technology back! (Although I like the colors of the 3s!)

I wear my Phantoms to work most days as well as on walks. I have only had them a couple of months and the padding in the heel has wadded up. I wanted to love these shoes. I do love the roomy toe box and the cushion but disappointed in the heel issue. The wad is annoying so I don't wear them much. Should not have happened and they should have lasted longer for the price of these shoes!

The arch on the right shoe was off. The left one was comfortable but the actual structure of the right shoe was very poor and made my foot hurt.

I had previously tried the Phantom 2 and they didn’t fit my foot well and ran short. Ordered the Phantom 3 based on the positive reviews. 3 now runs true to size and is a better shoe than than the 2, but the heel doesn’t feel supportive to me…the shoe step feels clunky. IMO the shoe would also benefit from a more cushioned collar like what the Topo Magnifly has.

Love the shoes but the pair I got was obviously tried on/worn before. Although the soles were unused, they were untied/laced and had dirt/stains on the upper. As someone who regularly orders two pairs of shoes for size or color and returns those I don’t want, I always wrap the shoes as close as I can to the way they were received. So it was disappointing and skeevey.

Topo ruined this shoe for me. The size 12 Phantom 2 fit perfectly. I bought and wore out 3 pair. The size 12 Phantom 3 was too small and the size 12 1/2 too big. Change for the sake of change is a stupid thing. I’m done with Topo shoes.

Road runner. I loved the Phantom 2 and it's plush feel and soft heal. These Phantom 3's are a lot less plush and rubbed a blister on my heal before I got around the block.

Shoe actually injured me. The arch support is so far back, it hit my arch all wrong and just from trying them on, my arch was injured. Weeks later and it still feels wrong.

I have run in the Phantom 2 for years. It was my holy grail shoe - great cut to fit my arch, incredibly cushy foam, wide toe box (great for my right bunion). From the very first run, I could go for miles and miles in the Phantom 2 without any pain at all. I tried the Topo Atmos recently, and it felt very unstable. The Atmos hurt not only my right big toe joint but also my ankles. I was afraid to try the Phantom 3 for fear that Topo had ruined my favorite shoe, and I was right. I was excited to take the new pair of Phantom 3's out for this morning's easy 5 miles. Right away, the foam feels MUCH harder than the Phantom 2, which I do not like at all. The Phantom 2's cushy foam was what made it such an incredible shoe for churning out easy miles and long runs. I even had trouble getting the lacing right on the Phantom 3. If I tie them tight enough that my heels don't slip, they're WAY too tight across the front of the foot and ankle. If I loosen them, it feels like I'm going to run right out of the shoe. The arch of the shoe no longer hits in the right place, which I believe led to arch pain in the right foot toward the end of my run. The toe box also feels less wide and less voluminous than the Phantom 2. Overall, I'm incredibly disappointed in this shoe and in Topo for taking a near-perfect shoe and making it so, so much worse in the name of profit. I'll probably give the Phantom 3's one more run, but I see myself returning these along with the Atmos to Fleet Feet in the near future. I'm sad I missed out on stocking up on Phantom 2's before they sold out everywhere because now, I don't have a shoe that I can run in that doesn't cause me pain.

My issue is that Zappos sent these Topo Sneakers in plain card box inside a bag -the plain cardboard box says on it "you were sent this box because the original box was damaged during delivery". How do I know these aren't knockoffs? These were not on sale but should have been to send like this. Topo usually has literature in the box about the shoe-no literature. Also laces were untied and although they were clean they look to have been a return as laces were pulled open and creases were at the toes. OF course the color was sold out in my size now. Returned.
