The top of the shoe makes an annoying popping sound with every step.
Shoes are uncomfortable as well.

Worst pair of Salomon shoes I’ve ever worn. Actually, the worst pair of shoes I’ve ever worn. I’ve probably purchased ten pair of Salomon shoes over the years so I’m very familiar with them. I’ve purchased this style several times. These are terrible…they feel lumpy under the ball of my feet, are stiff and just very uncomfortable. I wish I could return them.

The wide a bit too wide. I'd tighten more for a better fit but it would wrinkle the shoe. The medium sized one feels tight. Discomfort on right foot. Ive been reading they need to be broken in. I mean if my left foot feels ok, it's just my right shoe that needs to be broken in. The quality shoes always need a broken in period is what I've noticed.
I like the solid look and texture.

One of my favorite shoes of all time. However the lack of a Mid Version is maddening. What's the use of having Gortex when water and snow simply pour over the top of the low cut model. The Mid model also provided protection and stability for the ankles.
Frustrated,

I bought these shoes and they're very comfortable, and true to size. I couldn't be me pleased with how they feel and the stability they provide.

This is my fifth pair of Salomons and fourth pair of xa 3d pros. This is my first gore-tex pair. Same comfort and quality. Only negative is they make a popping sound when walking I guess because of the material. Other than that, great shoe!

Very comfortable; the fit is true to the size. They have good stability without being tight.

I have been buying Salomon"s for 15+ years. Most time out of the box true to size. This pair feels tight and short in right foot. So going with the wide and 1/2 size larger. Sad because the wide only comes in Black, really liked these for different color. so we'll see.

I bought these 3 months ago. The fit good and broke in quickly. They have good traction on wet surfaces. This is my 3rd pair. They last about 2 years.

Ive been wearing Solomons for 20+ years. Had 3 pair of ultra in a row, all fell apart in the first months. I purchased all 3 at once when they were available in my size, since I had been wearing that shoe for 10yr and like them so much. Tried a new pair of XA pro 3d. Shoes seem okay, but only worn then a few times and the spring loaded part of the quick-laces has failed and laces are frayed. Going tk have to find a new brand. Previously, I reccomended Solomons as the best shoe Ive ever owned, now a waste of money.

attractive and well built shoes, is not what I was after when looking to relieve daily knee pain caused by 8hrs of concrete floors. landed on the Merrill Float Pro (also Goretex) with the friendly heel landing design.

I order these 2 boxes at a time. I wear them daily, and often on search & rescue missions (depending on trail conditions). I always wear them while travelling in Europe ... very comfortable and waterproof. For me they are true to size (10 1/2; average foot size) and require no break in period. Take them out of the box and walk 15 miles. They last a long time, considering they are my daily footwear.

These shoes are good for hiking but not for trail running. The EVA midsole in this case is very tough for me. The tip is reinforced what provides a good protection for your toes. Big advantage is weight.

Ordered my 4th pair of this shoe and its previous editions. The shoes I received had an obvious defect in the sole/heel area that appears to have a delamination of material. The shoe made an audible sound on each and every step, so exam showed the cause. Salomon customer service was difficult to deal and made returning the shoe a lengthy and unpleasant experience. Shameful because either a return or replacement would have been acceptable. I've worn a version of this shoe for the past 12 years. This pair is being returned on the 3rd day of ownership.

Ive purchased my 4th pair of these shoes because they have been great in the past. This new pair make a lot of noise when walking in them. A distracting amount of noise. May return them.

Im a caddie, and during the late Fall and Winter I rely on my Salomon GTX shoes. They keep my feet dry even though heavy downpours. Ive only worn these new shoes for two caddie gigs, but they performed as well as my old pairs. No break in period required, and they are super supportive across every type of terrain.

They look very nice, but they are a little stiff and your feet gets somewhat moist when used more than 45 minutes. Another downside is that you need to remove the insoles and put in a Spenco or Super Feet insoles, because the originals are thin and worthless other than that they are very nice.

I've bought 5+ pairs of these shoes, and the lacing system always breaks well before soles wear down or the rest of the shoe should need replaced. You can buy a replacement lace kit, but it seems impossible to relace through the super-small eyelet. Very poor design.

I have worn these shoes about 3 weeks, and they are the best shoes I have ever owned. Seriously. They are firm on the heel, and I can't feel train rocks on my soles. The tightening system took a bit of getting used to, but it is brilliant. Very happy with these!
