I will be hiking the Camino (15-18 miles/day) later this summer and decided to try the XA Pro 3D. The footbed is comfortable except for the skinny string laces. This style of lace does not distribute tension well and creates hotspots on the top of my feet. Unfortunately, all of Salomon's women's hiking shoes offered this season, with the exception of the Elixir, have the string shoe laces so I will be looking elsewhere for new hiking shoes.

After wearing the XA Pro for several years, I've noticed that the new model feels wider compared to previous versions, and it doesn't fit me as comfortably. I ordered the same size I've worn in the past. However, one positive feature of this model is that the laces are threaded through the tongue of the shoe, preventing them from sliding to the side as much.

These shoes are not at all waterproof! I had read this in another review and thought it had to be a mistake since they clearly listed as vortex. Everything else about the shoe is great,

I am so disappointed that nothing in the Salomon line now fits me like the old Mission Xs 1,2 and 3 did---I could put those on new and never want to take them off as they fit so perfectly and were so comfy! The rest of the line seems to have only almond-shaped toe boxes rather than the more rounded toe box of the Mission design. Had to return these---still love the colors of Salomon athletic shoes, but they no longer fit.

I was looking for a shoe to fit as well as the Salomon speed cross six. For me this is not it. After trying different insoles this is still just not the shoe for me. Wish I would have returned them instead of trying different insoles to get them to work. There is plenty of room in the toe box and room in the top of the tongue for the lace which is nice. They also seem to be pretty durable. Unfortunately, just not the shoe for me.

I have been wearing Solomon’s for years, and love them as my hiking shoes. My old pair needed to be retired, so I bought these in the same size and my feet were swimming in them. I returned them for 1/2 size smaller and they are still too big. I can’t imagine buying hiking shoes or any athletic shoe for that matter a whole size smaller than my average shoe size. I am bummed I wore them out on the trails and can no longer return them.

I have worn the XA PRO 3D for decades, through several iterations/models. It has ALWAYS been available in a size 12. Now along comes the newest model, the V9, and suddenly the sizing only goes up to an 11. Why? This is the only hiking shoe that fits me (not just among Salomon, but among all brands). I buy 2 pair a year and have worn this model for decades. Women's feet are getting larger on average, not smaller. And I can't just buy the men's version - they are too wide for me. Please begin making this model in a women's size 12.

I loved my older Salomon’s. These newer ones have gotten very narrow in the toe box. Also a bit too long in the toe. Returned.
