I loved the Torin 2, 2.5, and 5. The Torin 7 is a major disappointment. The stiff redesign hurts the malleoli and is very unpleasant. The heel is higher and stiff. What were they thinking?

These are not the same Torin's as previous models. Upper is far too rigid, causing malleolar pain. Developed Achilles pain for the first time in my life after 10 miles of running/walking. Returned.

I wear 12 wide shoes. I read in the reviews that their shoes ran smaller than normal. I planned to buy size 13 wide shoes but they were out of stock so I ordered 12 1/2 wides. Shoes arrived just fine but were too short; big toe was pressing into the end of shoes. Width seemed ok and otherwise I liked them. Shipped them back with the enclosed return label and got refunded in a short time. Ordering and returning the shoes worked great but they are still out of stock in size 13s.

I wanna even entertain these shoes unless they have the wide tow box which they've only put on like two basic colors. So unless they offer wide and all their colors, I'm not even gonna try them.

I have been a loyal Altra customer since the Torin 3.5s---would put 500+ miles per pair. This is the second time I have tried the 7s, and they have fallen apart and felt rigid. Will be moving to Topo unless there is a return to the old style.

I bought this shoe when experiencing pulled muscle they were amazing I went from can't hardly walk to only being able to walk in these shoes. However, I would expect better quality for the almost 200 I paid to buy them. I am not a runner, within a month the soles started coming apart on the bottom of the shoes. I am sad that these aren't better quality I have Nikes and sketchers for 5-7 years and still going nothing is ripping of if those shoes. Altar u need to provide better quality product that doesn't fall apart a month later.

3 pairs of Torins and a pair of FWDExperience and they have all split on the same side in the same spot. Like like the fit and feel of the shoes, but Quality is no good at all. My latest pair had 136 miles and have started the splitting/tearing process. Horrible waste of $$$.

My Torin 5 was great. My Torin 6 was absolutely perfect. Thanks to Torin 7, I now wear a different brand. The sole is way too squishy and too thick. The side is not squishy and it almost rubbed a blister on my ankle bone after walking around in them for 5 minutes. The heel drags the ground. Bring back the Torin 6, the 7vis pretty awful.

Mid foot is too narrow. Need to widen midfoot and not just in stupid kid shoe colors. Topo Athletic shoes are wide and are catching up to you Altra.

I'm a regular runner of about 30-40 miles per week and have been a user of Altra Escalantes for a few years now. I opted for the Torin 7 this time instead for the extra cushioning. I was happy with the cushioning, the generally comfortable forefoot upper and toe box but the upper around the ankle was very problematic. Because of its high rigidity I was getting bruising just under my ankle bone from some intense pressure that was resulting each time my foot struck the ground. There was even light pressure under my ankle bone when standing still. It doesn't feel like running the shoes in will address the issue. I've experienced discomfort with new shoes but never pain like in this case. Disappointed I didn't stick with the Escalantes.

This is the first pair of Altra shoes I've ever returned. They are dreadful. I thought they felt a little odd when I tried them on at the store, but I figured they needed a little breaking in. I was wrong. The heel/ankle areas are so hard and rigid, yet so wide open, that these shoes slide no matter how you tie or lace them. These two issues combined to rub my ankles raw. I have nasty blisters from them. They are also much narrower in the toe box than any Altra I've ever worn (and I've gone through a dozen pairs since 2018). They were practically crushing my toes (albeit not as bad as a normal running shoe). But they also rubbed raw the inner and outer areas of the widest parts of both my feet. I don't know why these Altras are different from any pair I've worn before, but they are NOT the same shoes I've loved and worn for years.

These shoes wore holes in the heel lining and under the ankle in less than 2 months. It seems like a bad design. Altra says it is a fit problem. We have had many other running shoes without this type of wear. I would not recommend Altra shoes and won't purchase again.

The shoe digs into my outside ankle as other reviews have pointed out. Also, the laces won't stay tied and are too short to lace into the top loop. These shoes are quite disappointing, especially given the price tag.

Got for walking. Very uncomfortable! Toe box not tall enough and putting downward pressure on top of toes. Unbearable at times wearing it. Called customer service and they will only give me coupon.

These shoes were fine for about 100 miles, nothing exceptionally different from any other brand or model that I've tried. After that point I started to notice that the shoes were essentially beginning to fall apart at every critical point. Heel collar interior wearing all the way through, outsoles wearing completely through to the foam, stitching coming apart, upper mesh tearing apart. I am now retiring the shoes at 185 miles. This is the first time in twenty years of running that I've had to buy new shoes after three months of use.

I've been running in the Torin since the 4.5, which is where I fell in love with the shoe. Skipped the 5 and went from the 4.5 to the 6. The Torin 6 was okay, however poor quality. The shoe only lasted about 100 miles before parts of the sole started pealing off. (This happened on three separate pairs of the Torin 6.) The tong design caused issues with cutting into the foot when running if not kept away from bare skin. Now enter the Torin 7. I was very excited to give this a try with the changes to the tong design, padding, heel redesign, etc. Unfortunately, the shoe did not live up to the hype. The redesigned tong was fantastic, but that was the end of the accolades. Two largest issues with the Torin 7 are 1) shoelaces are too short. This seems to be happening across all the new Altra shoes. Hardly enough length to tie a single knot in the second highest eyelet. How do you expect to make this work for a runner's loop? 2) the padding on the exterior ankle cutout is firmer and higher than the Torin 6. This resulted in rubbing and bruising of the exterior ankle bone and ultimately why I sent the shoes back. It is unfortunate that the quality of the Torin, and Altra shoes in general, has been on a continual decline. I will no longer be buying Altra shoes and looking to other brands such as Topo and Flux for a zero drop wide toe box running shoe.

For many years I bought succeeding versions of Altra Torins, and they were the best. But Altra changed. Torins are no longer sized properly. They've been making and selling narrow shoes and labeling them mediums since about the Torin 5 or 6. These 7s again are still narrow even though labeled as if medium. There are other brands which have more reliable and true sizing, which I am happy with. Sorry to let Altra go, because the Zero Drop is a great feature. I just can't trust this sizing anymore. Worse yet, they don't make wide or double wides in their current scheme, oh well.

I wore these to work for an 8 hour shift and before I made it home I had decided to send them back. My feet were very uncomfortable. Unfortunately for me I had exceeded the 30 day return policy.

The heels on both shoes ripped and began to disintegrate almost immediately - trying to diagnose but likely due to lace slippage allowing my heel to slide. Tried a number of different lace locks to prevent but unfortunately after two months and less than 30 miles these shoes are already done. I've never had this happen on a Hoka or an Asics previously - or on a prior Altra.

they improved the quality of the torin, but totally changed the toe box fit and feel. i wore a size 12 in the last torin, but 12 was too big in the new one. so i went with 11.5. which felt fine at the time. two shifts at work in them and i noticed my pinky toes were sore and seemed to be smashed into the sides. on a better not i got the rivera and their awesome so far.

Was really hoping they lived up to the hype, but they didn't. The toe box is smaller, and it's not as tall. My toes, especially the big to rub the top of toe box. This is in a way that none of my other shoes fit. I'm also not a fan of new heal. I've never had to to use any special lacing before in shoes, but my heal seemed to need more of a heel lock lacing for this shoe. I also just wasn't a fan of how big the heel thing is in the back. Not sure why that was added, but seems big and bulky. I'll be sending them back. Please bring back the Torin 4.5.

Something is not right with the heel area. After wearing the shoe for several weeks, my heel is directly over the side of the insole where it meets with the side of the shoe, causing discomfort. The insole is starting to shred in this area. Never had this issue with brooks or saucony neutrals.

I had been a fan of the Torin up to the 5, which I thought was kind of "just okay" but not terrible. That version still had a decent foot shape, and though it didn't have a cushy sole it performed well on long runs (I'm willing to forgive the issues with the sharp tongue). I was excited to see the update for this model, but at this point I think all that I really like about the shoe is the laces. I've given these shoes a good, solid shot - about 70 miles so far - and I'm just not sure what good I can say about this version. The fact that it's the same "foot shape" as the Escalante is wild to me. My Escalante 3s are way roomier in the toe box and mid foot than the Torin 7, and I can't seem to escape heel slip no matter how I tie the shoe. On top of that, the upper is stiff and the sole feels dead and heavy. I've tried different lacing patterns, insoles, and sock combinations, but it just doesn't hit the mark. My hope at this point is that the Escalante doesn't fall to the same fate as this version, otherwise I'll have to start looking elsewhere for my daily runners.
