These are more expensive than other gore tex pants but theyre worth the extra money. They are very light and flexible. The fit is fantastic, they look like regular pants when wearing. One caveat - for me they run small so if youre between sizes definitely size up.

I haven't had a chance to use these yet, but wanted to leave this here in case this is helpful for others (tl;dr: try 'em on if you can. Sizing is not straightforward and your use-case matters): I live in an area where I don't have the opportunity to try these on at a retail location, so went through several attempts to get the sizing right. For reference - I wear a size medium in regular length (32" inseam) in *almost everything*, including all other arcteryx pants that I own. I'm 43, 5' 10" (178cm), and typically somewhere between 165 and 170 lbs (75-77kg) with a middle aged athletic build - no six-pack here, but I'm no slouch either. My actual waist measurement is around 35" (89cm) at the time of this review, which puts me on the upper end of Medium in the sizing chart, but still a couple inches short of the Large. My use case is that these will primarily be layered over a light to mid-weight softshell pant in cold & wet conditions. (Typically a pair of gamma lt pants or similar pieces from other brands, which fit comfortably in a size M, regular length.) I tried size Medium/Regular (too long and not enough room to layer underneath), Large/Regular (just too long), and I finally settled on the Large/Short inseam. I do have to cinch the drawstring a bit, but not an excessive amount. This also gives me a bit of a buffer for bulkier/additional layers underneath if needed. (The drawstring *does* work, pull them away from each other as noted in another review here somewhere....). These also seem to be sized longer than I'd expect - with the regular length being absurdly long for me, even with boots on. I was nervous that the short inseam would be too short, but it turns out to be just about perfect. For me, the Medium would have worked over a light baselayer, but for the way I want to use these, I wasn't confident the Medium would work. YMMV. The sizing is a bit weird, and I don't love the snap closure at the waist, but after lots of research these were the best option for a relatively lightweight, full zip, 3 layer gore-tex pant. Fingers crossed that the bit of extra room in the waist also prevents some of the issues with the snaps coming un-done that others have commented on. (Haven't experienced this yet, but as I said above, they also haven't left the house....)

great waterproof pants, fit was quite relaxed even with a layer under the pants, Although I am 185cm I still opted to go with the short variant because I found the regular length longer then I preferred. and the lack of pockets was a concern at first but got used to it after some time.

I both this pant a month ago and had them in heavy rain, and they worked perfect! The only thing you should think of, is the sizing, its not like the old ones, that a M was pretty big/loose fit, this M is a normal M.

I bought these specifically for hiking in snow. I opted for the Men's Beta Pant because of price. The Women's Beta LT Hadron Pant was more expensive and I wanted a less expensive option. These worked out perfectly for my needs. Great fit (I have curves), comfortable and will probably last my lifetime. I wore over my base layer bottoms and just felt like I was wearing normal pants all day. Didn't experience that crunchy feeling with other hardshell pants I've had in the past.

I bought these and returned them. The side snaps - one on each side - are not retentive enough to stay closed when trying to reach into the pocket of pants worn underneath. There should be two snaps per side. (The same is true of the Alpha pants, though the snaps' being inside the waist-band renders them somewhat more retentive.) In addition, the belt-tightening system involves only the front panel, which doesn't really work all that well. (Again the Alpha pants do something similar, but it works enough better that I kept them, having ordered them after returning the Betas.)

Unfortunately, I've become acquainted with the fact that there are black Beta AR pants, and even black versions of these. I have the Black Sapphire which is honestly just a sort of cement-blue sort of thing. That's disappointing (it doesn't coordinate with my black Beta AR jacket). Fine. The other issue is that these are a pure shell: there are no pockets. That makes them, as pants, relatively useless; effectively like a pair of under-layer thermal pants. But these are the outermost thing you wear, so why they have no pockets is completely beyond me. They're great at defending against water though, so I'll give them that.

Extremely good cut, will not slide down from hips if you read sizing info and choose appropriately. Good hips, good knees, good fit around boots - makes for little noise when walking (compared to other more baggy pants). However, the waist is secured with a snap button. The practical effect of this is that the pants constantly falls off if you try to ventilate by opening zippers. So understand that these pants are either "on" or "off" and doesn't really have a functional option for ventilation. Too bad, would otherwise have been a "best in class" product. Please fix! Would have liked to see stronger fabric over knees, rocks seems to wear them a lot.

I expected more from these pants. The Gore-Tex material is wonderful. And I LOVE the size: Tall Small. So hard to find tall gear for leaner men. But no belt loops? No pockets? These pants are merely a shell, not for serious backcountry use. For the price, I expected more from Arc'Teryx.

I replaced a pair of Arc Teryx rain pants purchased in 2007 under warranty. The details to fabrics and construction is excellent. Major issues is with inseam sizing. I tried on a pair of regular inseam pants on the Seattle store. Went with short on my mail order purchase. Still too long by 1 to 1.5 inches. Reason for 2 stars.

Sizing is very confusing. What type of models are you using? I have a 32inch waist. I bought mediums which was suppose to support up to 34. 32 are a true 31. This could be resolved with an elastic backing. There is zero give in the waist. I have now ordered a large with a 37 inch waist???Not optimistic.

Simply tying an bow knot on the waist drawcord causes the cord to pretty much lock on the knot. It's useless. I tied the bow knot once which then required minutes of working the cord to get the it loose. I repeated this a few times to ensure it wasn't me. In use in the comfort of my home, the waist adjustment isn't functional. Otherwise, nice shells butnthis critical feature is a deal breaker. I'd return as I found a much more functional pant from another manufacturer.

Bought this a few mos ago & returned it because it had no hand pockets which makes this product unfortunately useless to me..I unfortunately missed that bit of info in the product description
