For pure ice climbing or walking in the snow/rain I'm sure this jacket is great. However, for Scottish mixed climbing or any activity in which it is likely to come into contact with rock it's useless. 1 day of Scottish mixed and it had multiple nicks and tears from where it had brushed on coarse granite. I ended up using my old beta jacket for the remainder of the trip and this withstood anything I could do to it. The Alpha is a lovely looking jacket but with shocking durability.

Arc'teryx claim that their products are designed for long life and durability. This is incorrect. Following a pair of ski pants and another jacket, this jacket is the third Arc'teryx iproduct that literally falls apart because the the inferior glue they used. My local dealer was ready to sell me another tube with glue for home repair. I bought Arc'teryx together with other brands so that I could to switch and mix so that the garments would last. No other brand falls apart except for Arc'teryx. For some reason I can not attache pictures. I can not recommend this brand.

Bought this XL jacket online. Body is perfect fit but sleeves are two inches too long! (and I have long arms). If you look at the model wearing size M, notice how bunched up the sleeves are at the wrist. No alternative but to return for refund, and I loved the black/yellow color and the functionality of this jacket!

Disappointed with the quality of the coat there was lose stitching by the zippers and the coat was delaminated around the hood area upon it arriving

The jacket is great. What I have a problem with is Arc'teryx support, in-store experience, and online ordering. I have had two Alpha jackets spanning at least 10-15 years and am trying to get a third as a replacement for my last. It failed on the seam around the hood adjustment buttons. This happened in May 2023 while I was in the Alps. Arc'teryx has still been unable to provide a solution. What I have experienced is apathetic store personnel, shoddy repairs, delays, more shoddy repairs, inability to use replacement vouchers, inability to create an online account, having to fill out orders online multiple times without success due to "security systems", numerous calls to customer service with transfers and "security verifications", etc... It has been 9 months of bureaucratic nightmare and I have not been sent a replacement much less any form of acceptable appeasement for this company's very bad service. My opinion; This product is expensive and does not provide the kind of support people who actually use it in the wilderness need.

I bought this product two years ago. This is the third coat of it's kind I've owned with the same YKK zipper and not one lasted beyond two seasons. The coat itself is well constructed but the zipper either fails to mesh the teeth or the teeth break after frequent use. Do not buy one this coat if you expect it to last beyond two years, or you know a good tailor who can replace the zipper.
