I have used this product across all disciplines of mountain guide work for the last 11 months. Started out using it for guiding ice climbs, and found it to be an excellent layer for this sport. Drys quickly. Not to hot on long hard pitches. Fits great under shell or belay puffy and does not restrict movement. Next used it do a full ski mountaineering season from Alaska to the North Cascades. Touring out from the car or riding in the Heli it was excellent. Reached for it on almost every down run. Paired it with a light down puffy in camp to make one bigger insulation layer. Power to weight ratio is so important in the mountains. N. Cascades Alpine climbing season: early Mt. Baker summits it was on for the up. Early morning climbs in Boston Basin it was perfect for a bivy on the north ridge! Finally- awesome belay jacket on cold autumn belays on cannon cliff NH

An excellent mid- and outerlayer. Better collar than the lighter version Atom jacket has. This one is taller like an insulation jacket collar should be. Good pockets. Make this jacket with the colour Stratus. That is really good wintry colour.

Bomber jacket. Warm and stylish. Great for intense activity < freezing, or light activity < 50F. Works as a standalone, or over layers. Use the draw cords to enhance fit. Athletic: 6'1", 190lbs, 33"waste, 44" chest, broad shoulders.

I bought this recently mostly for the new color(Boxcar). I already have the hooded AR model from 2022. I use the AR model and this one for everything from around town to more serious outdoor adventures. They are without a doubt the best jackets that I have owned. One thing I am curious about is the branding. On the older model it's on the chest with the bird. On this one it's on the collar and becomes invisible if you roll the collar down. This seems odd from a marketing standpoint. When it's on the chest it is obviously more visible and someone who has never owned the brand could easily see it and go to your website to check it out, without having to ask the wearer. I don't like the heavy branding that some companies use, but yours has been minimal and I've always liked the approach of just the bird and your name.

Still the best jacket on the market and I'll tell you why. As someone who lives in the north east of England and at the coast, I need a jacket that has a wide operating window because on any given walk with the dogs you can experience a number of different conditions. Today, for example, was a case in point. Setting off from the fish Quay it was around 7, overcast but sheltered. My jacket was happy to cope with just a t shirt on underneath. Walking up to the monument in tynemouth, the north sea wind whipped up and reduced the temp at least to 0. Jacket completely fine with this, hands without gloves were very cold and needed to go in the toasty pockets. Then, coming back from the monument you get a sheltered area and the sun came out. Must have raised up to around 16 and all I needed to do was pull the zip down a little. Sitting at a cafe in tynemouth we had changeable conditions throughout the coffee and I didn't need to alter the coat once. At no point was I cold and what's more significant, neither was I too hot. This jacket just seems to be brilliant at keeping you in the right range. My friend, who had a jumper, snood and puffer jacket, was happy in the cold windy conditions, sweating in the warm and constantly adjusting her attire. Snood off, jacket unzipped, roasting. Then snood on etc etc. If you want a jacket that's genuinely 3 seasons and has about the widest operating window of any jacket I've owned, this is it. Yes, I wish they'd stayed with the origin fitting but that's a minor quibble. This is, still, the best jacket you can buy.

Bought this jacket for my husband after buying one for myself about a year ago. The only issue he's had with it is initial sizing. I first ordered a XL since he has the atom LT hoody in XL that fits well. However, when we got this one it was quite big and ultimately got exchanged for a L which fits him perfectly. The return/refund/repurchase process was easy and quick. He loves the jacket. It's kept him warm on our runs and walks down to -30 degrees so far. He likes how light weight and warm it is and that the neckline is lined and soft.

This jacket is really warm for how light it is, like sneaky warm. I wore just this over a t-shirt to walk my dogs in high 30 degrees F weather, and I was breaking a sweat by the end! It is also decently waterproof for something like a wet snow, but I would still toss a shell over it in a downpour. The body of the jacket fits me great. For reference, I am an athletic/average build (think stocky farm-boy). I could see how if you were super skinny at the waist with broad shoulders that this might feel a little big in the body. But I am not in the group of people that want my outerwear to fit "skin tight". I like that there is room to toss a hoodie underneath if temps drop really low. And there is a drawstring on each side of the bottom so you can tighten it to you and trap in the heat. Very happy with this purchase. Will wear for a long time.

I bought the lighter version of this jacket thinking it would be warm enough for -10C weather. Nope. Returned it and ordered the heavyweight and what a difference in warmth! XL fits my 6'1" frame perfectly and the high collar is both warm and soft. The jacket is very light but packs a great deal of warmth and shielding from the wind. Definitely worth the price.

I use this jacket as a top layer and mid layer depending on the weather and activity and it is an excellent performer providing warmth, comfort and reliability. It continues to provide high performance and quality that we expect and to experience in these products and does not suffer any of the sizing issues that some of the outer jackets have presented this season.

Great Jacket extremely warm but yet breathable. fits good with a heavy sweater underneath on cold days. Also makes you free to move around with the jacket on. I was able to test out jacket in Toronto Canada an extremely cool day and it was extremely warm.

The jacket seems a bit large for me, but that could be a larger cut to wear a layer under in the colder months... Really like the color and the jacket overall. No issues. great jacket for cool or cold windy days...

I am really enjoying the warmth and feel of the jacket. The sizing is true to fit. Have been wearing the jacket on windy days . I noticed that it does block the wind and keeps the warmth in.

The sleek design paired with the functionality makes this the go to jacket for me. I love how it's slim to the body but doesn't sacrifice how warm you are while wearing it. Definitely will be purchasing another after this one wears down.

It's hard to find an article of clothing in my closet that is not Arc-teryx. I have at least one item from every category of clothing. My #1 favorite is the Atom jacket because it's the perfect mid-layer for cool Bay Area temperatures. I even wear it inside a lot because it feels so good to wear. I also just bought my girlfriend one, but the Atom hoody one which I am now jealous of and adding to cart.

I have the previous version of this jacket (Atom AR) in both Jacket and Hoodie form, both were amazing over the winter and kept me nice and toasty when out for early morning or late evening dog walks, around town, to work and the occasional walk around the countryside. They've replaced the down jackets I used previously as the fit and finish is simply better. The Atom AR/Heavyweight is a definite must have Arcteryx jacket.

Received this jacket and as expected the quality is exceptional. The black sapphire color is a dark navy/purple tone to it. Glad I chose this color. Ordered a size large and it's true to size. Great product!

This jacket is a good fit. I'm waiting to test it once it gets colder here and I will use it as a mid-layer jacket. Right now I do wear it when it's a little chilly and I'm enjoying it right now.

The revised Atom Heavyweight is well-made. It differs from the Atom AR models that I own from past years in that the insulation seems thinner and the fit has changed. The fit around the torso is quite boxy and the arms are a bit roomier too. I may need to try a medium given the new fit. Overall, the Atom Heavyweight is a tough to beat value if you can find the size that fits.

Well they said the sizing has changed for the Large and Small and not the Medium, well I bought this exact jacket about 3 years ago, still very good, and I laid the older one on top of this new one, the arm length, shoulders and chest are the same, but I found the bottom 40cm to be slightly wider by about 3 cm, I had to pull the draw strings in to get it the same width at the bottom, hence when you put your hands in the pockets you can feel the slightly more room. Other wise a well made coat, I wish it didn't come so creased.

I love this jacket. Light enough yet warm enough for what I need. Construction seems solid but I'll keep an eye on it once I start getting some heavier use out of it. I love the fit as well; easy to move in, no grabbing, no pinching, no bunching up. Comfortable. Versatile. Well built. Sharp looking. Simple yet effective design. Another great product from a company that cares about their product.

Jacket is nice, light and was ok warm at 9 degrees C, and windy, with only a T-Shirt under. But the product I received was very loose in the chest and neck area. Would be ok with thick hoodie under, but not lighter clothing. Don't think small would fit because of arm length. I ordered a medium, as all my other clothing (I'm 5'11 and 170 lbs). Zipper around neck area was not smooth. So overall, I filed a return.
