I spent a good deal of time researching the right winter coat for the coldest days in NYC. I wanted something waterproof, long, light and very warm. I own a 15-year-old Canada Goose arctic parka, which is as warm as it gets, but it is heavy and not particularly comfortable unless its -10 F and I'm sitting still for hours. I needed a more practical solution for light activity at 0 to 20 F, or 20-35 F with wind and cold rain. I just received the Terme SV Parka, and it appears to check every box. I'm 5'11" and 200 LBS with a fairly muscular build, and the L fits really well with a heavy sweater. It isn't perfectly form-fitting, like a woman's parka, but it's not baggy either. I like the minimalist, flat look - no fancy zippers or pockets. My pet peeve with many coat/jackets is difficult zippers. The zipper on this coat is very easy and smooth. The coat is long, fitting a couple of inches above my knees. I wouldn't ski in it, but I didn't get this for winter sports (though I could probably ski or snowboard in it without an issue on a bitter cold day. The most impressive aspect of the coat is how light and comfortable it is. It's literally as light as (a few thousand) feathers. The material is supple, rather than stiff, and, unlike many other parkas, the wrist band is loose enough to be very comfortable, yet snug enough to keep out wind and snow. With the hood on, and the coat zipped all the way up, I still have excellent visibility. The hood fits perfectly, and the collar is loose enough to accommodated head movement, yet snug enough to provide protection. The inner material is very comfortable on my face and neck. If you're looking for an exceptionally warm, though likely sub-arctic, long, waterproof parka, I think the Terme SV is practically perfect. Admittedly, I haven't tested it in the elements yet, but at 56 years old, I think I've owned enough coats to accurately predict its performance.

Great jacket, perfect length. I am 6'3" and 190lbs -- I decided to go with a Medium and have regrets. Fits well around the chest and still enough room for a hoodie underneath, if need be. Highly recommend this coat.

Just took possession of the new Therme SV Parka and it is exactly as marketed. Amazing jacket, could defintely see many opting for one size down as it is roomy. But fabulous quality and comfort and very technical. I do wish the zipper was reversed, sometimes awkward to do up,

Great Parka. I've had it a few weeks. Almost 10 years ago, I bought a Westcomb Mission Parka, size small. At the time I was 155-160 lbs (5' 8"). It fit well, but Medium would have been better. Past few years my weight has been ~168 and Westcomb was snug. I wanted a generous, forgiving Parka this time around and decided on the Therme SV. I went with Large. It's generous, just like I wanted. I can tie my shoes, pick up our small pup, without the tight feeling across the shoulders. Including all this detail, as so many reviews mention sizing. The shell material is slightly heavier than my other Arcteryx stuff, and I like it. Hand pockets have super soft fleece lining against knuckles, which I'm also a fan of. Nice heavy duty primary zipper. Hood might be a little big, but to be expected, since I rounded up size wise. Color I got is Bitters. Like a premium brown. Very happy with my purchase.

Absolutely superb jacket, value for the money in comparison with other too flashy jackets it is an excellent blend of corporate plus weekend gear wear as a consultant who loves to hike.

A good jacket. I've moved with it between minus 4 degrees and 2 degrees and with a t-shirt it just does the job. However, I expected it to be warmer for the price. We'll see how it performs in the depths of winter. The sizing is massive and the cut is baggy, I'm 172cm and weigh around 75kg and with the size S I have room for multiple layers (I usually wear size M).

I returned the good as fitting too big. I ordered an XL based on indicated measurements , but turned out to be too big (sleeves and chest, maily). Other than that, parka felt great, material, quality .. i would have kept it fir sure

This is a great jacket. Feel great inside and outside. I have yet to test it in true cold weather, but I am confident it will be warm enough for a Toronto winter. The problem I have with this jacket is the size. This jacket is so oversized getting the right size is hard. I have true athletic body, wide shoulders and chest but small waist. So even though my chest is the size for the large, but waist and hips are made for somebody with 36+ waist. My recommendation is to review the all sizing dimensions, since they jacket runs large.

The Therme SV Parka looks great and is well made as are all Arcteryx products. I have to admit that I was dissapointed in the level of warmth this jacket provides in very cold weather. I live in New York City so it gets cold but not arctic temperatures . I agree with some of the other reviews that said you would need to layer up with temps below 25 F or so. That said, I do very well with a base layer and my cerium hoody under the Therme SV, now that keeps me warm in almost any condition I encounter. If you can stomach the price, this is a good "all weather" piece to own, knowing that you still have to layer in very cold temps.

bought size M (I usually wear a L, 180 cm, 75 Kg): fits too big, not insulated enough, wind enters from everywhere: used in a cold and windy day (-4 C feels like -8) and it was not efficient. I bought it with great expectations and after extensive research convinced of it being value for money, and it's definitely not worth the money. seriously overpriced. for some more money it's better to get a Canada Goose.
