I had to send the original pants back as I have lost weight and was unable to guess my size. The smaller pants look very trim and are great for hiking in an area where there are many ticks.

These pants are perfect for spring and summer. They are light weight, cool and comfortable. The quality is top notch. My only complaint is - I wish they came in more colors! 5 stars for sure!

I have not had these pants long enough to comment on how long the insect repellent lasts, but so far, so good. They look decent and are lightweight. As other reviews have stated, the material is a thin nylon (like a tent) and the size ran small. I had to return and order one size up. Now they fit nicely on my waist and hips, and the inseam is comfortable. I will be buying more.

I bought these recently to replace a pair of ex officio hiking pants that (as I thought) had lost their bug-proofing over the years. They are very good pants for walks in the woods--they don't slide down to my hips as the other pants did, they allow freedom of movement and the pockets are useful. But--
Here's what I learned. Like my old hiking pants, these are treated with permethrin. It is very useful against ticks, which is why I bought them. But it is NOT a repellent. It's an insecticide. Thus, as you can see from the picture below, it will do nothing against determined black flies. And the black flies in southern New England and downstate NY are very determined this year!
They are good pants. I'm not sorry I bought them. But you must use a repellent with them; they won't keep all the bugs off by themselves.

I am apple shaped (more belly than legs and bottom) and these just didn't fit right for me. I love the No Fly Zone shirt I bought last year and wanted a pair of pants to keep all the bugs away. No go, the seat and thighs were very large on me and the waist was snug and cutting. I could have worn them but certainly not comfortably. I love LL Bean but a lot of their pants/jeans/shorts are built for the hourglass lady, not the apple-y lady.

Nice quality lightweight pants that fit true to size. The insect repellant seems to work well. Good size pockets. I would have preferred a slightly more fitted leg - these are straight leg, exactly as described - but a slightly fitted ankle would look better and keep plants and insects off.

Favorite fit isn't my favorite but I can make it work. Good construction, and if they can help keep me from looking like a loaded no-pest strip after a hike they will be worth it.

These pants are comfortable and so far seem effective at warding off ticks. They could use deeper pockets and another zip pocket.

I bought these a year ago and refrained from reviewing until I could give an honest assessment. I live in Eastern NC on the water. Lots of ticks, mosquitoes and black flies and other biting insects. I bought a shirt and pants which seemed to be great before the first wash. Afterward, not so much. I'm three washings in as I do not wear them often. I had hoped these would allow me to walk my dogs in peace, but I watched a mosquito munch my thigh through the pants completely undeterred. Its friends apparently joined in because I had more bites when I returned to the house. I gave them 3 stars for comfort only.

Check the size chart - I had to order 2-3 sizes up to get the right fit, these run super small compared to other brands.

Good pants and it's very nice to have them pre-treated and not have to soak in permethrin every month. But I sure wish you'd bring back the cargo pants with the extra pockets and the elastic at the bottom. I need more pockets! The elastic was great for hiking. (Or make the mountain pants in an insect shield version!)

I bought the same pants for my husband. I was disappointed that the women's version is missing the side thigh pockets, and the other pockets were significantly smaller than the men's. The difference was not due to small vs large size. Luckily, I was able to order a men's size that works for me. Women with a more defined waist will be out of luck. Women typically carry more "stuff" than men. Why scrimp on their pockets?

Very disappointed that these pants were just a little too tight in the waist. I already had a pair of these pants in a different color that I bought a few years ago & the older pair fits me perfectly. I would not have bought these if I knew they would be sized smaller. I don't want to pay for return shipping, so I am keeping them with hopes I will lose a few pounds. No longer feel comfortable buying pants online from LLBean. I bought size 10 in the gray color, I'm 5'6 & 142 lbs.

I wear 4, maybe a 6 in designer name work pants, returning the 4&6 to try an 8. need these for a specific trip. Still might not be great as mid rise is bordering on wedgie+low rise so it may not be possible to sit comfortably in these. And I have a pretty small butt.
In normal pants I'm solidly a regular inseam. I definitely can't tuck the regular length into socks so need the M/T for this adventure.

I ordered a pair of these a few years ago and then ordered this new pair expecting them to be the same. The waist is slightly tighter and the inseam is a good 1 inch shorter than my prior pair. I'm tall so that is not good. If you prefer your pants shorter then it might work for you.

I bought my normal size 8 and it was too big in the waist. Even if I went down a size I thought the fit was too baggy.

The waste fit. The cut of thighs was extremely loose, knee fitted and then was a boot cut. Didn't fit my body.

I have a pair of LL Bean pants similar to these, but discontinued. Loved them, quick drying, light colored for tick season. These are size 2 regular. I'm 5'3, 109. I could do with a 0.
