I like the color and quality of the jacket; however, I was disappointed in the style. It has a shirt-tail hem instead of straight (as the "old" style had) and diagonal pockets instead of the horizontal flap pockets. I very much prefer the former style. This current style is much more casual. Not as stylish or sharp.

I like the style of this jacket, but the material is thinner than I expected and needed ironing before wearing. I anticipate that it will require ironing after washing, as well. I have other jackets in stretchy materials that don't need the extra care. I like the colors that are available and thought I would be purchasing this item in other colors, but I'm very disappointed in the quality of the fabric especially considering the price of the item of over $100. I think I may choose dry cleaning to keep the jacket crisp-looking, but increases the expense of owning it.

This item was changed from previous version but not for the better.
Material is nice, but find no lining a deal breaker.

Quality materials and well made. It's just a little bulky for me. I was going to keep it anyway but the collar area does something I can't deal with. Constantly in my face. The search continues

Loved the jacket, wore it all the time. Purchased 2 years ago and snaps no longer work. The rest of the jacket could live on but I don't want to have to zip it up all the way all the time, that's why I got a jacket with this option. If you think a good jacket should only last about 2 years then ok, only I expected more from the Bean.

I wanted a light weight coat without a hood for non rainy, cool but not cold days traveling and around home but am returning this. The size was good but the coat itself is very utilitarian looking and not very attractive, especially in the gray.

I received a Utility Jacket for Christmas in 2021 and I love it. I live in Florida yet have lived in the gift jacket each winter. I was thrilled to see it on sale - or so I thought. I bought this jacket in the navy blue. First, the other jacket is 97% cotton, 3% spandex. THIS jacket is 99% cotton, 1% spandex. You would think this is a good thing, but the jacket is heavier and stiffer (probably too hot for Florida winters),It is not nearly as soft as the previous jacket. The pockets are not the same (no flap or snaps on lower), and the sleeves are about two inches too long and are tighter around the upper arm. I wear it over a t-shirt and it feels snug. Lastly, it is straight cut bottom in the front, shirt tail bottom in the back. Maybe that's good for watching a game on the bleachers up north, but it doesn't look good; too tunic length in the back and unflattering. Please bring back the previous versions. The quality of jacket is well made.

Kind of like it, but the shirttail hem is off-putting. It causes the jacket the flare out which makes the bottom look wider and not attractive. Not sure whether I will return it or sew some of the shirttail gap shut. The 1X it is a bit long.

I love the cut and style of this jacket, however, the blue dye bled onto my pants, a brand new leather pocket book, and watchband, and won't come out.

It's a well made and nicely styled jacket but even unlined it's heavier than I need. I also found the fabric too stiff for my comfort. I have the same jacket with a flannel lining which is a much softer material in green.

I liked the material used in my old one that Bean made a few years ago. It was lighter and did not wrinkle.

Not a flattering cut on the bottom. It is rounded at the bottom side seams and accentuates the rear view. Many of us would prefer to minimize that view.

Nice styling and details IF you think "military" is your style. Fabric is a bit stiff, will probably soften with washing (I hope). Rust color is nice, not too orangery.
I wanted it to layer over sweaters so I ordered a large. I'm glad I did. I'm 5ft. 120lbs. And most smalls and mediums fit me but being cotton I knew this jacket would not "give" so chose large. It does have a drawstring to cinch in the waist if I want to wear it over a thin shirt.

I had one of these jackets for years and loved it. The shape of the jacket was great. Now? Not so much. From the chest down, it fits wonderfully. In the shoulders and arms it's weirdly shaped.

I purchased this jacket for my wife as part of her Christmas present. I really didn't think she was going to like it, but surprisingly she really did. It ran a bit big, so we exchanged it for a smaller size.

The fit was cute, but I was looking for something a bit warmer and preferably with a bit of water resistance, so I sent it back. It would provide a thin layer appropriate for a cool day, but no real insulation. I also thought it would look odd with jeans, as it is basically the same color as denim. I would prefer a darker navy to avoid the monochromatic look.

I have a number of these utility jackets from previous years. I decided to order another in a color I liked and was surprised to find that they are now made in a longer length. The older ones were great. This length is just awkward looking, and it's a shame because the rest of the jacket is great..

I was very pleased with this jacket when I opened the package. The fabric was a nice weight and I liked the zipper/snap closure. However, when I tried it on and pulled the drawcord at the waist to give it a little shape I discovered that the waist hit about 3 inches above my waist! It was uncomfortable and looked bad. I returned it.

New design from last year is very different. Blue color is lighter for my July 2023 purchase. My old blue utility jacket was a better, more flattering cut and a deeper navy blue, which I liked much more. Of course the quality is excellent but disappointed that the design was changed and the color is not as vibrant a blue as previous design. The cut is a little longer which is also unnecessary. I wish it didn't change. I kept it for lack of a better option.

Well made and quality materials. The arms are way too long so I need to have them shortened about 3 inches! Not made for curvy women.

Constricted fit. Had hoped to wear layers under it but it was too rigid. Returned.

Loved the look and many pockets, but the fabric was too heavy for a warm climate.

I thought the jacket would be softer than it was and the sleeves were five inches too long.
