I've been running in Hokas for years, but wanted a dedicated pair for walking. I decided to try these for the cushioning and stability and purchased a size 8 Regular. I tried to like them for a few months but I give up. The toe box is so wide it looks like duck feet, and I literally tripped over my own feet walking in them.

Though these shoes were super comfortable for a while, after using them for 6 months the inner lining of the heel began to tear. After just over a year of use, the inside was so ripped up the foam was coming out and the hard shell lining was poking through to my ankle. Apparently this was a big problem with the Gaviota, Clifton and bondi shoe materials. They have since claimed they updated the material and I just got a new pair of Clifton's to see if this holds true. For the price of this shoe they should withstand walking & lifting in them for more than 6 months without ripping.

I have the Mach 5 Hokas and love them. I tried to mix up the design by buying these in blue. There is a HUGE difference in sizing between the two styles. Even though I ordered the medium width, these were still VERY wide, especially in the toe box. I felt like my foot was moving around way too much and they almost felt like clown shoes since they were snug in the back and loose in the front. If you are looking for a wide toebox, these might be for you, but I found them to be very disproportionate. I also didn't like how the blue waves were all over the shoe. I thought it would just be the lighting but it's an unusual pattern throughout.

I have a pair of Clifton 9s that are very bouncy, which I liked, but they bruised my toes and now have a hole in the stripe on the upper after only 4 months of wear. I have arthritis in my big toe joints and plantar fasciitis. I tried Gaviota 5 and knew they were not going to work. The front is so WIDE and the fabric is not supportive at all, just a stretchy mesh. These are stability shoes but they would aggravate the arthritis by not holding my foot still. I could also feel the bar in the arch, and they are not very bouncy. It took 5 minutes on my feet and back they went into the box. Nope. I think I will go back to Bondi.

These were painful on the bottom under my right foot. The toe box and top half of the shoe (if looking directly down at it) were very wide which is fabulous for me because I have bunions and really wide feet, but I couldn’t get past the painful feeling on the bottom - maybe whatever is used to give these optimal stability is too hard.

I have owned multiple Hoka trainers over the last few years. I am a huge fan. I wanted to love the Gaviota 5. The shoe has the same stability and support, but the foot bed has changed from the Gaviota 4. It seems that the difference is the heel-toe has changed from 5.00 (G4) to 6.00 (G5). For me it made it painful to run. It felt like a small stick between my foot arch and the shoe bed. I tried them for a day to see if my brain could adjust to the new feel. The discomfort did not improve I returned them.

Unfortunately, the loop on the back of my shoes broke the first time I put them on.

Way too big in the toe box! My toes were sliding around even with the laces pulled tight. The middle of the foot is fine but the toe box feels a whole size bigger. This was a regular B width, I can’t even imagine what a wide is. What a disappointment.

Do not like them. Had bondi 7 and loved them in fact I had 2 pair went to buy again. Was talked into these -more stability he said. And besides I think the 8 are ugly I know they are only footwear but still- they wore out quicker, very wise toe area, couldn't clean them like I did the others, too expensive

I was so excited to try out the Gravitas line but it didn't work out for me. First, the shoes run 1/2 size bigger. After standing over 8 hrs my heals were in so much pain. The Bondi line are awesome and I have 2 pairs so was very disappointed when the Gravitas didn't provide the same cushion. One thing that I appreciate with HOKA is their return policy. I tried the shoes for a week and it didn't work out they still gave me my full refund. Thank you HOKA!

Shoe did not fit my foot well. Too wide and not enough padding. I will not be ordering again. Trying on shoes works better for me.

My doctor referred me to your company for wider shoes with good support. I contacted a representative who helped me pick the right shoe. Unfortunately, the shoe threw my knee out of wack. So, I had to return the shoes. From fitting, the shoe was comfortable and looked well made. Sorry I could go no further with wearing them. Sizing was true to fit. I am sure it would do well for someone without flat feet.

The toe bed of the Gaviota 5 looks and feels unusually wide in the regular width. Hokas are already bigger and clunkier looking so I'm not sure why they were redesigned to be even wider/roomier. I returned.

I bought these shoes because I've heard so much about how comfortable they are and I have plantar fasciitis and my feet hurt a lot so I wanted to give them a try. Unfortunately the outer side of my right foot hurts and goes numb after wearing these shoes for a while which doesn't happen with other shoes so I can't really wear them comfortably. Since I've already worn them a few times I won't be able to return them but I wouldn't buy them again

The sneaker has the same comfort but is too wide in the toe and flat foot area. Makes me feel clumsy when I walk.

I was so looking forward to getting these shoes for the support and comfort for my vacation! I received these shoes five days before my trip! I wore them each day before I left in case they needed "break-in" time! Around my house and daily activities, I had no problem! However, the 2nd day of vacation that involved 4-6 miles a day of walking, I had extreme foot problems. They included: burning across my entire feet, a throbbing in my forefoot, with a blister on my right foot! I am so disappointed! I expected more cushion in all areas!

I needed a wide foot bed, as prescribed by my physical therapist. This foot bed is actually too wide, and appears to be clown shoes. My husband took one look at them and said, "well, you will obviously wear these with slacks, right?" And he never criticizes anything I wear. So sorry, the color scheme was perfect and the shoes to NOT BEND, which is a feature I was looking for. Exchanged for the Rincon 3. Lighter and much better fit.

I have worn the Gaviato for years and love them. However, this version is no-go for me. First, the toe box is so wide that the shoes look ridiculous (at least to me - think clown shoes). The other problem is the stability. Something has changed and I found myself pronating in them. Kudos though, to the cushioning, which is great. However, that was not enough to offset the stability issue. Back they went.
