These sneakers are still squeaky after almost 6 months. And the toe area is so big they feel like clown shoes.

The toe box is so huge that they look like clown shoes. The toe box is way out of proportion to the shoe, making the shoe look very unattractive on the feet.

The toe box is way tooooooo wide, even on the regular width. My feet are actually getting sore from moving side to side. From middle back ok, but just too wide.

Purchased these for working at an indoor range where I stand on concrete for upwards of 12 hours a day. I only work 1-2 days a week and the toe of these shoes have started to come unglued and the fabric has a hole at the toe. While they were great to wear, for the amount of money I am really disappointed in the quality.

Unfortunately the shoes hurt my feet the moment I put them on. The color and material were great looking.

I'm not an avid exercise person, I don't punish these shoes, but they're so worn down that my ankles are hurting. I don't know if the H frame collapsed or what, but my feet overpronate more and the soles are literally peeling apart. I walk from my home to the bus, from the bus to my job and back again. Each leg of the trip is 10 minutes, so 40 minutes in total 5 days a week, and I got them at the beginning of April. I walk on pavement, tile, and carpet, there's no reason these should be so worn down. Incredibly disappointed for the price.

I have plantar fasciitis and I purchased this sneakers because of the extra support. Wore it a few times and not helping. Very painful.

I loved the Gaviota 4. The 5 is much wider such that arch and heel support are lost. It feels like there is less cushion in the heel, and it made my weight shift back such that I did not feel as stable. I think Hoka went in the wrong direction with this model.

I'm a nurse that has worn nothing but Hoka Gaviotas for the last 3 years, but the 5 is a completely different shoe than the previous version. The toe box is so wide that the already clunky shoes look like clown shoes. And the my size 8 4s are at least an inch smaller in length than the new 5s. Terribly, horribly disappointed, as now I have to find a new go-to work shoe.

Not comfortable at all. Not what I expected. I have had Clifton 9 so I was contemplating ordering those next. However, after reading many reviews of the re-design, I will not be reordering. I am really disappointed as I absolutely LOVED my Clifton 9’s from 2 years ago

These shoes are SO wide in the toe box! My feet run a little on the narrow side and they swim in these shoes. Plus they look extremely wide. My husband said they look like clown shoes lol.

I really wanted to like these Hoka's, but they were not wide enough with my full length orthotics. I like that the footbeds were removable. I wish they made an EE like Brooks. Thank you Zappos for your generous return policy!

Very uncomfortable walking long distances. Very different than the Gaviota 4. I had to purchase a different brand of shoe.

As soon as I discovered the Gaviotas I was in love! I have very high arches and really need stability shoes when I walk (a few miles a day) otherwise I get really bad heel, knee, and hip pain. I love love love the Gaviota 4s and have a couple pairs. I've had the 5s for a few weeks and they have an extremely wide toe bed (which I don't hate, but probably should've sized down. I'm a 8.5 wide in the Gaviotas), but the soles of the 5s are already wearing and they do not feel like stability shoes at all. My feet really hurt after about 45 mins of walking- especially the bottoms of my heels. I DO like the new back and the shoe laces, but overall I would not recommend these if you've liked previous versions. I will be looking into different stability shoes as a result. Hoka, please return to the previous model!!

These are my third pair of Hokas but they're going back. My feet are wide enough that I usually order a wide if it's available, but these look like clown shoes on and my other two (same size and width) do not.

I find that Hoka shoes are getting bigger with each new model. I love the comfort, but Gaviota 5 feels like wearing small boats on your feet. They look and feel too bulky!

I previously owned a pair of the Gaviota 4 (wide), and they were PERFECT for me! So I decided to buy a pair of the Gaviota 5s (also wide) to replace my 4s. Huuuge mistake. Reasonably, I thought the 5s would be almost identical to the 4s, but they're really a COMPLETELY different shoe. I wore a size 9 in the 4, but the same size is wayyy too big on the 5s. Also, the 5 wide is for some reason really narrow in the middle of the shoe but super wide in the toe box? And has a painful arch in the middle? It makes walking uncomfortable quite quickly. (My 4s made me feel like I could never get tired in them!) Unfortunately, I regret buying this product and don't recommend it to anyone. I really wanted to like them! (I bought them about 6 months ago and have been wearing them since. But I often opt to wear my beat up Gaviota 4s sometimes since I know those will be more comfortable than these 5s)

Width was better than some of the other Hokas, but insole was sharp, digging in the sides of my feet, so I returned.

The Gaviota 4 was perfect and I'm not sure why HOKA felt the need to change. The Gaviota 5 is not an improvement and is a long step back. The fit is off and the shoe is too wide. I normally wear a wide but I tried a regular once I read other reviews and even a regular is far too wide. I sent the pair back and will not try the Gaviota 5 again. Bring back the Gaviota 4 and relabel it as Gaviota 6.
