`I am a 50 year old occasional hiker who hasn't had a new pack since college. Just spent 3 days hiking in the Catskills with this pack on my back for 7-8 hours a day and I love it. Plenty of space and super comfortable. I barely noticed I was even carrying a pack, had zero shoulder or back strain, and like the frame that allows for some airflow through the back area - a big plus hiking in 80+ degree weather. Never had to use the internal rainfly, but that was definitely a selling point for me. Highly recommend!

I love this pack. I bought it to replace an older osprey pack that I completely wore out. I love the rigid stays on this backpack so that it sits upright when you put it on the ground and the air pocket helps keep it much cooler, a total bonus when you're hiking in the hot and humid Smokies.

The Hikelite is my fourthor maybe fifthOsprey pack. I alternate between it and a Scarab. What Id really like is a combination of elements of each of them. The Hikelite has the suspension system (I think thats what you call it) with the net-like material against my back. Supremely comfortable. I like having a built-in rain cover like the Hikelite has. What the Scarab offers is an array of separate compartments, an arrangement I find more convenient than the Hikelites single compartment. I also like the Scarabs magnet for holding the mouthpiece so it doesnt flop around like the Hikelites does. Also the Scarabs arrangement for holding the reservoir is easier to use than the Hikelites.

The Hikelite 28 has changed hiking for me forever. I've had numerous packs of various brands over the years and thought they were all "fine." I',e also had 2 major spine surgeries and have permanent spinal hardware. I bought this pack after trying a friend's and can honestly say it's changed by life. Nothing rubs or dogs and my entire pack load is suspended in a way that is so much kore comfortable by entire hiking posture is improved. Additionally, the pack doesn't bounce or bump on my hardware and the hip belt doesn't rub on incision scars as other packs have done. THANK YOU!
