I have a couple pair of Ariat cowboy boots in a size 8.5. I bought these in a size 8.5 and although they felt a bit stiff to begin with, i wore them all day yesterday and they softened up. In other shoes/boots (Born) i wear a 9 and sometimes a 9.5. Id say Ariat keeps their sizing consistent in all their styles. Which i appreciate.

The boot is very well made and comfortable. The only drawback would be that the shaft of the boot hits right above the ankle at the back of the leg and does rub when walking just around the house for a short time. I think it would be a must to wear socks that would cover the skin in that area, or your leg may be rubbed raw. The pair I received had a strange stain on the right outside elastic gore that was very noticeable from every view, and small scratches on the leather strip directly below the gore. I don't know what it is from, but it did not look like something that would come out with treatment. I was offered a discount to keep the boots due to no more stock in my size, but I am returning them rather than take the discount. The stain is too noticeable.

These are beautiful in the chestnut color. Sleek everyday shoes. Any Ariat boot that doesn't have zippers fits a bit loose in the heel for me. But I get used to it. Or I wear ballet bar grippy socks. That said, my feet are pretty narrow. And the look / value of the boot makes it worth it.
