I spend a lot of time on trails and the Ultra Glide has been one of my favorite pairs of trainers. And the Ultra Glide 2 are even better! I wear them on plenty of easy runs and on long runs as well. They're solid on any terrain while still feeling light for a trainer, which I love. And the cushion does a great job of keeping my feet feeling healthy and happy.

I have had these shoes for about a month now and am pleasantly surprised with how comfortable and versatile the shoe is. Whether it is long road runs, sandy or rocky trails, or soft mud. These are my go to chill run shoes.

The Ultra Glide has been my go-to since it came out. The 2s seem to be lightly roomier. The same size worked for me, I just have to tighten them a bit more. The upper seems a bit more breathable too, which is nice. I still use it as my usual trainer and still really enjoy running in them.

I might have to look for a new trail running shoe company. I always go Salomon so the poor craftsmanship of this shoe surprised me.
After my second trail run in these the seams attached to the tongue of the shoe (on both left and right shoes) started to fall apart. The shoe felt good on the trail. Grippy and a little wider than all of my past Salomons. Besides the quality being significantly cheaper than all of my past Salomon shoes it was I enjoyed running on them. They were light and grippy. One other thing is the flap on the tongue to hold the quicklace was loose and wouldn't keep it in place since I had to tighten the wider shoe, so that was a little annoying too.
I was going to wear them for a trail race next month and will definitely not be able to.

The shoes fit well but I really don’t like the lacing system. They have a pull cord that is really long, so you then have to roll it up and store in the “ laces garage”. Also the laces are really thin and they restrict the opening into the shoe. What a pain. Sending back

Salomon has 2 styles of Ultra Glide 2. One is specified with GORE-TEX as waterproof and has GORE-TEX printed on the front of the shoe. This pair did not have GORE-TEX printed and so can't be the waterproof version, despite what the description said.

I am using these for running UK ultras - so all conditions from hard-packed trails to muddy bog. They are comfortable over long distances, great support and a good hold of the foot. Lightweight which as a light older runner I really appreciate. Grip underfoot is medium - not the grippiest but a good compromise between aggressive and none at all for most conditions. I wouldn't take on the hardest Scottish rock/bog combo maybe but doing fine on the South West Coast Path. The but is that they have an elastic grip around the upper which helps that good foot hold but creates a little pocket down either side of the foot which fills up with grit, seeds, dust and anything else that comes my way. An overgrown path or a sandy trail result in shoes full of crud and the only way to clear it is to take off the shoe and remove the insole completely. This one significant defect is making me very hesitant to use them for the races for which I bought them, which is a real shame. If I can find gaiters that will really keep out the bits then I think they could be a great shoe.

I bought the ultra glide 2 shoes about 6 weeks ago and I have already wore through the treads. It normally takes 4 to 6 months of daily use for me to wear out my shoes... this is very disappointing.
