Hours spent in the rain wind and cold at a Morgan State Football Game the jacket kept my t shirt dry throughout confirmed in the bathroom at halftime and when I got home. Definitely windproof cause it was windy and chilly. The shell absorbs water doesn't repel. The inner shell keeps you dry. The inner pockets were damp I suppose from my body heat. My cellphone was damp as well. The hood will keep your head dry. Inclement weather wear something warm beneath the jacket. I suffered entire game with just a t shirt. I'd recommend further research on rain jackets to a friend before buying this one

Great fit and the colors were nice. Smaller pit zips than I'm used to

This is probably the fifth shell I have purchased from North Face and once again I am completely satisfied with the quality material and construction. The slight stretch in the material makes for a very functional and comfortable outer layer for my morning bike commute.

I couldn't be happier with this jacket. I had one that was similar about five years ago, but upgraded to this one because it was the closest in material, etc., but as it turned out the jacket had been improved upon significantly. My older jacket had more of a stretch feel to it, whereas this one is does not hug as much and definitely just shrugs off water even better. I am typically a large, but in this case I went a size down and it was a perfect fit

I needed a good light jacket to use in the spring in fall that would block the wind and rain. This one met those requirements, is comfortable, and looks great.

It fits well, has been waterproof so far and has a hood that fits well over a billed hat. I also like the way it looks

I ordered this for my son and love it, but it's too wide/spacious at the bottom for his narrow frame.

Really loving this jacket for this oddly rainy SoCal winter. The fit is true to size, good pockets and the hood has a good all around fit. I have one tiny concern about some stitching around the chest area that attaches the zipper, but I'm sure it will be fine.

This was purchased for a trip to the UK and IR where the weather can switch rapidly and I wanted a lightweight outer layer to go over my sweater or nano puff when the rains came and which I could tuck into a pack or shoulder bag if not needed. Went for my first walk in a Calgary drizzle, not heavy rain. Perhaps my expectations were too high but the outside didn't shed well at all and I started to feel damp about an hour into the walk. Got back home and the outside was soaked and the inside was a bit damp - a bit hard to tell when the jacket came off, it could have been a combo of seep through and breathability. However I hung the jacket up and 2 hours later the outside it is still soaking wet outside. For short showers it may work well but for heavy or extended rains it won't keep you dry. It did seem wind proof and the underarm vents are nice. I suspect that with rain jackets as with many other type of gear you have three variables - cost/weight & durability or a similar characteristic ie water resistance. You can only have two out of three. In the case cost and weight/pack ability is good but don't expect waterproof. So you really have to know what you want this for as this isn't waterproof over extended time or really heavy weather.

I bought this jacket at sports basement in the "rain gear" section for a trip this week with rain forecast. Today, I was sorely disappointed that the jacket is not waterproof, as rain soaked me.

Sizes run big. I returned it, but even after a month have yet to be refunded.

So disappointed in this jacket. My 8 year old venture out performs it in every aspect, except "stretch" - something that's neither required or demanded from a rain shell. "Fully waterproof" is a lie, the material will wet out quickly leaving you saturated, and unless stationary with a strong breeze this jacket will stay wet the rest of your trek/trip/anything. My previous north face shells performed exactly as described and this jacket can only handle heavy rain if you're heading from your lobby to an uber, for anything else - reduce your expectations extremely. To market this as fully waterproof while considering its actual performance feels like blatant over exaggeration
. It's a lie, it doesn't function as advertised, performs poorly, and it's only redeeming quality is it looks good (subjective). I would thoroughly recommend to friends, family, enemies.... to look for a better jacket to stay dry than this. I was happy with the product until I put it through it's paces and by then it was too late to return and do anything other than reluctantly accept as a mild shell i trust less then a nylon windbreaker. I am lost how this can be considered a fully waterproof rainjacket.

Total disappointment. Keeps the water, becomes heavy, and your laundry becomes all wet.
