largely because of the lacing system, it is difficult to tighten without crimpling the tongue... as a result the show flops at the heel cup.... returned these immediately may fit better with people who have large ankles but certainly not the average foot shape

I bought these to slip on when I take my dog out for his last walk of the night. Unfortunately, they are NOT good if you are walking on uneven surfaces. I have only fallen twice in the last two years and both times I was wearing these shoes. I am an early 40s, active, healthy woman with good balance. Again, I am not someone who falls down very often! These shoes are simply not very stable shoes, especially on hard or sloped surfaces.

Not true to size. Extremely aggravating. Need to order at least two sizes smaller than actual shoe size

I've had this rubber moc before, loved it and ordered it again a couple of years ago, based on recommended sizing, as it would have been a perfect barn boot. It may be that it's too large and sloppy or that the heel tread is too narrow, or a combination of those two things, but several times the shoe has become unstable on rough ground and almost caused me to sprain an ankle. It seems there's not enough support on the heel to keep my whole foot from wobbling. These shoes are probably headed to a thrift shop.

I really wanted to love these mocs, looking for a high quality USA made product. I paid attention to the sizing guide prior to ordering, and so, yes, the fit lengthwise/in the toe box worked for me. But the shoe shank is extremely stiff and my feet kept lifting out of the heels anyway. Also the shoe is too wide on the sides, even with thick socks as suggested. I do not have narrow feet so this was a surprise. I tried tightening the laces but that didn't make much difference. Sorry I had to return.

The shoes were too tight and not comfortable. I did not like how it tied together. I had to return them.

These little boots are cute alright but so uncomfortable and the heel is so wide my foot half came out with each step. No good way to adjust them either. My foot is medium width and I bought a size down as recommended and this was the right size. I liked just slipping them on and the rubber bottoms are great in wet grass but I can't really walk in them. I have to return them.

It's a good shoe but you have to choose a size that is rounded and mine ended up much too big. I am worried that if I return it for the lower size it will end up too small. I don't know what to do because I guess this will work with extra socks but I was hoping for something to slip on to walk outside with my dogs and I don't usually wear two pairs of socks.

the sizing made it impossible. I am a true 9 so ordered an 8 as suggested on the website, but the shoe was still a bit too big even with heavy socks. I would have tried the 7 but would have accrued a return fee and possibly a second return fee if the shoe still did not fit. As it stands now they are deducting shipping from my return which kinda stinks considering their wacky sizing is to blame. I recommend going to a store to purchase.

Love these shoes - wanted these shoes and needed them. They appear to be made well and are even attractive. With the advisement to order a full size down from normal, I did and ordered a 7AA instead of 8AA (which begs the question - why mass produce a product so far off of standard?). Even the full size down was still far too large to wear, so I ordered yet another full size down, as LL Bean does not offer half sizes, at least in this shoe. Naturally, the replacement was a bit too small, so another return. All very frustrating when they should be using standard shoe sizes instead of making do with an obvious mistake.

I purchased & wear a size 8 in the 8" LL Bean Boot so logically assumed that the size would be comparable for these LL Bean Boot moccasins. The size 8 is huge - at least one size too wide and too long.
While sending them back to exchange for a smaller size is a minor hassle, being charged $6.50 to return them is unacceptable in my opinion. Especially considering the number of people who have had this same issue with sizing.
My original order was placed quickly & using my smartphone so I didn't take the time to read through the reviews where I see now that many have had the same experience.

I was excited to see these as they were just what I was looking for. I had read other reviews and ordered a size up but when they came they were still too big and I had to return them. As they were so off the wall with the sizing, I didn't want to take the chance and order another size only to have to return them again I would think llbean would address this concern as so many reviewers have pointed out the sizing issue. Because of the quality of the workmanship, which was good, I'm giving them 2 stars instead of one.

I wanted to love everything about these mocs and was thrilled that they come in narrow! But it is as if the narrow only applies to the front of the shoe - the back slips on and off like a clog (as others have reported). I had to return them because even with thick socks, they would not stay on my feet. I am hoping LLBean modifies the style in the future so that I can buy them again and keep them. It would also be helpful to offer half-sizes, as the 7 was a bit short and the 8 too big. If they could get the sizing right, I'd probably buy multiple pairs because they are comfortable and perfect in every other way.

I ordered these for a Christmas gift. The description states they are sized for heavy socks. Why? This creates problems such as how heavy and how much smaller size for standard socks. Size the to the established sizes and let the customer decide how much larger they need. I ordered one size smaller and they are still too big.
I sent them back, they were not processed for more than a week after they arrived at the LL Bean facility. I was then informed they would not be in stock till January 29. Just received an email today (January 18) they're going to be on back order even longer!
The reason people shop at stores such as this is Quality and Customer Service. The quality seems to be fine but this is a customer service nightmare. Especially since it's a gift!!
VERY DISAPPOINTING

My wife wears a size 9 to 9.5. LL Bean makes these boots only in whole sizes so when I ordered a 9 I was concerned that it would be too small. But even with heavy socks it was way too big. So we returned it for exchange several days ago. We still haven't received confirmation. Also, in order to enter this "rating" I have to log in. Why? So LLBean could lengthen its list of ad recipients? Too crass for me!

Because they don't have 1/2 sizes I ordered my size. This was way to large. Sent the those back, then ordered a size smaller, they are too big too. I am keeping them. I don't want to pay to return them again. I will put extra socks on to fill in the extra room. These boots are at least 1 size too big, if not 1 1/2 size to large.

I have the bean boot 8 inch lace up and loved it so much ordered the slip on moc - NEVER have I had a problem with a shoe being so wide in the heel that taking a step left the heel of the shoe on the floor. I will have to return these as they are way too wide in the heel of the foot. Size ordered was correct size.

My old mocs were a half size. But now half sizes are not available. I chose to go up a size than down. The length was fine, but even though I ordered narrows, my mocs were still way to wide. I cinched them as tightly as I could and now they look silly. I am in Canada and it is just too bothersome to pay extra to return, reorder, try again......to what? Pay extra to return, reorder, and try again? I was very disappointed in my purchase.

I really wanted to love these mocs right out of the box, but the sizing on these are absolutely terrible. I usually wear size 8.5 regulars (but anywhere from 8-9.5 in reality), and so I religiously read all of the previous reviews, searched the internet, and watched the videos to properly size them and ended up ordering the size 7s (1.5 down). They seemed like they fit, with a loose heel so I wore them for a few days and ended up in so much pain I actually dreaded having to walk the 5 minutes to the bus every day. The loose heel caused my foot to slide out with each step and also pushed my toes forward, pinching the inside bone near my big toe. It felt like trying to keep heavy flip flops on my feet. This was with wearing thin socks, heavy socks, super heavy alpaca boot socks, and all three in combination, so it wasn't for lack of trying.
After calling customer service, they recommended ordering another size down to 6 medium(surprisingly, since they already felt too small in the toes). After two weeks of constant, somewhat sore wear, these shoes have finally broken in to where I feel like they'll work out. The heel is still a bit loose, but more like a slip-on style shoe. My toes pinched at first but that is going away as the shoe has loosened up. I think it takes time for the stiff rubber duck bill to loosen up and mold to your toes. But it's crazy to expect a customer to go through all that just because you don't want to provide normal sizing!
The only reason I kept them is that they are very functional, with the duck bill and complete waterproofing. The most important feature for me is that they don't get salt stains, meaning I don't have to do any maintenance on them. I'm able to walk through 3-4 inches of snow and keep my feet dry. I can't fit my really heavy socks in them yet, though so if I'm tramping through snow consistently my feet eventually start to freeze. These should be great for spring rainy weather.
All in all, I can't really recommend these to anyone without huge reservations. I don't think the sizing issues were in any way my fault, but I still had to pay the shipping fee to exchange them even after asking for an exception politely, which I found pretty unfair. Usually I'm LLBean's biggest fan, but I don't really feel like that right now. The one nice feature with customer service is that they had no problem with the return, even after I had worn the first pair for 4 days. Most companies wouldn't do a return after wearing the shoes.
Finally, I bought the brown/brown pair and the color is simple and classic and doesn't immediately stand out as much as the more popular tan/brown boots that everyone has on right now, so I don't match every other person I see.

I'm still trying to decide if I am keeping them or not. I usually wear a size 9 but had to return, finally, a size 7 almost fits, but is still too small. They are quite uncomfortable and awkard.

After reading several reviews, I ordered one size smaller than usual. Fits okay except the heel, which is still proportionally large, even with thick socks, and flops when I walk. I'll have to return them.

These are very cute, comfy (though heavy) - but the run HUGE. I ordered a full size smaller than my normal and they were still too big.
I pulled the leather tie a bit to see if it narrowed the shoe and it snapped right off.
I had to return them.

I love the style of this shoe and wanted them to work out but after ordering two sizes I had to return both.
I ordered my normal size, the heel slipped, they were a little long. I ordered next size down, they were too short and the heel still slipped. I couldn't make either one work by adjusting the leather laces or by using different insoles or socks. They are very stiff which I wasn't too worried about. The heel slipping was the big issue.
A friend has had a pair of these that has lasted (she says) for 20 years and she loves them. Sadly, they don't work for me.
