It is thin. More suitable for temps in the 40s. Definitely need a heavy thigh length second layer if temps are in the 30s. The fleece lining makes it more challenging to put the coat on and off with a second layer.
Coat is tailored nicely, zipper works two ways, and the blue has received compliments by passersby.

Love the length, love the furry type of fleece throughout body and even in hood! But really dislike that arms and pockets don't have at least some kind of fabric lining. With only nylon in arms and pockets, my arms and hands get cold! Overall, L.L. Bean quality is not what it used to be. For example, I always ordered my husband's shirts here, but no more. Sigh.

I am 5'10". I wear a M. The arm length is about 2" too short. I really wish LL Bean made a tall or long size for women to get the proportions right. The jacket is best for late fall (November) but not for frigid winter temps.

I wanted to love this coat but did not find it to be warm at all. I felt like I wasn't even wearing a jacket.

Usually I love my LL Bean items. The positives: looks pretty and warm; has a hood; has elastic around wrist to keep the cold out. The cons: runs very small; the arms fit me, but I could barely move; very tight around the waist.
I normally can wear a LL Bean 3x with room to spare. I'm so disappointed because I really wanted it to fit.

I have had this jacket for exactly one year and much of the stitching on the outside of the jacket is split and crinkled/fuzzy. It looks like it needs to be lint rolled but the thread is still attached so there isn't anything to do to fix it. Not quite the quality I'm used to for L L Bean.

Purchased the Petite Large...which was pretty accurate. I loved the coat...however, the warmth level should be downgraded from Warmer to Warm. Just isn't quite good enough!
Get rid of the front logo too, please.

Liked the color but the fit wasn't what I expected. The fleece lining made the fit seem tight and the back seams puckered at the waist. Also, I paid over $200 and the attached tag was for $199 with a red sticker marked $149. Something was very wrong so back it went!

fit is okay, not great, but disappointed that they are no longer including an upper zip pocket either outside or inside

For me, this coat is too fitted. I have an apple shape and prefer a relaxed fit. I'm 5'4" and weigh 120 lbs. I ordered a regular small and it was too tight through the body. I hope L.L.Bean will consider making more coats with a relaxed fit which will fit more body types.

I had been eying this coat for a while because I wanted a versatile coat for chilly rainy days. Nice length and slender profile, but for me the medium did not have enough extra space for a warm layer underneath, so it went back. A larger size would be too big overall.

Please make this coat with non-fleece lining!! I love the style and length, but not the
static-y fleece lining!! Thank you!

It isn't very warm. I returned it in favor of a down filled coat.

It didn't have the quality that I usually find in LLBean. I was not impressed. I ordered my normal size, and it was too small. I returned it.

Love the length and the fact it zips from the top and the bottom. Thus, makes driving easier. Like the color too. Not liking the cheap plastic zipper as It has gotten hung up and I have to pull so hard I am afraid it will eventually break. Expensive jacket needs a nicer zipper. It's not super warm but I think it will work great to layer.

I bought this for my daughter but we agreed it looked really sloppy and wrinkled when she put it onalmost like she was wearing an old sleeping bag wrapped around her. Perhaps there was not enough fill in it? We were really surprised.

The coat hangs low in the front and high in the back. At least it is warm.

The "medium" in this coat was far smaller than the "medium" om a prior LL Bean coat. Accordingly, I returned the coat for a full refund.

You need to layer in temps below freezing and it's hard to layer because it's so form fitting.

I have a coat from LL Bean that I've had for 10-15 years, so naturally I went back to LL Bean for an updated one. This coat is so pretty and fit nicely, but it just wasn't warm enough. I live in Tennessee. We get a few really cold days, but nothing a coat in the "warmer" category can't handle. I tried it on and wore it outside for < 5 minutes at 30 outside, and I was already getting chilly. I also didn't like the fact that the pockets didn't have any soft lining like my old coat.

I bought this to be a lighter weight winter coat because LL Bean classifies it as "warmer" in the warm/warmer/warmest rating. It definitely is not warmer, warm at best. I would call it a fall jacket, but it looks like a winter coat so will be odd to put on in September. Fit is odd also, but that part is my fault for not noticing before I took the tags off. Had to size up for the body to fit but the chest is funny.

The zipper is a little hard to operate. I find it's basically on the wrong side from all my other zippers, including some from LL Bean! But otherwise it's a beautiful coat and I look forward to wearing it as long as my previous coat from Bean's, which lasted 11 years and still is quite nice, enough so that I can donate it to our coat drive run by our police officers this winter.

I'm pear shaped and, for me, the coat was too big in the shoulders and too narrow through the hips. I ordered the navy and liked the color.

I bought the coat in medium, black, knowing it had a couple of features that weren't quite right for me, but I'm feeling kind of desperate to find a coat. It fit well, but I decided it wasn't quite right for me after all, and I returned it. There are two reasons - first, the coat is fleece-lined - I've had a fleece-lined L.L.Bean jacket before, and the problem with this for me is that every time I take the coat off, I find pieces of my hair adhering to the fleece, and I need to clean it up. Annoying. The second problem - I really prefer that any winter coat or jacket for daily use have good snaps as well as a zipper. Sometimes I just want to close it up a bit, and quickly using one or two snaps does the job, and looks great. I don't always want to have to reach down, and zip up the whole front, which in some cases can make it too warm, like if I'm waiting in a lobby, about to leave somewhere. L.L.Bean coat and jacket designers, please take note - this is an important winter feature; please design more of your coats and jackets with snaps as well as a good quality zipper.
