Sadly LL bean does not off a soft shell for women. I had the medium version of this jacket which obviously ran big but allowed me to layer. When I upgraded I decided to go with a small, but it was boxy and didn't fit over my hips. This caused the jacket to ride high and with the collar popped it rode to the back of my head.

Decent quality. Sleeve closures not my favorite design. Material type is a little uncomfortable for my tastes. Overall, it's okay. I probably would not purchase a jacket like this again.

The waterproof material feels a little like neoprene, and doesn quite bend like fabric would. Also, because of neoprene-like material, it can sometimes make getting your sleeves through the arms of the jacket a little challenging.

The jacket itself is good quality, but the problem is with the velcro cuffs. They have tabs which are too long, with no velcro on the ends, leading to the inability of putting your hands in the jacket pockets without the tabs catching.

Nice garment but the waist is too loose at bottom and wind comes up to cool the body.

Decent jacket. Not as fitted as I hoped. Material seems to cling a lot.

I really tried to like this jacket but I have problems with the tech material. The first thing is the jacket is a challenge to put on, as the sleeves grab at any fabric you are wearing. You really have to hold on to a long sleeve t shirt so it doesn't bunch up. I think a good jacket should allow better ease of movement without having to stretch the material. The second very bothersome problem is the fabric, inside and out, seems to collect every particle of dust or lint, even grabbing stray hairs. It turns out, I really don't like fleece on the collar next to my skin. Lastly, I tried it out briefly and at 40 degrees, it wasn't very warm as the cool air seemed to penetrate the fabric. Maybe if I drew the hem tight and exercised a bit, I would warm up.

Nice jacket BUT with what a consider a major design issue. When wearing a long sleeve shirt, the shirt sleeves catch on the lining of the jacket in the jacket sleeves and bunch up. It's such an issue and problem, I ended up returning the item and getting jacket item number 500395 that while lined the sleeves are not lined and thus does not have the problem.

The windbreaker cost almost $100 - way overpriced for what it is. It is more flimsy that I had hoped.

In preparation for the Fall season, this jacket was purchased at the time of wearing a short sleeve polo shirt. Since that time, I attempted to wear the jacket over a long-sleeve cotton shirt, which became problematic with the jackets inner material lining. It is not conducive for long-sleeves. Right away thoughts of trying to wear this jacket over a flannel shirt provided the decision to return the purchase to the L.L Bean local store.

Nice jacket but didn't like the Sherpa lining. It makes it difficult to get on and off for my husband.

This coat removes heat from your body. Not recommended for those who want to be warm.

Item TA512679. Have owned this jacket now for a year. I was looking for a mid-season jacket which would be both windproof and some rain repellent. This is a great looking jacket with all the right pockets and YYK zippers .... but: it is not lined nor is it particularly windproof or warm. Every time I try to put it on, I have to hold onto the sleeves of my cotton shirt for dear life. They cling to the fleece inner fabric. This is a difficult jacket to put on and take off. Would not buy again.

This jacket is comfortable but it ran at least 2 sizes too small.

Handsome jacket in appearance, but the polyester feels unexpectedly stiff, not as comfortable to wear as hoped. Have not yet worn it in rain.

The lining sticks to everything. The cut across the shoulders is too small for an XL.

The jacket just came in the mail today. In summary:
- The Saddle color is a lot darker than what the website image leads one to think it will be. It's a lot closer the UPS brown than in the image.
- The size M is big for what a medium generally is. Am not new to LLBean, used to live in Portland would just swing by the Freeport store to get gear. Recently I'd put on 15lbs and hence bean clothes area more forgiving. However, this M is way too big. So would instead opt for Small.
Anyhow figuring out how to return this jacket as its' too big.

About the only thing that remains the same is the price. I would gladly have paid more for the same jackets I purchased over 10 years ago (I have 4). This one's not nearly as good. I don't like the "new" fabric, it's not as soft or heavy. I don't care much for the available colors, or performance. I'll still wear it because, even though it's not warm as the older models, it's still is fine for milder weather. I really wish LL Bean would start listening to people like me.

I have to return it as it won't suit the need. Not sure how it fit as my husband would not try it on due to the fabric. Looks big!

Review for Zappos VIP Points(What's this?)
fit abd size ok but, but, because of the inner line of the sleeve (fleeze?) I found it almost impossible to slid on. Not worth the trouble. They should line it with silk or a pseu-silk

Review for Zappos VIP Points(What's this?)
The fit was not too bad but as with some other LL Bean jackets the sleeves are very difficult to put on OVER a long sleeve shirt. They don't slide on. The fleece, or whatever it is, grips the shirts and it is extremely hard to get on.

Can't get the collars to stay flat, always poking me in the chin/jaw. The collar curls up in the back as well
