Plenty of width in the toes but nowhere near enough toe height for my somewhat turned up big toe. I ended up getting the FuelCell Propel v4 in 7.5 wide.

Pros: wide toe box comfortable w/my bunion. Cons: the tiny crevices in the sole collect dirt, mud, & tiny stones & are terrible at releasing it. If you hit mud or soil, good luck getting the muck out.

I love these shoes. I had to switch from Xeros due to lack of stability. I wanted a stable shoe with wide toe box. I knew these would work as soon as I tried them on. Perfect fit. Perfect stability. BUT I'm going to stop wearing them bc the right shoe squeaks so loudly that it's embarrassing. Literally a guy in the store said "boy, I can hear you coming!" Yeah. So I guess my search continues. At this price point I won't buy another pair to see if I just got a bum pair.

Felt the shoe was beginning strain my leg muscles. There was not enough cushion.
I'd also recommend:

Love the toe box of these shoes. They are by far the most comfortable for my toes walking and running. I’ve been faithful to Asics for years, but needed a change. My only complaint is the arch doesn’t seem supportive enough. I over pronate and I feel my foot collapsing in. I need a more stable shoe.

I found and fell in love with the Altra Provision 6 after my previous running shoe had been discontinued. While they still feel supportive and made well, I am sadly disappointed by the 7s. From the moment I put them on they felt awkward. The "arch" is too far back, so it pushes on the side of my heel bone and feels like a lot more cushion than the 6s. I gave them two tries hoping it would get better once I broke them in - at mile 2 of 5k I felt discomfort on the inside of my foot/ankle and I've been experiencing discomfort/stiffness after 10k. Unfortunately, I took advantage of a sale on another site to buy these before I NEEDED them and cannot return them since it is after 30 days. If you loved the Provision 6s, you might not love these.

Was just too narrow for my foot, my little toe was cramped. The wider toe bed I liked.

I have loved my Altras for several years now. They're absolutely life changing. I can run longer, stay on my feet and active longer without fatigue, foot discomfort, arch discomfort or any knee pain. They're incredible. When I saw these shoes in particular, my favourite colour PURPLE and that they are in every way basically an upgrade from my previous Torins, I was extremely excited to order them. But I noticed right away that they were not designed with the same foot shape (original) as my previous Torins were. I didn't think much of it and ordered them anyway. I am so happy with the way they look, but I'm so sad and bordering frustrated with how uncomfortably narrow they are at midsole. I know they won't last long, they couldn't possibly. My foot actually hurts from how tightly the midsole squeezes. It's a terrible shame because every other aspect of the shoe is perfect. I guess I just have wide feet. If this shoe came exactly how it is, but wide at the midsole. It would be my absolute favourite shoe I've ever owned. Please make this shoe with a WIDE option in exactly this colour scheme with exactly everything else this shoe sports. I started buying altras because they fit my feet best and have changed my life and stamina on my feet and how long I can be active without any discomfort at all. But I don't want to buy men's colours. Please make the womens with a wide midsole option. Please please please! Thank you. I only want altras in my closet!

Unfortunately, I had to return these Provision 7 due to the toe box being too narrow. I am new to the Altra brand and learned about the three different toe box sizes: original (wide), standard (not as wide), and slim. I own a pair of Lone Peak which has the original toe box which is perfect for me, but thought I’d try a standard width with the Provision 7. This toe box width did not work for my wide feet; just too narrow and tight around the ball of my foot. There is definitely a difference between the original and the standard toe boxes—too much for my situation.

Runs small and narrow for an Altra shoe. Sending them back! I do love the purple color, though!

I was looking for a shoe with a wider toe box, and chose this one. When I tried them on, the toe box was fine. Unfortunately, when I walked, it seems the arch/instep was too far back in the shoe. I knew these weren’t going to work, but Zappos has a great return policy and I sent them back. Still looking.

The shoe fits as the other Altras do but I do not like the sole. Several times it caught on the ground and I felt like I was going to trip.

The first day i wore these shoes all day and my heels began to hurt. After i have worn these multiple times now, they feel much more comfortable. I get many compliments on these shoes - people really like the look of them. These are great for running. It took me a bit to get adjusted to the heel guiderails but now i really like it a lot. Great shoe highly recommend!

This is my first pair of Altras. I was looking for a wider toe box without going to a wide width shoe. I am happy with that area of the shoe. My disappointment is with the way the whole insole/sole of the shoe feels like it has broke down already. I haven't had these shoes for a year yet and my legs hurt when i where them. I only had them about 6 MONTHS when I started noticing this. I am a walker not a jogger but I haven't put near as many miles on this pair as I have previous shoes as I haven't out exercising as much. These were TOO EXPENSIVE to break down like they have.

Shoe feels great except for the heel. The shoe squeezes in at the top of the heel before the arch and it hurts. So sad because these are crazy cute!!

The shoe feels to tight across the top of my foot and I start to loose circulation on longer runs. Hoping they break in, but I did not have this issue with the Provision 6s.

The fit is great, but after wearing this version of the Altra Provision, I’m pretty disappointed with the shoes. I’ve worn Provisions 2.5, 3.0 and 3.5 which all provided wonderful support. But this version feels like Altra removed the solid feel of the shell of the shoe because now my feet pronate, which I’ve never seen them do with the previous versions. The lacings feel cheaper, there is no more protective bumper on the front and the material feels weaker. So disappointed!

not wide enough in the area between arch and heel and feels like there is not enough sole width and support under the outside edge of the foot. i loved my old riveras but would not recommend the provision 7s. i feel like these shoes encourage weird overpronation. ultimately disappointed in my purchase.

I love the Escalante Racer. The website said these have a similar foot shape to that shoe so I went with it. These are stiff, narrow, heavy and not that comfortable for my minimal shoe liking self.

These colors are not right. Did everyone on the sales team get together a laughing while choosing these colors? a joke on consumers? Come on. Look at On Running for ideas of colors. I need Altra for the zero drop which is why I'm complaining. Come on. And seeing the other comments I'm not the only one here.

I have been wearing the Escalantes for years. They are zero everything, roomy toe box, etc. I wanted to try a shoe with alittle more cushion for work. I am a healthcare worker, spending 12 hours on my feet. This shoe has some arch in it. Small but there. My feet were aching quite a bit. I thought I would let other "barefoot" people like me know about this :) still an Altra only wearer, just not this one

I wore these shoes for a 45 minute walk, and got blisters on the sides of my heels. I've never had this happen with a pair of shoes. It feels like the insole is stabbing my heel when I walk.

I've purchased at least 10 pairs of Altra's over the years. The first time I make a warranty claim on a relatively new shoe, with zero tread wear, with a defect in the interior of the shoe, they deny the claim citing normal wear and tear. Seriously? The shoes were in pristine condition.
