Hera's story has been twisted by the men who recorded it. She is the goddess of marriage and family, and yet all she is known for is punishing Zeus and his mistresses for infidelity. The truth is, Hera was once the Mother Goddess. She was worshipped as the supreme God by all in the area that would become Greece. It was a matrifocal society. Each village had a 'queen' and women were the heads of the families. Their ability to reproduce was associated with magic and the earth. When patriarchal peoples migrated in and slowly took over, so did Zeus. His marriage to her is symbolic of women becoming subjugated to men in the real world. Her history represents women's history as a whole. That is why I, as a women's historian in training, had to have this necklace. It will always remind me why I do what I do. Further, it's gorgeous. The detail is beautiful and it's the perfect size. I never want to take it off.

The details are beautiful, as is the color of the gold vermeil.

I was afraid the peacock feather details wouldn't come through as clear as the images show; however, it is just as beautiful as shown!! I will definitely be getting more!

Absolutely loved the necklace and my mom was super happy with her mothers day gift! Had a little of an unexpected turn when I had to pay custom fees I wasn't expecting upon reception of my package but I contacted customer service and after a few days got reimbursed for the custom fees! Just like all of the coins that I have purchased, the Hera goddess coin is beautiful. I truly love this concept of celebrating powerful women, both real and fictional.

Good quality, plenty detail and a happy wife!

My Hera necklace is really pretty and dainty. I bought the regular sized one and it's smaller than I thought it would be so you can't really get the full visual effect of the peacock details in the background. I'm not sure if that design detail really works on something of this size, but I bought the necklace for Hera and wear it for Hera-like inspiration, so the personal meaning is more important to me than if other people can see what I'm wearing. I chose the Saturn chain and it's very thin but sturdy and the clasp is easy to use. I didn't get the booklet or info sheet that was supposed to describe my goddess and her characteristics so I was a little bummed about that because it was listed in the description as something that came with the necklace. Instead, I got a small cloth that I think is for cleaning the necklace? But my necklace hasn't needed any cleaning or polishing yet, it continues to look shiny and new despite wearing it for a couple of weeks now. Overall, it's a good piece of jewelry for the price and I enjoy wearing it.

I was super excited for my necklace. I had it less than a week and was able to wear it 4 times before the chain broke and the pendant fell off and was lost. I contacted guest service and they offered to send me a new chain and said I could buy the pendant for $120 with a 20% discount. I was incredibly disappointed. I spent $135 with tax on the necklace in total which isn't a small sum of money for me. I could see not replacing it if I had the necklace for any lengthy amount of time but it was less than a week. I feel like I was completely dismissed by guest service and ripped off.
