I bought this jacket for an Iceland trip as it's light weight, packs down small, but could also deal with the wind and rain. It was the perfect jacket for Iceland as the layer goretex is 100% waterproof and wind proof. It held up against everything Iceland throw at us over 8 days of hiking and exploring in the rain, snow, wind and the low temperatures. I also use it back home in Flordia as a rain jacket. It's so extremely breathable so it works better than my thinner lighter rain jacket is not breathable so during the spring and summer showers I feel clammy and hot. I also use it skiing in winter and again its perfect! Enough warmth for the lefts and breathability during exertions. The Bata AR is a go-to for and output with full wind proof waterproof features.

I bough the Beta AR for all around use, IE skiing shell, rain jacket for summer adventures, etc. Couldn't be happier. Keeps me dry through all the elements and fits like a glove.

I've had this jacket for the winter and now into the spring. Used in a variety of conditions for both casual use, hikes, and snowboarding. Worked amazing in all conditions with great durability. Looks great and fits great! The collar makes layering up with hooded mid-layers difficult. I wish there was a small side pocket for RFID cards for resorts. I know it's not a ski/snowboard specific jacket, but a small side pocket would be helpful.

I bought this jacket a few months ago and it has already served me better than any other shell I've owned. Arc'teryx is genuinely the best outdoor company in existence and no one else does quality like they do. ARCY FOREVER!

I bought this to replace a Beta Lt. Jacket features are well placed. You can definitely see how much work goes in to designing these jackets it fits perfectly with multiple layering systems when hitting the mountains. I would highly recommend this jacket. May be a higher price tag but taken care of my last one has lasted for 9 years and still keeps the rain/wind/snow out

Beta AR !! What a jacket !! Walked in the store to buy a Sabre AR and walked out with the Beta AR in Dynasty. I was told "trust me!" I did, and I'm extremely happy with it! The fit is perfect -got a medium- it's not trim fit but still closer to the body then the sabre or the Rush and with the mid layer, had a fleece T200 jacket, it fills it just perfectly. ( I will be buying the Proton LT next). The first time I wore I was skiing under pouring rain for over 7 hours, had papers in my pocket, when done they were bone dry !! I did not over heat nor was I cold!! flexibility was good didn't bother me in any of my skiing. I like the new collar but it's close to the neck that you can't have to many layers there, nothing thick. but I like it. The hood works well with a helmet, just adjusting it is not as fast as I thought. Only thing I wished it had a side pocket on the arm and specially a internal pocket that really can be useful. Other then that an awesome jacket !!! Highly recommended and versatile to any season and literally any activity Thank you guys !!

I was on the fence for a long time as I really wanted the jacket but the price was a stretch for me. I finally bit the bullet and even then wasnt sure if I was ok with it.... Until I used it. Everytime I put my jacket on it makes me feel exactlty how a high end technical piece of clothing should make you feel. Confident in the protection it provides, bone dry. I love the pocket options

Replaced my Sidewinder after about 12 years with this jacket. It fits well, and the materials are nice and crisp, very water repellant (like all gore-tex) and easy to move in. I love the collar as it stands on its own without needing the hood which is great for skiing or cool days. This year I've worn the jacket in just about every condition imaginable and it's done great keeping me dry and warm.

I purchased this jacket to use while steelhead fishing the winter months on the west coast. Standing in a river swinging flies through pouring rain and I was dry as could be! I highly recommend for a shell!

I've skied in this 23 days now this year and love it. It keeps you 100% dry on heavy rain/snow mix days, surprisingly breathable, and if you need to dump heat if you are hiking or on days where it's sunny you can utilize the vents. The only thing I would change is the chest pockets to be more vertical like the alpha line of jackets but thats a very small complaint for an over all awesome jacket.

Love this thing! Been through a few torrential downpours and stayed absolutely dry. The material is a little noisy but you get used to it. Quality you expect and looks great. I use it mostly over my atom lt and it keeps me warm in the winter.

I had a Beta SV that was old enough that I don't even remember when I bought it. Decided that it was finally time to reward myself with a new shell. Honestly, I didn't even know what these felt like - it was Covid-time, and I ordered the Beta AR on faith through the site. It's truly amazing - customizable, breathable and ridiculously light. Once, I thought it was my light Japanese rain jacket when I grabbed it out of the closet in the dark. So good. Kingfisher is a great, deep dark blue and the fit is definitely "athletic" - it fits me but without too much room to spare after quarantine 15. Length is great - hits just below the waist.

I got the 2019 Midnight Sun Beta AR and I love this jacket so much that I had to get another one when a newer 2020 with rugged Goretex Pro was available as my spare. I got the Rhapsody color and love the distinguishing coloured dual layer. The jacket is great on layering and I can easily wear up to four layers and this as my fifth when we hit a sudden snow storm while hiking up Panorama Ridge at the Garibaldi park. A great wind breaker and rain proof.

Bought this last year after a trip where my previous jacket didn't hold up to the weather. Love it! Great wind protection and keeps you very dry without overheating.

Bought this a few months ago and took on trek to Grand Canyon-where snow and rain were in good supply. Liked that the shell was a bot oversized, so that many underlayers fit (and stayed dry). Easy yo take thru airport and on plane

Bought this jacket about a year ago and very happy with it. It is my favorite all-around shell in the Arc'teryx line. I have used it casually in urban environments as a standalone in the rain and as a shell over a puffer in the winter, as well as for high output winter activities in the back country. It fulfills all purposes very well. It is durable but also very aesthetically appealing. I'm 5'8 and around 155lbs and bought a small, which fits almost perfectly aside from the fact that the sleeves are slightly on the longer side.

I chose this Beta AR over Sabre and Alpha because of the lightweight and hand pockets as Sabre is not light and Alpha does not have hand pockets. I liked Alpha AR with stormhood and lightweight for my bike commute in winter and the designer should add hand pockets. Even climbers will benefit hand pockets as actual use of climbing will be less than 1% if its life and will want hand pockets 99% of its use for rain and skiing. I cannot buy Alpha for bike commute and Sabre for skiing and Beta for backcountry skiing, i just want one jacket for all activities (actually i have one for summer rain jacket which is Zeta FL and that is great except FL does not come with underarm zips). If Sabre come with removable powder skirt like a Higher model now does, it would have been a good choice. For now i use Beta AR for winter and Zeta FL for summer and will wait for a good all in one. You can do it Arcteryx. All good except; Beta AR's hood is not stormhood like Alpha or Sabre have,

I bought this several months ago and use it for both a rain jacket and backcountry snowboarding jacket. It works very well for both! Pit zips are great and the hood articulate very well. It does not have a powder skirt but has not been a problem.

I bought this shell last winter for ski touring and to bring it to all of my summer treks. I loved it touring. I loved it hiking. I loved it skiing inbounds. I litterally carried it through all of my hikes this summer as a bullet proof protection in case a storm caught up with us. Other than that, it fits nice and looks great!

I bought this jacket about a month ago, unsure if I would be using it the mild fall temperatures in Canada, however I have found use for it almost daily since. It is fully water/wind proof so it immediately takes care of those elements. Only trick is finding something to layer underneath. I run warm and am good with just a thin sweater underneath in 0-10 degree weather. I am an athletic 5'9' build and the small fits great. It is likely to be too small if I use puffier base layers (down). I got the Caribou color and am super pleased with it. The hood is not attached to the main portion of the jacket which is the reason I bought this jacket. I really hate the tugging feeling if you aren't wearing the hood so I opted for this option, with this separate and it does exactly that; very very pleased with this item.

Bought as a replacement for a previous version of the Beta AR that lasted 18 years of four season, multi-sport (skiing, hiking, around town) hard use (2 minor fixes by Arc Teryx during it's lifetime until the zippers de-laminated). The new Beta AR has updated zippers, nicer Gore-Tex and a larger hood. I expect another 18 years out of this one.

I've taken this jacket out in a wide variety of conditions - tropical storms in Mexico - misty hikes in the Pacific Northwest - downpours in the Mid Atlantic US It's fantastic as a wet weather barrier, extremely packable, and the one jacket I trust to keep me dry when I need it to. Fits well, accommodates a Phase AR + Atom LT for easy layering/warmth. Rolls into its hood and stuffs into a crossbody hipsack for unpredictable weather days. Great jacket to bring with you no matter where you go.

Great durability, should last quite a while. Fits well over a puffy, but also doesn't look too baggy with less layers.
