This bag looks sleek whether I load it up with student papers and go correct in a coffee shop or throw all my "weekend" stuff in it for a short trip. The tan color makes every outfit look polished.

I bought this a few weeks ago and love it! It has a lot of interior room and the look is so professional that I use it for work every day!

I was expecting the bag to be a bit larger than it actually is. Nonetheless, it holds a lot and true to the Frye brand, is made very well and to last. I’m very happy with my purchase.

I've had this bag for a few months, and I do love it. I get many compliments. However, be forewarned the leather is a bit delicate. I'd suggest you buy the Frye Leather Conditioner and have it on hand. The leather scratches easily and and be remedied by using the Leather Conditioner. This is an expensive bag; one would think the leather would hold up a bit better and not be so labor intensive.

Beautiful bag and fits a lot of items. Nice leather. My only criticism is the inside pockets could be slightly bigger. Why not make them bigger rather than smaller to be on the safe side for people? For example I have to cram my check book into the pocket it should easily fit in. After I oiled the leather it looked even better.

Like all Frye bags that I've owned, this is a beautiful, high quality product. However, I ordered it in the Beige Antique Pull Up which I've owned in another model. It should be a rich medium brown, a bit lighter than the cognac, but the bag I got looked pale, tan, and unappealing. I don't know if it was mislabeled by Zappos or if Frye changed their colors, but back it went.

I love Frye bags and I need something that will fit my laptop along with all my other daily work stuff. I also want something neutral but elegant/attractive (so not a briefcase looking computer bag and not a kids’ messenger bag.) I got this in slate. The pros: it’s certainly big enough, the leather smells wonderful, it could go with causal or workwear, it’s a very attractive shape and should last forever.
The cons: I’m a little disappointed in the color, which I thought would be that elusive vintage blackish/greyish/dark brownish color that some Frye boots have, but’s it’s just a really plain dark brown. It’s duller than other Melissa bags I have seen (it doesn’t shine like the photo), and doesn’t feel as soft as other Melissa bags. My biggest complaint is the straps, which are narrow and have sharp edges. All of The other Frye bags I have tried have very comfortable, flat but still slightly cushy straps with soft/hidden edges. I don’t get this design decision for these skinny straps as it’s such a huge bag—when filled to capacity, these will definitely dig in.
All in all, I’m on the fence— it’s almost exactly what I need, and the slate color was a good deal, but I suspect it just doesn’t feel as nice as the others. And I’m pretty sad the straps are actually sharp! Very un-Frye-like detail.

in consideration of the high cost, one would expect higher quality. the leather scratches easily, revealing white underneath.

I have had a number of leather handbags fall apart on me recently, so decided to go with Frye because of all the great things I have heard about the quality of their leather boots. I fell in love with this bag immediately, including the burnt orange color. But then I noticed a little scuff near the handle, and realized that every time my finger nails brushed up against the bag it left a very visible mark. My nails are short and rounded, but they still left marks on the leather. This bag would look ravaged in a few days! So I am very disappointingly returning it. It might be an issue with this particular color, so I can't say that all the Frye bags have this problem.

I was very disappointed to see that the strap was not a 10 1/2 inch drop. More like a 7-8 inch drop. I was hoping for a tote that swung over my shoulder and sadly, this isn't it.
